So let me get this straight. You *****ed, wailed and sulked from January through to the end of August that there was no ambition at the club, the champions league dream was over, we are going to be just another also ran but we shouldn't accept that, we should demand more just as your fallen hero did. Yet now we're 2nd doing better than many of is could have hoped and the champions league dream is back on (for some) we're doing exactly as you thought we should do. So if 'our weight' is top 6 what was your pint sized hero doing only taking us to 8th? No wonder Kat got shot of him.

What do you think the expression 'punching above our weight' means Franco?

I said when he went there he would struggle to impose his methods on that squad. It's one thing to come into a club full of players starry eyed players in their first season in top flight or teenagers just breaking into the team and get them to play a certain way, which might not initially be popular due to the work demanded, quite another to get millionare big time players who have worked under bigger name managers. People like Adebeyor were never going to like it. Pochetino will need to rebuild that squad if he's going to succeed there and he'll need time to do it, something that spurs managers don't get.

One of the things i find odd about Portsmouth people is that they are proud that they are an island town with a dense population. Like it's in some way a good thing that they are crammed in like sardines into a small crappy town. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it's the highest population density outside of London.

6 of the 7 teams that finished above us last season all had wage bills which are more than our entire turnover. Some make more just from Commerical activity than our entire turnover, lets not forget with your a certain former CEO at the helm he manged to get our commerical incomes to the level of a midtable championship club. In terms of income those clubs are twice or even three times bigger. Only one of those teams now sit above us in the league so in terms of income and club size we are very much punching above our weight. However has others have said, we're there on merit and we deserve to be where we are right now.

They have actually been very complimentary about us the last couple of years. Adrian Durham is always praising us.

I don't know how ill ever recover from this devastating news.

Southampton have been doing well of late but have struggled for goals since their fortunate 8-0 win against Sunderland. Although they haven't conceded many this is more due to other teams not shooting rather than good defending as you can see from their shots against stats the last few weeks. Villa on the other hand are due a win and have to start scoring sometime. Dorkish prediction villa 4 southampton 0.

I happen to know the cousin of a current spurs first team player. He hates Poch, said he doesn't want to play for him or spurs and it going to run his contract down and leave at the end of it if they don't flog him first.

I don't need to say it......

To tune of the animals don't let me be misunderstood He's just a lad whose intentions are good That's why we all call him Tony Underwood

There's an easier way mate. Just look at the final league table for the past 10 season, see what points the team that finished 4th had, then work it out yourself. Remember we don't need to finish one point higher than 5th, we need to finish one point higher than 4th. You're right, I am clever and popular and awesome And stuff but you don't need to be all of those things to check a few league tables.
-
To put what we need to do into perspective 83/84 was our biggest ever top flight total, we got 77 points from a 42 games season. We'd probably need to perform better than that to get enough points to finish in the champions league place. so It would need our best ever top flight performance to finish 4th even though we'd probably finish 2 places lower. It's a huge ask however 'doable' people might think it to be.
-
A few more than the team that usually finishes 7th, or something.
-
Where on earth did you get this from Timothy? For starters we need to finish 4th not 5th so we need beat the team who finished 4th to do this. If as beat the team who finished 5th, guess what, we'd finish 5th. Secondly the points to finish 4th in the last 10 years have been 68-79 so an average of around 73. With us on 25 after 11, leaves us needing 48 from 27 we're looking at around 1.77 a game. Other than that you're bang on the money.

First game this season and by no means a vintage performance but a good win. At no point did I ever think Leicester would hit us with a counter punch, we were rock solid at the back, although they are hardly ripping it up on the goal front. The positives, Wanyama was imense, seems to have gone up a level and can now pass, Some decent touches too. Some great hold up play and bring other into the game from Pelle. Two class finishes from Long, I can those two being a very good pair if we play two up top. Bertrand and Clyne good going forward and Fonte and Tony quality at the back. We kept possession well and Leicester were always at arms length. Negatives, the final ball was often dreadful, Tadic can't cross with his right and often tried an outside of the foot left which never got anywhere, Mane flattered to deceive, a couple of decent runs but never really did anything of note and was correctly substituted. Also felt we over played at times, one too many touches or flicks, not direct enough when we could have been. All In all we look a bloody good side though and showed we can break down organised and stubborn teams, which is something we struggled to do at times under poch. Looking forward to see how we do against City as they are nothing to fear right now.
-
You're right alps. I keep hearing about this tough run we've got and yes Arsenal away and Chelsea will be tough. However City are not clicking at the moment, Man United haven't won away all season so I don't see why we can't come out of those unbeaten at the very least. Everton at home is very winnable too. Of course it's going to be difficult and they've all got quality players but nothing to fear at all.

He'll be back in good time, earlier than expected but later than hoped.

So has it just been confirmed that all the never ending lazy lying scumbag journos accusations lodged against anyone who says anything that isn't 100% positive is in fact a load of horsesh it?
-
Ha ha ha, that was very funny though, remember it well. 3,000 saints fans doing that and chants of "make a sub" LLoyd James, Ollie Lancashire, Paul Wotton, Matt Paterson in the team. That night i genuinely thought we might go down again that season, we were dreadful.

Couldn't we avoid FFP by signing a £50m a year sponsorship deal with the Liebherrs?
