  1. Unfortunately market forces do not work like that. None of the players that we are touting are 'must have' for any other club out there. It is more a 'must sell' scenario and therefore the vultures will gather and pay bottom dollar - not top. Look at how we had to cash in early on Theo in order to try and get some money into the club - nothing has changed since then (only for the worse). We are hardly in a strong bargaining position to any Premier league teams.
  2. I personally think that the valuations are probably way over the odds, I really cannot see us getting anywhere near 8.5 million for those players - 3 is nearer the mark. More importantly though, what would happen to any money that we do get for them. I can see most of it being funnelled into the 'debt stream' in order to keep the bank happy and not a lot used for buying new players. Worrying thought.
  3. Agree entirely, many other clubs could well be forced to implement the sort of operational measures that we are currently running with. Agree about Abramovich as well, however just think of the impact that it would have if (when...!!) he decides he has had enough of the trainset and wants out. CFC have an outstanding £750 million loan from him which is repayable should he walk. Most clubs operating in the PL are doing so based on the revenue generated by Sky as well. Just think what would happen if they lost that contract and the revenue was drastically reduced - could happen. The bottom line is that at some point the fans will not be able to, nor want to pay more and more to already overhyped and over paid sportsmen - the bubble will burst...!!!
  4. Perhaps it is we (you) who should wake up and smell the coffee - we have been in this position all season - rarely have we been much higher. Most of us expected nothing more. So long as we are where we are now, at the end of the season, - job done. No point getting all hysterical now - nobody ever died falling off a cliff - admittedly many did when they reached the bottom, but we have not yet done that.
  5. Are you part of the Dutch trio - you appear to be speaking it (well at least double anyway...!) I think that if you read LTC's posts again - he makes a cogent argument - quote all the stats you like based on 8 games - the only two that you really need is where we are now after 23 and where we will be after 46. One we can tell you now - the other we will all have to wait to see.
  6. I would accept that he should distance himself from the playing staff becuase his input is unlikely to have any bearing whatsoever on any of the games. Lets be honest, no professional player in thier right mind is ever going to listen to any 'tactics, coaching or playing advice' that is given out by Rupert Lowe. That said - for people on here to honestly think (and publish) that he does give the team talks and such like is totally laughable.
  7. I instantly dismissed this theory as total rubbish. For fear of being labelled a Lowe Luvvie (whatever that may be) the whole idea that the man 'talks tactics' is total bollux.
  8. Come on lads.. last 10... lets do them...!!!
  9. Really - then why are you here...????
  10. Right now - I will settle for papering over the cracks so long as the 'whole wall' don't cave in.... avoid relegation this season and my expectations have been met... coyr
  11. Ohhhh oohhhhh could be a night of large slices of humble pie.... yessssss my favourite... comme on...
  12. What really - stay where you are Mr Ince - the Cavalrys arrived....!!! Get in Rudi....
  13. Looks like Paul Ince might be in trouble as well - who knows perhaps HCDAJFU.....
  14. Keane goes - Sunderland winning 4 - 0, umm now I wonder if that would work for us....!!! Albeit against WBA though.....
  15. Why so surprised - this is becoming the 'norm' for us this season.... noting much has changed really - sadly.....
  16. Errr you optimist you - or are you just a blind fool....!!!!
  17. Bit of a turn around from all the other teams that have whooped our asses but said that we were the best passing team they have played....!
  18. I'm happy to take the result now and go to be honest - lost any faith in it getting better....
  19. You never appreciate what you had until it's gone... but even if he was back, under these circumstances I doubt that we would be that much better to be fair. Jan is working with a bunch of kids, who lets face it are now getting the shyte kicked out of them week in week out - their confidence must be shattered now.
  20. I was going to ask for a radio link - but under the circumstances perhaps Ill pass on that one for now....!!!
  21. Just got in - I see we are doing ok then...!!! Just a mountain to climb and we should be good for a point eh...!!!!
  22. Very true, but the point was made by one of the commentators on Sky last night that the 'experience' could actually be detrimental. Too many hammerings is going to do absolutely naff all for the kids belief and self confidence, therefore some experiences are best not experienced if you get my drift..!!!
  23. You optimist you...! Personally after last nights performance I can't see us getting the 5 points that we are currently adrift over the course of the season...! We are woeful....
  24. Expected not to get relegated - no more, no less - we'll see....
  25. The term 'must win game' is used far to lightly and often out of context. The only real must win games are when you need the points from that (or those remaing) game(s) in order to either win the league, win the cup or avoid relegation. Forest is a big game, it's important, but it's not 'must win', nor is it the end of the season if we loose. As to whether we were lucky or not - it matters not a jot - we got the points. Win at Reading loose at home to Forest - only goes to show how unpredictable this league is, therefore nothing can be assumed because of one result. If we get relegated we get relegated - but it wont be due to any one result - likewise if we stay up you wont be able to point to one game as your banker. We will live or die over the course of the season - not by one single game.
