In a trip down memory lane Lincoln in the league cup was one of my first ever night games. It was in about 1987 or 88, i dont remember much about the game except Saints won 3-1, Lincoln had, for a smallish club, quite a large and vocal away following IIRC two of the three pens in the Archers road end when it was a terrace and Lincoln had a goalkeeper called Mark Wallington who said thank you to the crowd behind the goal every time they threw it back onto the pitch after it and gone into the Milton Road end terrace.

Some of the nonsense stats rolled out during the World Cup about receptions etc, I know geeks love it but only one stat matters. If football was played on spreadsheets all players would walk around with keyboards.

None of them do. None of them have achieved anything in the game and they’ve all been part of some abysmal form and performances for a year. We’ve got some players with decent potential but they also haven’t achieved anything in the game yet. None of them have earnt the right to question anyone.

I don’t know about the World Cup. For me enough teams are involved already. All that will happen is you’ll end up with more weaker nations and there will be more totally one sided games that it becomes a bit farcical in the early rounds. as for the world club cup, just another money making idea, clubs are already moaning they play too much, so something will have to give. Hopefully it’ll be domestic football and they do one.

I’ve watched blackburns last two games and despite the hype have not been impressed by Ben Breaton-Diaz at all. Looks a very average player who hasn’t impacted either game at all. He’s got a very good scoring recent record in the championship but don’t think he’ll add much of rumours are true we are in for him.
