As it comes round to the time where some players are let go, what is the current status of some of our players? Of the first team squad is it only Guly whose contract is up at the end of the season? I can't see him being offered a new one. Then, I think Fonte and Cork both have just one more year left, so hopefully those will be looked at. Further ahead, Jay Rod and Clyne then have 2 years left. For JR especially we need to look at his, as by the time he is back from injury it could be just over a year to run which would be a dangerous position for us to be in - hopefully it will be looked at over the summer. Any other key ones?

He obviously isn't lying. At the end of the day, he can't 100% guarentee that nobody will be sold, because you never know what might happen, someone could offer £50m for Shaw, or he might hand in a transfer request and refuse to play for us again. What Reed has done is been honest about things as they stand now, with the facts as he sees them. He was very clear, and it was a great statement - things might work out differently, but it has to boost the confidence of any Saints fan that whatever happens there is a plan, and a good level of organisation at the club. Regarding MP, he seems a principled person, who could easily have walked when Cortese left, and I am sure he would not string the club and people like Reed along. Quite possibly Reed was instrumental in identifying MP alongside Cortese so I am sure MP has some kind of loyalty to him. I am sure he is still 100% committed to the job (and would be even if he knew he wasnt going to stay here because that is what he is like). He will appreciate being allowed to get on with managing, which you don't get at all clubs. I liked that Reed spoke about improving the squad, so hopefully we have some things planned in that area too.

Ramirez is definitely out.

Agree - absolutely pointless to play Guly. He has had a few chances in the PL, and hasn't made a meaningful impression in a single one of his PL apps aside from maybe away at Stoke over a year ago.

Nine - will reduce to 7 if we let key players go this summer.

Agree, and if we get top dollar and can reinvest well and keep the rest of the players then we could improve next season. Only caveat to what Reed says is that the selling club usually the last to know when their player is sold.

Which obviously we won't. Worrying times this summer if what VMAN said is true, which Im sure it is. Jay Rod injury a worse blow than it appeared at the time. Our attack could look dire come the first game in Aug.

Mail says 55m from Utd for Shaw and Lallana. Resigned to losing Shaw but if we lost Lallana too that would be gutting. No doubt the Academy then is another way to make money rather than provide our team with players.

Plus the fees owed are most likely instsllments for the likes of Lovren, Ramirez, Wanyama, Osvaldo, Jay etc. Regardless of opinions on the players they are financial assets, so not like we get nothing for the money.

Exactly. What we owe is minimal vs income. The fact they made such a big deal out of it was a conscious ploy IMO. Its not so much debt as running costs of a football club in the PL.

Usually when they aren't in one of 70 odd pics it means they weren't training. Which often means they don't play, but not always.

Strange not to hear from MP today. Presser nearly always on a Thursday before games on a Sat.

Gallagher IMO isn't ready yet. He needs more time playing U21 football and very ocassional sub appearances , or perhaps a loan spell, rather than being the first change option up front. Obviously losing Osvaldo and Jay Rod has brought on the need for him to play more, but he isn't at PL level, might get there, but not yet.

Do the current hierarchy know that though?
