  1. This was a **** or bust game and we failed miserably.....will they sack him.....i can't see it happening. If they were going to do it they would have by now!
  2. In my opinion the board have royally cocked up from day one of the transfer window. Liverpool have badly wanted VVD and he badly wanted to go.....do not sell your best player until you have replacements signed...otherwise you are asking for a disaster. We then wasted...what was it £19 million on a striker none of us have heard of that last played 90 minutes of football god knows how long ago! This money could have and should have been used to get PROMES in....a fast winger is whats needed....we have an excellent striker in Gabby if the service is provided. Carrillo will now be starved of service like all our strikers have been this season...(he will now bang a hatrick this evening!) This whole season has been shambolic and we will be going down without any doubt.
  3. Should we be able to get the alleged 4 points the board see as a minimum requirement of the next 2 games???...hell yes with the squad we have. Will we however???...I'm afraid we will not! I watched the whole of the Chelsea v Brighton game last week and the 4-0 scoreline flattered Chelsea. Brighton were well organised and very determined...and incredibly unlucky not to have scored 2/3 goals themselves. They were very dangerous from set pieces and high balls being played in from the wings. Last season we had the dominant VVD that won everything in the air....now we have no dominant figure at the back and are easily out muscled when balls are played into the box. Given that we struggle to score goals, we defend way too deep and have a manager that shuts up shop the minute we do score, I can see Brighton winning this 2-1 and then losing 2-0 on Saturday to a JROD brace! I honestly cannot understand what our board thinks will change under this manager....he is a total coward and refuses to go for the oppositions throat.
  4. Chuffed to nuts we got more than i honestly thought we would get from this fixture. Everyone is right that says this point will mean nothing if we do not win against Brighton.....but i watched Brightons match yesterday and they will put alot of high balls in the box!!!
  5. Best result we can hope for today is the heavens open on what must already be a sodden pitch and the game is cancelled.....at least we might have some new players in (i'm not holding my breath on that one!) by the time we play them in a re-arranged game.
  6. I'm another in camp where i'm not sure Silva would be the answer. There has obviously been a lot going on since Everton tried tapping him up and if his head has been in Merseyside much like so many of our players then i wouldn't want him here. I'm as desperate as the next man for us to sack MP...but Silva is not the answer in my opinion. We as fans are just so desperate at the moment that many are not thinking clearly and almost anyone but MP will do!
  7. OK we are fast approaching the end of January and we are not remotely looking like we are close to signing anyone of real quality that might save us from relegation. I'm sure no one on here is stupid enough not to believe we are a team heading for relegation. We have been on free fall for the last 3 months and it is so difficult to halt that when players have lost all confidence no matter how good they are (and our squad is very capable of staying up based on quality) There must become a point when any club in our position really does start to plan for the inevitable and decide not to waste millions IF THEY CANNOT get the players that would make a difference! I suppose that is my biggest worry...we cannot attract the right players for various reasons and quite rightly so will not pay ridiculous amounts for players that WILL NOT have an immediate impact. I so hope i am wrong but i honestly think the club screwd up massively last season and this season with some of their decisions.
  8. someone turn off the lights at St Marys and put a closed sign up. Another English club sold to a foreign owner clearly only interested in taking as much money out of the club as possible!
  9. this is so depressing, we are at home and no one has any confidence that we could at least scratch together a point let alone a win. Really really sad times. I think i will just avoid football on Sunday and talk to the wife instead.....that's how depressing things have got!
  10. I have it on good authority we are completely ****ed and have said so for the last 3 months. I have it on good authority our board are a bunch of incompetent muppets And I have it on good authority we can all look forward to Championship football next season!
  11. anyone honestly think this deal will come off??
  12. I try so hard to see something positive to grasp hold off and believe that the board know what they are doing BUT every bone in my body tells me they have royally screwed this up big time. 1/ Sticking with a manager who is clearly for everyone to see Inept 2/ Having no real replacements or new blood lined up (MP statement about Walcott last night was frankly depressing) 3/ Heading straight for the Championship yet the board, the manager and the players seem to not care less. 4/ A new owner that either has no cash to inject or seems to have been suckered into believing whatever dear old Ralph is telling him! Depressed!
  13. I really wouldn't take it personally. Most on hear are grateful for snippets and quietly make up their own minds about what to believe and what not to. Some just can't help themselves having a dig at someone else. Don't let them put you of posting. I think the bit you have mentioned about said player having 2 kids will be defining!
  14. I have and I do believe we did contribute to them not playing well. I also believe United are not performing particularly well either at the moment. I'm just trying to be level headed and not get carried away with the performance as we have been downright awful for the majority of the season. It was particularly pleasing to see the players genuinely working for one another and hopefully the manager.[ QUOTE=Matthew Le God;2569822]Have you considered they didn't play well cos Saints prevented them from playing well?
  15. Lets no get carried away by yesterdays result. I will enjoy the fact we went to Old Trafford and came away with a very well earned point. The whole team put in a shift and I thought the defence were determined to shut out United. As well as we played I don't think United were great and appear to be having one of those patches...but we did very well. Now being a keeper myself I am delighted for Alex and am sure a clean sheet at Old Trafford will do his confidence the power of good. I don't mind admitting I was genuinely worried when I saw his name on the team sheet as I have been watching Alex this season and he like Forster has made some howlers and has not looked like an upgrade. He didn't have anything special to do yesterday but he did what we all expect of a goalkeeper and he did it well....confidence for a keeper is such a massive thing and hopefully this will do his wonders. I haven't given up on Forster. There is a very good goalkeeper there but his confidence is clearly shot to pieces and taking him out of the firing line was a good call and a very brave one from MP.
  16. Can't say I know anything about the player but looking at those comments the French fans think we are idiots paying that sort of money for him IF there is any truth to this!
  17. I would snap your hand off right now for 17th because i honestly believe we are going down. This manager is not going to be replaced, the team are not playing for him and have no confidence and we will struggle to attract very decent players as they will see relegation staring them in the face.......17th, yes please!!!!
  18. You are probably right and i have forgotten past sickening transfers.....were any of them as damaging to the club as this VVD saga with Liverpool has been?? Hopefully SFC will show they have quietly been planning for this day for months and will unearth our new fantastic signings as soon as the transfer window opens....i won't hold my breath!
  19. I am 100% in total agreement. I feel betrayed by our club, it sickens me we have let both VVD and Liverpool get their own way. The whole fiasco may well end up with us being relegated and what good then will Liverpools $75 do when it's spent on inferior players and a large chunk of it disappears into the owners bank account.Honesty and integrity are the two things i live by and SFC have shown none. Maybe it's an age thing but after over 45 years of supporting Saints i feel almost done with the club.
  20. stopped watching at half time and i can't blame the travelling fans for booing our own. They have paid alot of money to follow this dross, they are entitled to boo. The only straw i'm grasping is that this will be MP's last game!
  21. I cannot see anything but an embarrassing defeat today. I don't think our players have the stomach for a fight and MP is absolutely clueless. There is no doubt that the majority of Saints fans are completely demoralised by the last 12 months and relegation is becoming a real possibility. I am fed up to my back teeth with the turgid performances BUT the straw that will break the camels back for me will be the sale of VVD to Liverpool...if that is what happens. Any other team i can accept but not Liverpool as the impact the VVD illegal approach has without doubt had a major impact on the players and the club as a whole. The whole saga has been like a cancer slowly spreading throughout our club. If we sell to Liverpool the way i am feeling at the moment then i feel i will turn my back on Saints and do something else on Saturdays.
  22. Totally this in bucket loads!!!
  23. Austin is a complete moron...he will almost certainly get a retrospective ban for that assault on their keeper. It wasn't even cleverly disguised. Ref got no help from his linesman otherwise Charlie would already be off. What the hell was he thinking!
  24. In all honesty i'm struggling to think of anyone that fits the being realistic list at the moment. I don't think we are as attractive a club as we were 18 months ago....I still don't know what our Chinese owners have brought to the table and i'm sure that potentially puts of many managers out there (or do managers we have spoken to know there is no big transfer kitty and it is a case of sell before you buy. If that is the case we will struggle to attract any real names and will always be bargain basement shopping Ala our current manager!) If we sack MP anytime soon then i will be genuinely surprised and genuinely fearful of who we might get into replace him.....and it's not because i rate MP because i don't.
  25. I really don't understand this love fest with Brendan Rodgers. You say it yourself....any muppet could win the Scottish league with Celtic...it's a **** poor league. I totally despise Rodgers and his past remarks after raiding our club of talent (tapping them up) makes him a definite NO!
