They'll probably chose the newly extended 100,000 capacity St Marys Stadium mate played in by the English Barcelona, so we wont have far to travel.
-
Unfortunately football isn't like that any longer. Unfortunately i did miss that era, my earliest saints memories at the 03/04 season. Football will have to change dramatically even for a repeat of what Blackburn did in the mid ninties. Sad, but true.

Who was it on here who said we would get crowds of 45k if we were in the premier league because Liverpool do and they aren't very good at the moment? I am sure it was Le God Third Coming.
-
You are confusing being a misery guts with a realist. We've had talk this week of signing players like Micheal Owen, current England internationals and top 4 PL players, expanding the stadium, champions league football, copying Barcelona etc yet we have on average at St Marys we had 10,000 empty seats on average last season and we've yet to kick a ball in the championship. Lets take one step at a time shall we rather than getting ourselves at it with dreams of hosting champions league semi finals against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona at a sold out 55k capacity SMS. FFS.

It's a five year plan to get to the premier league, not the champions league FFS.
-
no it doesn't. We are two years into a five year plan to get back into the premier league, we have 3 years left of it. FFS.

When he was banging goals in for S****horpe in 2006/07 he was playing league one football. Take away that record and his goal scoring record in the championship really isn't that special. You have to ask why wasn't he getting a run in Sheffield Uniteds side and has only done anything at small clubs. THink you need to check your facts before calling others ignorant.

any chance of bullet points next time? Chelsea, Leeds, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton Man City. All teams you mention that are far bigger than Saints are. You are talking 100's of millions of investment to take a team into the the champions league, which the owners wont get back, hardly fits the club being self funding model the Liebherrs spoke of when they rolled into town. You've got 3 teams that are current fixture in the CL, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, then 3 teams beneath them who are fighting for 4th spot, Spurs, Man City, Liverpool, beneath them there are another group of clubs, Everton, Villa, Newcastle even Sunderland, who are bigger clubs with bigger fan bases than Saints. We'd have to overtake all of them just to have a shot at 4th. Look what happened at Villa when they got a sniff of potential success and regular place in the top 6 and a club with more cash came in and took their best players and their manager quit because of it. Villa are a bigger club than we are. Dream all you like about champions leauge football and of copying Barcelonas model of developing the est young players in Europe for the first team is all well and good, but Barcelona are one of the world biggest clubs that a lot of kids dream of playing for, Saints are not.

Whats the obsession with Billy Sharp? His name came up a few times on this thread didn't Sheff United fans call him Billy Blunt? His scoring record isnt that great if you take out his time in L1 with S****horpe.

I seem to remember Plymouth saying they were heading to the Premier League a few seasons ago. When we start walking the walk then and only then will i start dreaming of trips to the San Siro, lets just think about the Championship for now shall we, before everyone starts getting themselves at it FFS.

what was the name of that absolutely pony centre half we signed from Spain last couple of seasons at the Dell? Kevin Keegan perm, shockingly bad.
-
To be honest i am flattered that someone would consider my contribution to this forum so legendary that they would put my forum user name on the back of their shirt.

It really isn't me.

upper mid table and two wins over Pompey. We cant expect play offs. We owe Pompey one big time, last two games against them have been heavy defeats, we really need to out the record straight and we need a win at Fratton Park.

Dullest Poster - Matthew Le God Most deluded poster - anyone that suggest Scott Parker, Micheal Owen and Shay Given are going to sign for us Biggest "look at me i was right" poster - Nick G Saints related quote of the year - "we can sign who we want, we are the most attractive club in this country outside those playing in the champions league" Le God Third Coming Non Saints related quote of the year - "We've just lost the ashes 5-0" Alpine Saint after the first day of the first test.

/\ This and i raise you Jelle Van Damme, cost £2.5m, obviously didn't want to be here and only made a handful of appearances. Sold for less than half 12 months later.
-
The only player that was a coup was Fonte. The rest of the signings we made were the best players in L1 at the time or players struggling to get a game in the championship, hardly earth shattering and dont be fooled into thinking Gully and Waigo were proven Serie A players, they weren't. I dont understand why people think there will now be a whole host of premier league players and in some cases international players queuing up to join us as the new boys in the championship. Even the ones bench warming, are they really going to take a 50% or more cut in salary to come and play for us?
-
Isn't the OP talking about players who made zero contribution to Saints, regardless of where they were before or after? Another one of those would be Scott Marshall, highly rated centre back signed from Arsenal, who made 2 first team appearances, scored OG's in both and we lost both games 3-0 and 4-0.
-
Again i agree with you Jamie, this is become an all to common occurance.
-
Immants Bledilis is surely up there. His sole contribution to the cause was to come on at half time when we were 3-0 up, hardly touch the ball and help us turn that lead into a 4-3 defeat at Tranmere in the FA Cup, c2001. Pretty outstanding by anyones standard.
-
I'm surprised at this to be honest, surely they'd have had a debate on http://www.theAnkaragücüweb.com, similar to the one we had on here last season when Vassell was linked, discussing if his goal record for England would make him a decent signing for a club of that level and coming to the conclusion that he probably wouldn't.
-
So we sell Hammond & Barnard for 3 times what we paid for them, Holmes for £250k FFS! What planet are you on? he's only played a handful of games since he joined us. ALso check your totals, £4m??! More like £2.2m.
-
I agree with the OP. this has to be a priority for the close season. The most important thing that needs to be done is to sort out the queues and the quality of the beer and food ao the gutty c*nts amoungst us dont have to queue to stuff food down their faces.
-
Why are you doing this? It's pointless.
