Yeah I agree and not concerned we won't get the players we need, just that he sounded hopeful of someone arriving this week and whilst that may still happen, it looks unlikely now. VVD was surely unlikely to sign this week anyway due to their CL game and status, so wonder who he was thinking of as a possible.

Yeah of those thete aten't many you would class as a "good" draw, although some tougher than others. Big, big benefit being seeded. But obviously out of our hands and no seeded team would be hoping to draw us!

If we need 3 upsets its pretty tough judging on the first leg scores. At this stage would be more like 40-60 to be seeded.

Seems based on most opinions that for the next 2 years the output from the Academy will be fairly limited. Shows that we have been so lucky the past 5 years, and also that the 50% vision is exactly that. We could easily name a PL team of all non British players this season. Hopefully they will fast track some of the younger ones through.

Simple question: with Turnbull, Stephens and Gallagher out on loan does anyone think there are any young players who are good enough to feature for the first team this season? None have overly impressed in pre season (Stephens aside). Gape, Isgrove and McQueen probably aren't up to it, McCarthy is a maybe unless he is also loaned out. If not he is the closest. I do like the look of Hesketh but he is so slight I don't think he is physically ready yet. Seager gets goals but is a poacher in the Sharp mode and we don't play that sort of style and are well stocked with attackers. Anyone else who is near? Sims and Slattery the most hyped but its probably a season too soon. NB: Counting Reed and Targett as first team players.
