  1. Reports pretty clear today that Schneiderlin still wants to leave, which of course he does. At which point does it become silly to keep a player who so obviously doesn't want to be part of the club?
  2. JWP's best attribute is switching the play, his long passing is excellent, but so far this season we have played him too far forward to enable him to use it. Agree re tempo though. Morgan far more dynamic than anyone else.
  3. Not in the same way Townsend is. He can beat a man, but usually in a tighter space. He isnt as powerful and in terms of being a goal threat is someone that is likely to get 1-3 a season which isnt enough for us IMO.
  4. Im wondering which side, Saints, Spurs, or the Townsend camp is behind the latest stories. Could be any of them, all would have their motivations.
  5. Morgan, Tadic and Bertrand won't feature so debate largely irrelevant.
  6. Jay plays wide but moves inside. Lallana floated all across the front line. Koeman wants the wide players to play wide like Tadic has. We dont have any genuine wide players who are good enough (Tadic aside). Also if you play like that then you need a central midfielder who bursts into the box and is likely to get 8 or more goals a season. We don't have that either. Also worry that Pelle won't create anyrhing for himself, although may score with good service. If you play with one up and two wide men then the central striker has to be capable of running in behind otherwise the defending side will just push really high up the pitch and condense the space, not allowing the wingers space to move, as WBA did really well. Really need someone who can carry the ball and is a threat running in behind too. A player with the attributes of Dries Mertens, Kevin Mirrallas or Jesus Navas if obviously not their quality. Have seen Redmond mentioned but he isnt that type of direct runner and has no club goal record to speak of.
  7. Simple question: Koeman clearly prefers a 4-3-3 with genuine wingers. Do we have the players in the squad to carry this out? Our last two Managers havent played with genuine width so we havent really bought a traditional winger since Steve de Ridder. I wonder if we can make that formation work with what we have? When bringing in a Manager with a clear preference for that system, have we done enough to support him?
  8. Got to be looking to get him tied down to a new contract ASAP.
  9. Would he bothered leaving Stoke to be a bit part player here?
  10. Cameron would be ok as cover, nothing more. Pretty bog standard player.
  11. Everton are getting Etoo and also in talks to loan Welbeck. They are operating in a different league to us. Fair play, have a cracking Manager too.
  12. Everton also getting Etoo. They are operating in a different league to us. Fair play, have a cracking Manager too.
  13. Well, he was training in the video.
  14. Wanyama was there. Ramirez too. No Morgan, Tadic or Bertrand from the starters on Sat, but I wouldn't have expected those to play myself.
  15. Carlton Cole lined up for a move to Bournemouth which is an interesting one. Much worse than Pelle?
  16. Pelle should be first name on the teamsheet. If anyone needs a goal and to adapt to English football, it is him. Tadic can have a game off IMO.
  17. Reading keeper McCarthy is likely to join QPR. They will have two good keepers with Green and him so its is possible to have a better no 2 than a 38 year old Kelvin.
  18. Brad Friedel on 5 Live Friday night said the gym working Poch gets players to do is unlike anything else he has seen in his career. Said when he watches Chambers he can see the benefit he would have gained from it, and that basically its a massive part of their training regime. We do still do double sessions though. Have to say loads of Managers talk about pressing but Poch is one of very few that has a systematic style to it and it is recognisable from very early on in his teams. That aspect is the most frustrating to miss as was good to watch and we often started games well because we were straight onto the front foot.
  19. Some utter rubbish here. 1. Pretty sure Poch's tactics were the best of Saints Managers in the last 20 years. We actually had a style. It was a massive blow to lose him, he is firmly on an upward trend. 2. Can you name even three of these Shaw mistakes? 3. We have lost more than potential with Chambers. He has started all three Arsenal games and will be in the England squad. How can you say the RB situation is "the same" when we currently have no cover for Clyne and the guy we let go is getting rave reviews. We are clearly weakthere there NOW. 4. Isgrove over Townsend? Jesus.
  20. Wil only get Clasie if Schneiderlin went and they are quite different players. Of course Morgan still wants to go. You wouldnt change your mind by just having a weekend off. Seeing how Spurs are playing probably makes him more determined. Our midfield had no shape on Saturday, Morgan was still trying to press but the others didnt.
  21. Also reporting that Spurs have told all clubs he isnt for sale. Could well be a ploy to increase fee but if its genuine then hope we don't waste too much time and then end up loaning Gabriel Obertan in a mad panic on the last day of the window
  22. One of the most offensive things I've seen written on here, which is quite an achievement. Certainly worthy of a long ban.
  23. Childish IMO. He is the one that keeps baiting Cortese, not the other way around.
  24. Harsh, Dave.
  25. I think Barry and Shane have moved seats this season though Mike. When Rod and I went to find them at half time there was no sign of them.
