Im sure he prefers Liverpool but you would hope that we wouldnt both negotiating a deal with Inter if he was not at all able to be persuaded to join us if a fee was agreed. Surely his agent would have given some kind of indication. Or perhaps we arent really that keen and they are using us to get more money out of Liverpool, which is fine really - no time wasted by Saints, just frustration for the fans but ultimately we don't know 99% of what goes on behind the scenes.

Really? We have 4 CBs and two of the country's best Full backs. We had De Ridder and Chaplow as attacking MF options on Monday.

Why would clubs negotiate offers such as that without having any inkling that the player would be keen on the move? End of the day if he likes his wage its possible he would move here. Tomorrows Times says Liverpool have offered 8m and us 10m but player prefers a move to Liverpool.

IMO this rumour is the laziest of all. Played for Gaffers old team and brother of our player = moving here
