  1. Its not really unusual these days for a chairman to be involved in transfers. What I find very disturbing and it's not the first time I've heard it, are involvement in team selection and formations.
  2. It's pretty clear Colin.
  3. Because it would be totally out of character for him to over react. Like when he banned Illingsworth for posting an article on a spaz board he didn't like. Like when he banned the echo for publishing an article, which was actually positive, a day early, when it was already in the public domain. Like when he sacked Adkins last summer And Reid had to tell him to stop being a lemon. Yep, given the history if there is one thing we can be sure Cortese won't do it's over react.
  4. Im not saying MLT is.its the blanket dismissal of anything anti Chairman as usual. Some fans now even turning our our greatest legend such is their obsession with Nick Nack. I certainly don't take everything he says as gospel, but I think what he says should certainty be given some credence as he's better placed than a lot to know what is going on inside the club. Sadly, some people are just dismissing him as a bitter ex player, which is a disgrace.
  5. But MLT has said he'll happily sit down and discuss it all with nick nack, nick nack doesn't seem to want to. And hilarious that you would accuse MLT of being immature. What about Nick Nack when he refused to sell Illingsworth a season ticket for saying it was wrong to remove the instalment plan with no warning?!
  6. I would describe it as pretty paranoid and obsessive behaviour. But hey, it's pretty normal in the business world!
  7. Pretty normal? Thank f*ck I've never worked where you have!
  8. What would you lot say if you had heard that a CEO of a business had offered people within the organisation certain privileges such as pay rises or promotions in exchange for being spies? To basically keep an ear to the ground and report back If anyone said anything nasty about him or her. When the information was reported back the people were fired and the spies were f*cked off and the promised reward for grassing up their mates and collegues totally unfulfilled. Is this normal business behaviour or slightly wierd and controlling?
  9. Exactly. It's like they've all been brainwashed. Maybe, just maybe MLT has a point? Maybe He's not a bitter old man like has been claimed an he's had enough of good people at the club being treated like sh*t? And some of you lot having a go at Matt are a disgrace. He's the greatest player we've ever had and on of our most loyal. Would Man U fan let the Glaziers treat Bobby Charlton like it? Or Liverpool fans let their owners treat Dalglish like it? Let's not forget the character of MLT, he's a loyal chap and big Saints fan. If he's got a gripe with Nick Nack it's not going to be for no reason.
  10. about 3 months ago i was in a pub in town, i ordered a round of drinks and he took them and ran off with them. I was furious at the time but a few hours later in the taxi home i saw the Old bill had caught up with him. Karma.
  11. Yep. Strachans sides were very fit, well drilled and solid and in Beattie we had a striker who was suited to the way we played. He wasn't a pretty footballer but was effective and a handful for defenders. It's a shame Beattie and Pahars never really got to play together in their prime as that would have been a great partnership.
  12. Well it seems like he is neither a great guy who loves the fans, the club and all things SFC, or a great businessman now doesn't it.
  13. Shut up you helmet. As i have said, i know from personal experience that the club view this boards as i have got someone into trouble in the past by posting something they had told me. Of course the club probably dont give a sh*t what most of the helmets like you think about German and Easy jet ticket models, but they dont take to kindly to senstive information being broadcast to all of you mugs. Like I said, i know this is true, because it happened to someone i know. So wind your neck in.
  14. To give him his due from what I've heard about a couple of deals he has been an absolutely gent. The point was more general after it was made out being difficult to deal with Is some amazing feat Cortese carries off with aplom.
  15. I dont care i hes a nice bloke or not. Every CEO ive ever met has had a tough streak, they meed to have one as thy have toyghj decisions to make, that doesnt bother me. As I said, we keep being told he is a great businessman, but apart from getting a great deal for AOC if this is true, where is the evidence of this? Certainly not in the club figures, as weve run at a loss every year he's been been here. Certainly not in the customer service areas as the ticket office has never been so badly run. Certainly not in the corporate areas as the significant revenue we could gain from them is not happening. The corporate areas are virtually empty with expensive prices and a poor product. And certainly not in staff retention as the turnover of senior staff is very high. Certainly not in PR as we have poor relations with the media. the city guy 'left' a while ago after only being here a few months, cannot be blamed for the shambles that they are Now. So just where is the evidence of this great businessman?
  16. Why should NC play the nice guy when buying a player? Christ if you don't get that we're in trouble. You want to buy something that someone doesn't want to sell then you can't play billy big balls. same when your trying to sell a product to potential suitors. Yes there is a time to be difficult to deal with, like he was with AOC. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be able to get te balance right does he.
  17. /\ not just difficult to deal with. A product that is to put it bluntly is crap. From what I can gather the cheapeet corporate ticket simply gets you access te corporate bar where you have the honour of buying crap beer and buffet food at massively inflated prices. Tell me what is the compelling reason to do such a thing? I was out for dinner lat night with the owner of a successful company in this area who is a Saints fan. He said it was far better value to buy 6 season tickets and take clients for lunch in Oxford street before the game so that Is what he does. He customer facing side of the club is an absolute shambles, expensive an rubbish. We keep bein told Cortese is a great businessman, well he's either totally unaware or unwilling to do anything to maximise revenues from local businesses.
  18. What innuendo? I'm inviting people to draw their own conclusions. Such as regarding the corporate sales and ticket office departments.
  19. Pressed for detail? It's an Internet forum not an interrogation! When I've given stuff out in the past people demand sources and names otherwise it had no credibility. Now why would anyone name names when the club monitor these boards and cause trouble for their source? And I'm speaking from experience as in the past I did get someone at SFC in trouble for saying something I shouldn't on here and making it clear where it had come from. It was before Corteses time but still caused them problems. With Nick Nack in charge they'd have been fired. So no I'm not naming names and sources, if people don't believe it that's up to them, I don't care.
  20. He has actually, Beattie is 34 now so 4 years older, But between 07-09 when he would have been 29-31 he scored 34 goals in 62 games for Sheff United at a lower level. So slightly behind lamberts championship and L1 record but all of those came in the championship and not playing for a team which won promotion.
  21. As have I. And all bar 7 of Lamberts have been at a lower level than all of Beatties.
  22. Behave yourself Roger. Beattie scored all his goals for us in the Premier league, Lambert has scored 4, all of his apart drom those have come at a lower level. When he's scored 15-20 a season for a couple of seasons in the Premier league then you might have a case. Lambert is still unproven at this level, Beattie was excellent for us at a time when we weren't scoring many goals. In his prime in Strachans side we were hard to beat and set up quite defensively, we didn't create load of chances yet he still scored over 20 goals in a couple of seasons.
  23. A difficult man to do business with? Hang on a minute, we are told over and over again that NC is a great businessman. Unfortunately for NC in the leisure industry which he is now in, where you are trying to sell your product to match goers and also to local buinessness for sponsorship and corporate tickets i fail to see how being 'difficult to do business with'is a good thing like you appear to be making it out to be. In my own and I'm sure your experience wouldn't you rather give your business to a company that is easy to do business with? Where you pay a fair price for a good product? Being 'difficult to do business with' does not tie in with the 'great businessman' we are told constantly he is.
  24. Why? Everytime in the past Ive shared anything I get snidey comments and told that I am making it up or people didn't realise NC consulted me on matters.
