Finally a keeper who saves things he should and shouldn’t. Finally. the defence can breathe a sigh of relief.

No one can do what he does. I’m just trying to figure out why he’s so damp unlucky all the time though..

Whilst many of these are of ample ability for this league, the previous seasons mental scarring and fragility always resurfaces - and it affects the new players too. If we don’t take the lead and get sucker punched, we flail and flap. If we get so much as a goal against us when we’re clear on the scoreboard we start to wobble. Leadership. It’s been absent for years. Its ok when it’s going well and we’re pulverising teams but like it was under Martin last time, we have a really, really soft underbelly.

Spot on analysis. Our defending for the 2nd especially is woeful, but the bottom line is he might as well not be there, he’s pointless. His presence in the team ruins every game for me. It’s fucking baffling how this is being enabled.

I’ll explain it again, just in case. He is not at fault for our porous defence but he offers absolutely nothing once it’s breached and doesn’t save ANYTHING. If he does, he either pushes it out into danger or it still goes in. Most of the time though, it’ll fly past him and he dives afterwards. Or my personal favourite, he’s so far out positionally that he gives himself even less of a chance of saving it. He has zero presence at set pieces and panics the defence with his chaos and flapping, or outright fear from moving from his line. He is utter shite. And no, him passing the ball between himself and the centre halves don’t constitute ‘importance to the build up’.

It wasn’t scintillating but imo could see they were having a pop - which I like. Annoying we couldn’t put it to bed though, especially after Lampards behaviour

no one is denying our defence is found wanting at times but having a literal ghost behind them doesn’t help. at least our defence shows semi competency. Bazunu doesn’t show any.

In what way ever has he played an integral part of anything build up wise we’ve done going forward in a game? it’s not as if he’s there for defence splitting through balls and we’ve already got three berks at the back who can pass it around amongst themselves. id rather my goalkeepers… keep goal.

There is literally no goalkeeper coach in the world who can elevate his game. Not now. This is it, this is the pinnacle. He’s shit and always will be.

Again, every word of this is painfully true.

There is no comparison between Bazunu and McCarthy IMO. McCarthy is a goalkeeper, Bazunu is an incredibly limited rush goalie. Always will be.
