  1. Fair play to them, just a group of lads having a laugh. I bet they added a lot to the atmosphere unlike the people who sit down with their arms folded discussing whether Ramirez is worth £12million or not and moaning about the noisy lot up the back singing
  2. When smoke bombs get set off it always gets the crowd going. I think they're a decent addition to the atmosphere
  3. What happens if at the end of March we've battered everyone in the next six games but lost to City and Chelsea and only drawn the other four? Would people still be happy that we're going in the right direction? We'd more than likely be bottom three.
  4. I've played a lot of golf with Paul, he's a very good player. He won the Stoneham Club Championship a couple of years ago which is a good victory with the players they have there.
  5. ^^ Cheers, great photo's!
  6. I don't believe that. If ML didn't invest someone else would have bought us, the infrastructure was a steal for what they paid. Then with a 20k+ average attendance in league 1 we probably still would have promoted within 2 seasons as we were and then who knows what we would have done in the championship, we could have still been in the same boat we are now. (Without Ramirez)
  7. Chelsea could get into trouble if Roman pulls the plug on the cash flow.
  8. He was berating our pr guy about us breaking into the top 10 followed on facebook within two years...
  9. I agree, we do have great support but I think that's pushing it big time. How many times have we sold out for 32k this year? At the fans dinner last year Cortese was talking about us being in the top 4 most followed clubs in the world as one of his targets... Let me just get my head around that!
  10. You still have to pay enormous wages to keep them though, do we have the infrastructure to support such outgoings? Can we sell out an 80k stadium for £50 a ticket each week?? Highly doubtful.
  11. His goal is certainly achievable, just look at City for instance, in today's modern football it is definitely possible to buy a title but whether it is sustainable is the real question though. Clubs that try to bat out of their natural positions by spending vast sums of cash always end up coming down to earth with a huge bang, just look at Leeds for example and of course the skates! I guess the question is, could we regularly sell out an 80k stadium?
  12. I see what you mean, I guess I'm blinded by the ideal of him pinging in lots of brilliant deliveries from the wide position for Rickie to get his head on!
  13. It's in the Man U build up thread. The source is BBC Solent I believe
  14. It was suggested on another thread that because Guly is apparently injured Shaw could push up to left wing and Fox replace him at left back. I'd love to see Shaw play a more attacking role, the boy is class
  15. I would love to see Shaw play attacking left wing
  16. Does anyone have a decent photo of our support that day?
  17. There goes the idea that Adkins was sacked to attract more exciting foreign players... I guess Guly, De Ridder and Hooiveld are actually good enough. I always knew Guly was a genius. I'm just out to buy my ADIDAS Do Prado's from their new range of boots.
  18. So, put aside whether you agree with Matt or Nicola in this feud and put aside whether you think Mr Cortese is a good chairman or not as so far he has been incredibly successful. The one thing that jumps out to me is the issue of customer service at the club. As everyone keeps saying ''Nicola is a great businessman and is taking us to the top'', well surely the first rule of business is to keep your customers happy? That's all of them not just a few. Why is it always so hard for us customers to find out any information about the club? Why is it so hard for the chairmen to just acknowledge the work of past heroes and be respectful to them? Why can't this stupid situation be dealt with in a professional, business manner without all the pettiness involved. I know one thing, it would make me more proud to be a saint rather than all this squabbling. Surely it's a damn sight easier to just come out and say ''We have to thank Nigel for his work at the club, he did a brilliant job and we respect him for that but the time has come for a change in management and a new, exciting direction for SFC''? Wouldn't that simple statement make a lot of the upset supporters happy? And surely it's easier for Cortese to say ''Matthew is a great ambassador for the club, he had many successful years at SFC and is a hero to the supporters. We respect what Matt has done for SFC in the past and present and he has always had the club at heart. I'm going to invite Matt to dinner so we can discuss our differences and clear the air.'' Wouldn't this simple statement make the past legends happy and get them back on side? Is it really such elaborate thinking? Why does everything always need to be so petty and pathetic? If, as Nicola said in his interview, he wants the club to be as one. Then surely he needs to start being pro-active in getting these people on side? It wouldn't take much for all supporters and past players to get behind him and surely that would do no end of good in helping him achieve his goals.
  19. Does anyone have a link to a transcript or anything?
  20. Anyone remember the ''big announcement'' after we got promoted from league 1? It turned out to be a celebrity match! This will be poor and underwhelming. Personally I would love a Tiss v Cortese debate like the one on live TV with Clough and the Leeds manager years ago.
  21. What a glory hunter, I bet he didn't come back for Aldershot away haha
  22. We were really lucky at Arsenal though and I don't think we will get off so lightly next season (if we stay up). It's not the total cost of the day though, it's more the thought of paying these prices when your support is not even respected or rewarded and in some cases isn't even wanted!
  23. This shouldn't have turned into an ''I'm more loyal than you'' debate. I think most people are in unison that football is changing and we are being raped through our noses, it just takes a while to realise it when you live and die by the club
  24. Agreed. I remember a particuarly stale 0-0 with PNE a few seasons back. Spent the whole game trying to think up a song for Nigel Pearson *edit. I think it was actually a 1-0 loss!
  25. At the end of the day people go to games for different reasons, the price point is only one of the many negatives about top flight football now for many hardcore supporters. Just ask yourself this though DPS, would you be happy if saints turned into a multi national money hungry brand like United? I would hate to support them personally
