Everyone hopes he can be easily replaced. Not just me.
-
Any names? Easy to say things like that, and would also have been easy for Spurs to get the Celtic scout if for some reason they wanted him. But they didn't. Good spot whoever took him from MK Dons though, hopefully that was Reed and he can do it again.
-
I"m sure he can be replaced but do you know any names of these scouts with much better pedigree? Also he is the Boss of the Scouts so Head of Recruitment.
-
How do you know that lol? He isnt judged by league positions and might have earned himself a huge pay rise.
-
Hopefully. But sooner or later losing important members of staff to rivals will stop working out ok, surely?

Agree we should look to keep people like Mitchell but if we don't its not being "negative" its just football. As I said before, wouldnt suprise me if he goes based on the info we have. Stories about backroom staff rarely are leaked if they arent true becaise its not the kind of gossip that sells! It was probably leaked by Spurs to make their fans aware they are trying to improve things. Read the Echo article. Its all about how Saints wouldn't welcome an approach etc but wouldnt be suprised if one came. Sounds a bit like the kind of comments made about MP, would you not agree? Also worth remembering under which regime Mitchell was hired.
-
Which of the points do you disagree with then? Think the story is entirely fictional and made up by Journalists? Spurs want him. He may want to go (nobody knows) but its not beyond the realms of possibility that like MP he thinks Spurs are bigger than Saints. Remember he isnt a Saints fan, he is a person trying to push his career along and is sought after in his field after work done here. He may see the chance of rebuilding Spurs' scouting as a way to put himself in the frame for a job at one of the very biggest clubs. What is wrong with that? See if you can give a proper answer rather than the "you don't support Saints routine".

All he really says is that he needs to change the "mentality" and the Journos all swallow it up without asking what he actually means. However to be fair the guy whilst they have a few decent players they have a lot of **** blokes. The difference from here I guess. Personality and character are as important as skill.
-
Pretty obvious that there is an interest on at least one side and it would not suprise me at all if he went there. He will be thinking of how to advance his career just like anyone and may feel, as MP did, that Spurs is a better way to do that. After overseeing the last window and the new facilities on the recruitment side, what more can he do here? Whereas Spurs is another challenge where he can start from the bottom.

Not with Shaw though.

Some chat in the press today about us offering Morgan a new deal, although hard to see him signing one surely? Still nothing on Cork, Jay or Clyne whose situation is rarely acknowledged. Villa set to lose Delph on a free this summer when he is worth probably 10m in todays market. Just shows the importance of not letting players get into the final year of their contracts as there is little incentive for them to sign a new one. Especially players who qualify as 'homegrown'.
-
Problem with Crook is he just doesn't really know anything that a normal fan doesn't, he just transcribes press conferences. Mirror article with his name on it saying Saints wouldn't welcome an approach for Mitchell....no **** Shurlock. I can't remember a single story that Crook has ever broken on Saints that hasn't been somewhere else first.

Bit of a blow. Shows (again) that despite what happens on the pitch, Spurs are just a bigger club than we will ever be. Hopefully with the great setup we can find a good replacement. Bit of a worry that he will know our summer targets though and be well aware of the situations re Clyne, Jay Rod and Schneiderlin, although most would be. Wonder if the club have bigged him up too much of late in public?
-
He wouldn't get any games. Yeovil maybe.
-
Only way would be CL qualification. Otherwise another 3 or 4 of the best players will go in the summer again. We just pay the price for having better players than the game dictates a club of our size should. Which, of course is great.
-
The challenge of turning it around?
-
Will be interesting to see if we can keep hold of him.
-
Would be a shame to lose another English player, especially as we all know they are not cheap to replace and Jay was top quality last season. If we bought Long for £12m and then sold Jay Rod for a fraction more than that then I would say that is quite poor business considering the ages, potential and difference in class between the two.
-
Wrong. It took us 18 games to get 25 points last season.
-
Maybe the player wants to rejoin the Manager who got the best out of him? Afterall, he was offered a five year deal here and didnt want to sign it so not beyond the realms of possibility that he will leave in Jan because if he isnt committing then we should sell before his value starts decreasing as his contract runs down.
-
Carrick and Walcott havent played this season and we don't need 3 left backs - just be brave and don't pick one of them.
-
Especially on such an upbeat topic.
-
Some more Cork chat in paper yesterday saying Swansea following his contract situation. Arsenal starting talks with Walcott who has the same time as JR and Clyne left on his. Hopefully we are trying to secure them.
