  1. Please support my son Jordan's exciting new project as he aims to write a book on Venezuelan football and culture. Some of you have read his articles before as he freelances for several football sites. Jordan was a ballboy previously and recently wrote about his experiences and the time under Cortese. He writes with humour and flair and is very different from most football writing journalists. Please visit his kickstarter page and help a fellow Saint get his book off the ground.

  3. Italian restaurant in Oxford Street called MAXS. I have no reason to disbelieve the owner of the restaurant, he only told me the story as I was introduced to him by friends who had taken us out for the night and who knew i was a big Saints fan.
  4. Heard a nice story from the owner of a restaurant i ate at in Oxford street last night. He stated when Tadic was here he became a regular in his restaurant with his family and friends. Over time the two became friends and Tadic introduced him to other Serbian players at parties in London. When Tadic was sold he asked the restaurant owner if he would drive him to the airport in Tadic's Porche Cayane, which he agreed. However there was one flaw in that plan, how was the restaurant owner getting home? Tadic told him he had two options, either he catches the train home or he drives the porche home because he's not taking the car with him. He basically handed over the keys to a car worth over £50K for nothing. The restaurant owner sold the car and used the money to buy his wife her own business in Canute road. Apparently Tadic said loads of players when sold to countries abroad just abandon their cars at the airports!! What a great guy he was!
  5. my son's Kickstarter campaign started yesterday. It is his attempt to raise funds to help him write a book about Venezuelan football and culture. He has put in a tremendous amount of work into this project already including numerous podcasts and full page spread in the Morning Star. Please take a look at his Kickstarter page and the incentives on offer for those getting on board with his project. He's a former Saint's ballboy and a die hard supporter.
  6. The article above is by my son Jordan who writes for a number of football websites. He is a die hard Saints fan like myself and despite having moved to London with work, married and now having a child, he still travels down to Southampton for home games. He is currently working on a project to write a book about Venezuelan football. I know he would love any football fans to get involved in the project and show their support to a fellow Saints supporter doing something a bit different. https://thefootballbrief.com/red-wine-and-arepas/
  7. have watched first 35 minutes of the first half and our new signing looks an interesting prospect. Has two good feet and likes to run at people. Virtually every time he has had the ball he has been fouled because he's too quick for their midfield/defence.
  8. I honestly believe it's a human condition to be negative. Take the news on TV and the papers....it's misery that sells. These negative fans can't help themselves ity's in their DNA.....Just bloody frustrating for the rest of us!
  9. Ok the above from ericb now concerns me. I was hoping that it was all a bit of a conspiracy theory going on and all was well at the club, particularly taking into account we secured the services of RH and he appears to have bought into whatever is going on. I am now really concerned that RH who on the face of it is far from stupid, will, see through whats going on at the club and feel his future is definately not here. Also the board know it is close season now and there is very little the fans can do if they are not happy......will the fans really stay away come August and the new season if it really is suspected we have a very unscrupulous owner?? For me the biggie will be if RH is backed in the transfer market and gets his way.....if not he will walk and we really can all panic.
  10. God it's going to be a long summer.....one day, just one day after the season has finished and the conspiracy theorists amongst you just can't wait to have a pop at the club. Let's wait and see what happens and lets wait for the finer points to be announced before we all start denouncing the club.
  11. putting last nights result into context....Boufal played well against Barcelona's reserves!!
  12. not sure how many of you watched Newcastle beat Leicester away on Friday but I can tell you they were good and this will not be an easy game at all. I think both sides have responded well when the pressure was on and both sides are safe now barring a Cardiff/Brighton miracle. I will be happy with a draw but think Newcastle with the barmy army behind them will win this one.
  13. I could be wrong but Gabby has already gone and i mean permanently and Ings we are committed to buy, we can't wriggle out of it.
  14. this is just disgraceful behaviour by Cardiff. All this he is forever a bluebird ******s and he's my player etc etc and then they try by whatever means they can to renege on paying Nantes. The whole episode is disgusting on their part.
  15. absolutely disgraceful actions by Cardiff City. You signed a player, he was yours, no one elses. Pay up the transfer fee and stop trying to get out of it because some agents talked up his transfer fee. I don't suspect Cardiff will get away it for one moment....but just imagine if they did!!!.......how many clubs would suddenly stop payments for players they had bought because they suddenly believed they had paid over the odds for a player because they would have lost out to West Ham who get linked with everyone that ever put on a pair of football boots!
  16. Still so so angry about Saturday and how we ****ed up so badly. We have royally screwed up in the transfer windows previously gone, so much so that this transfer window meant we were impotent. We must have the weakest strike force in the whole premiership. 2 strikers that would bankrupt the NHS, 1 that should be reported to trading standards making a living as a striker and 2 that are just not ready for the premiership ready. How the hell are we supposed to win games?? The rest of the side is good enough to stay up IF we has a bloody striker.....we had no one on Saturday!
  17. I don't along to many Saturday games due to still playing league football, however it's my sons birthday this weekend so we are both going. I actually cannot remember the last time i physically saw Saints win a Saturday game that i attended......sorry guys it's my fault if we lose.
  18. If I was a Cardiff fan i would be feeling quire positive about this game. They are suddenly a united side because of the sala disaster. They will be thinking keep REDMOND starved of service and they (Saints) then offer little threat going forward.....and talking of forwards, what Saints forwards should they be frightened off? If as is likely INGS is out we have little threat from our forwards. They will says keep them quiet and the fans will get on their backs and they have struggled at home for the last 2 seasons. We are much more organised under RH and i believe we have a better team, but we badly lack a real goal threat.
  19. why don't some of you just grow up and stop acting like spoilt kids. Anyone with any sense knew we were not ever going to spend millions AGAIN after the last 2 disastrous transfer windows and that we badly needed to get rid of players before buying. Its January and has been one of the quietest Januarys for transfers. Clubs are now not taking risks and choosing to loan with maybe the option to buy at the end. For Saints that crap because we need to sell to be able to spend.....but at least we are saving a fortune on wages. Do you honestly thing RH was not 100% aware of these issues when he joined? The club have made some huge mistakes in the last 2 managers and some of the signings made.....it's time to rebuild and ship out. Maybe some of the fans need shipping out as well.
  20. I can certainly understand a lot of people on here being very concerned that we have have taken a massive gamble with our premiership status by not getting a couple of players in. I think the one thing we can all agree on is that RH very early on identified for one reason or another who he felt had bought into his philosophy and who clearly was not up to the task. We all knew we had an extremely bloated squad eating wages and needed to trim the fat. RH identified the fat and did the trimming....the only negative about that was we couldn't sell and had to loan....it's January!! Had we sold a couple or even just Austin we probably would have taken a punt on buying a player with the funds....but that didn't happen. The club are paying for 2 disastrous previous windows but RH has said nothing at all to indicate he was not already fully aware of our circumstances and what he might or might not be able to do this January. I think it could be a close thing but I think RH will keep us up and rebuild in the summer.
  21. mark my words, if we lose tonight their will be a major meltdown on here how we have totally screwed up this transfer window letting all thee fringe players go and getting no one in. Praying for a win:lol:
  22. I watched the first half of the United v Burnley game last night and thought Burnley were very well organised and very strong. Once Rashford missed his golden opportunity Burnley kept it really tight and just didn't let Utd play. Admittedly I think Solsker got his tactics wrong last night and hope we don't do the same. They will be no pushovers!
  23. I watched the Palace v Spurs game the other day, and even though Spurs were poor and minus 3 top players they still arguably had a stronger starting 11 than we have. Palace were just too strong for Spurs and in Townsend and Zaha they have 2 players currently in very good form. Anyone not concerned about Palace needs their heads looking at. I'm sorry but both RB and LB positions for us are currently very weak. We need to keep Zaha and Townsend quiet if we are going to win this one i feel. RH is not the next messiah, he has done remarkably well with the tools at his disposal but some of those tools are not as sharp as i would like. Really hope this nagging gut feeling i have about tonight is wrong!
  24. If it is to be believed, the talks are advanced and could happen quickly.............That surely would mean we are going to bring in at least 1 player!
