  1. Luke Coles, who was Lead Opposition Analyst & Technical Recruitment at Sunderland has just left his role to take up a new role with us. Not a coaching appointment but maybe one of the recruitment side.
  2. So why say we are in talks then?! What benefit is there for us saying we are if we aren’t?!?
  3. The press release from saints just says we are in talks with Long. Doesn’t say what about, could be about a coaching roll with the younger age groups. Just seems odd they didn’t mention in talks about a new contract. Sometimes it’s what isn’t said rather than what is..
  4. Re Dennis - so agent says he’s on our long list of forwards. Fans want us to sign him, when he doesn’t then fans up in rage that board lost out to X for him. its just agent talk to drive up interest in his player!
  5. Just because we don’t sign someone doesn’t mean we weren’t interested in them. Maybe they choose another club over our offer (Maddison for example) maybe they want to stay close to where they live now and don’t want to relocate their family. You lose players to other clubs. Some players we aren’t interested in. Let’s just see what squad we have when the window closes hey…
  6. To be fair there aren’t many clubs who have launched theirs yet. Arsenal / Newcastle / Liverpool / West Ham / Tottenham/ Man City I think and 3 of those were yesterday or today.
  7. I’d take him for sure, but I think WHU paid circa £20-£25M for him so I’m sure they would look to move on for at least that tbh
  8. How do we know that it was Forster decision to leave by not signing a contract rather than ours for not offering him one???
  9. Imo I feel this will see Willy leave and this guy will be a cheaper younger third choice keeper.
  10. Massive difference in quality between those two! Wolves seem to be revamping their midfield this summer, Neves likely to leave for CL football and Moutinho is old and they are looking to replace with younger option. I imagine they would give MGW a chance
  11. Why would the owners be on the call?! How many businesses have the owners of a business in a meeting when staff are leaving. HR were there and a senior manager. Talk about trying to make a story from nothing.
  12. Oh come on, you know if we appoint someone people haven’t heard of they will be on his back straight away as not good enough. However if they were a good footballer then clearly they will be better coach and who will get more grace from fans.
  13. Hopefully a change in the roles brought in too, with a proper assistant one of those coming in.
  14. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2022-05-25/club-statement-southampton-football-club-coaching-changes
  15. A change to the coaching set up, including a proper number 2. A number 1 keeper An older leader type centre back some form of creativity in the team a forward a change to our preferred playing style and a plan B not much needed huh
  16. Just seen the goals. So simple, first was a(mother) defensive error, 2nd caught on the counter, 3rd and 4th they targeted the fact we didn’t have a left back playing.
  17. The big downside of this buy kids to progress and sell on for a profit is the inconsistency that comes with them being young. I wish we went out and brought a centre back 26-29 age bracket who could lead the defence and also another older player for the team who was a leader. It’s all very well having this model but you need those two types in your team too imo.
  18. Has nobody to discuss things with, get input from during the games. It’s only ever Ralph in the technical area, maybe a revamp of the coaching set up with an actual assistant one of those brought in rather than just a series of coaches?
  19. Changes to coaching set up based on anything or just wishful thinking?
  20. If Leeds went down where do you think Meslier would go? Fits our profile but likely to be too expensive for us.
  21. Would be a good opportunity for the new owners to have one of their own in a key position. No idea if Glover is doing a good job or not but just adds to the importance of getting the summer trading right.
  22. Any chance of this getting back on topic?!
  23. From those likely to go down. Norwich, will ditch Krul and play Gunn next season. So nothing there. Watford, Foster is too old now and probably stay with Watford. Burnley, Pope will want to play premier league football for sure, but depends if Burnley put a silly price on him.
  24. Kieran Maguire has done a good summary of the main points here in this twitter thread.
  25. The good thing from recent games are the partnerships and understandings that have developed across the pitch KWP and Armstrong Perraud and Moi JWP and Romeu Broja and Adams
