  1. Palace were after Nuno before they switched to Favre, I think? Now Favre is off, if Palace went back in for Nuno and he blew out Spurs for them - now that would be funny. Unlikely, but funny.
  2. A hopeful punt is what Wimbledon and Stoke used to do. Redmond received a 40 yard pass, brought it down, got on the front foot, got his head up, saw Ings in a tiny bit space in the box and played it directly onto his right thigh. Presumably knowing (because he plays with him in training every day) that Ings has got enough quality in that scenario to do the rest. Which he did.
  3. Yep, the League of Wales is a real powerhouse The big boys will all be looking to avoid Connor's Quay Nomads in next year's CL
  4. Who is that - Aleksey Cherednik?
  5. Jamie Scowcroft Cameron Jerome Ronnie fucking Rosenthal All shite. All looked like the second coming of Pele when they played against us.
  6. Yes, you could argue that, if you were really, incredibly dense. But no, you're right. Anthony Pulis, Jacob Mellis and Ryan Smith would walk into this side, which was top of the Premier League in November.
  7. Armstrong was fantastic, regardless of the miss, and would have been MOM for anyone who could think beyond McManaman's 'Ings score goal, Ings best player' banality. McManaman's other brilliant insight that made me smile was some comment about how we should bring Vestergaard's pace on to counter Traore. Yeah. That'll do it Steve. Salisu has got some rough edges to round off but looked to me to be quick, strong, and to read the game really well. He made a lot of important interceptions simply by anticipating the play and getting himself in the right position to deal with it before it happened, something some of our other CBs seem to struggle with. Moss was excellent. Traore should just about be climbing out of Bertrand's pocket. Still intrigued to see what happens with Forster when he actually has some proper shots to save (the low ones away from him and anything requiring a real stretch or quick readjustment of his feet/ body being his real achilles heel when we last properly saw him). Need to make sure we don't get cocky against Bournemouth. If we keep our heads on and treat them with the same respect as we would anyone else, we'll beat them and then it's getting interesting. Sod the league. We'll finish 10-15th and that's fine. Let's go balls out to win the FA Cup. Man Utd in the final please. 1976 revisited. Revenge for Gabby and the League Cup. Revenge for the Mike Dean show clusterfuck the other night. Magic.
  8. Opening game of the 1986-87 season. 5-1 victory against QPR. Nick Holmes and Danny Wallace got one each, and Colin Clarke scored a hat-trick on his debut after signing from Bournemouth for £400k. A young David Seaman in goal for them. I thought it would be like that every week. It wasn't.
  9. As our transfer dealings seem to suggest we're adopting a somewhat gung-ho approach for the rest of the season, I'd be tempted to go with an attacking line-up for this one: McCarthy; Armstrong, Ings, Adams, Minamino, Nlundulu, Obafemi, Redmond, Djenepo, Tella, Walcott (with the last two under instructions to run off the injuries, we need fighters out there). 1-0-10 formation. Subs: Lambert, Pahars, Beattie, Le Tissier, Wallace (D), Ron Davies and Jonno Quick.
  10. ** MLG mode ** I think you'll find it's pedantry
  11. U OK hun? x
  12. 100% this. Plus a first goal for one of our kids.
  13. Can you name all the black one armed lesbian transgender chick ex player pundits please Cheers
  14. Magnificent tonight. Simply magnificent.
  15. As a bit of perspective: 'Though <Hasenhuttl's> side were unable to find a winner, Tuesday's draw means only Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have won more points in the Premier League than Southampton in 2020.' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55406823 With almost half the season played we're 6 points off the top of the Premier League, up against clubs bankrolled by billionaires and governments. Personally I don't think two slightly flat draws on the bounce is anything to be too down about, really.
  16. From that forum: 'They are arguably the best pressing team in the world.' 😳
  17. Gunnersaurus released by Arsenal: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/12090952/gunnersaurus-release-by-arsenal-prompts-gofundme-page Cover for Sammy Saint? Could be decent value on a free.
  18. I for one appreciate all the effort you put into running this site Steve - you do a great job, thank you.
  19. Edit: Saint Clark beat me to it
  20. Personally I'd be more worried about dealing with Fernandes - he's the crux of their team at the moment, he's more consistent, and has been the catalyst for them looking like a proper football team again. He's making them tick. Although Pogba's not bad either, like.
  21. Penalties maybe, but free kicks? He's quite clearly one of the best takers of a direct free kick in the league.
  22. What. A. Performance. Absolutely magnificent.
  23. Nice one Steve - great job
  24. Ah right, thanks - missed that
