  1. 1995 league cup replay game vs Spurs at the dell. I worked with a bunch of lads who were spurs fans and we raced into a 2-0 lead and with more chances to before the half. The dell was buzzing and we were cruising. Ronnie Rosenthal came off the bench and fired in 2 second half goals. We went to shit in ET and lost 2-6 by the end. Got pelters from the spurs lads for the rest of my time there and still mad about it now!!
  2. Is the pitch one of those hybrid surfaces to take account of the rugby? Seems like everyones passing and touch is just off it tonight.
  3. Another lively day at SMS - glad to have witnessed it and enjoyed it with the Block 3 Saints. There were quite a few spaces at the back of 3 and 4, which surprised me. Support-wise, we made a great noise, that is sometimes lost due to the wider acoustics of the ground - but lots of good to and from with the Northam lads. First half was a surprise - and if this means we were getting a bad spell out of our system, let hope so. Huddersfield came out gunning for us, and it upset our rhythm. We played like we knew we'd win, without earning the right to do so first. Once harried, we lost shape, our passing game went to shit, and we were kept on the back foot. We had a few chances, but these were few and far between (Arma tried to be cute with the 1on1 and it didn't work) - neither of their goals came as any real surprise. I hoped for a half-time hair dryer and that seemed to be delivered. With the changes made (thankfully) we looked a different outfit after (whilst the power-up lasted). Rothwell's brace sent us into a frenzy and from then, I felt that we were not going to lose the game, but still looked fragile in parts. Even after their third, which was so flukey as to be unsaveable, I felt that we'd get something. Something about their blatant time-wasting from even before the half told me we'd make them pay for doing that. Fortune repaid us with the OG, and from then on it was one-way traffic (save for one cross of theirs that was right in front). Mara and Edozie goals were the product of our adaptability and hard work - total scenes in Block 3 by the end! Not what I fully expected, but a good day out nonetheless - time to learn, regroup and go again Tuesday. COYS!
  4. Fuck. Horrible, horrible deflection.
  5. This is like a game of Mario kart where you get a power up to you get back into the race, and then it wears off
  6. Hope Russ has the hair dryer to hand at half time….
  7. Such a shame that the FA Cup has come to this. Draw known before all initial games played. The league now so much more important so teams sacrifice their participation. The "magic" of the cup is sadly no more....
  8. Surprised they took Asprilla off - he was running rings around Holgate.
  9. Decent set of changes there...
  10. Have we still got the receipt for Holgate - hopefully we're not beyond the returns window....
  11. We need something - we look like a pub team that just met for the first time the car park at the ground....
  12. Offside AND Handball...?
  13. The keeper is the only one who has shown up for Swansea today....
  14. was it VAR tissue?
  15. Glad I went to the game and didn't follow it on here - there are some who are living in a parallel universe 🙂 First class performance from Fraser today - no stop effort from beginning to end. MoM performance by 10 mins in. He also brought Meghoma into the play very well. I liked what I saw from the other younger players - SAA was solid, Tyler and Bragg looked very at home. Impressed by Lumley, a good shot stopper, owned the role very well, was confident and VERY vocal to the players in front of him. Cant get all the hate for Charlie on here - thought he had a measured game and with two (almost three) selfless and spot-on assists. I like having him around. All in all another good day at the office - let's see who's next!
  16. Watching this one live at Saint Mary’s again. Totally dominating the game but with little end product. Wee man ruining their right back every time. Either no-one or six players trying to get on the end of his crosses. You can tell it’s a bit of a scratch team today. We also seem to be playing like we are 3 up, but need to be simpler and more go forward in our play. Even RM is telling the team to get it forward faster than they are!!! A good talking to and an orange and let’s see if we can be a bit more ruthless in the second half…
  17. Pretty much the same for all of the BBC and R5 output - all the good non-sports presenters jumped ship to Times Radio a long time ago.... and as for the callers, well....
  18. Ref needs to get a grip on this. I'm all for good strong physical football, but Norwich are getting pretty agricultural with their approach.
  19. As a member of the keepers union, we just do strange shit sometimes. This was such a moment…..
  20. Back home after the game. First one for me for a while because of a number of life interruptions, but a really good fun evening. For all the howling on here at our players during the match, the result was never in doubt. Yes, we could and should have scored more, yes there were a few missed chances, but the performance was totally dominating. Yes it was a silly goal to give away, but that doesn't happen if it was 1-0, and who cares in the end anyways. It was fun and a real tonic to be back at it in-person, and will be going more and more in future. Reading some of the in-game comments, seems like a few here could do with the same medicine. With the other results, a fine evening all around. COYS!
  21. Sat at the game with Mrs Elmore Saint. Solid half with everything but the end product. Ref a bit all over the place. Confident that we’ll get it in the 2nd half. Big shout to the chapel lads with their singing and all.
  22. Too easy - Shamrock Rover's top scorer, Paddy Fields...... next!
  23. Also amazing to think that in that list are 6 current PL teams....
  24. Three recurring themes.. 1. Toothless up front 2. Susceptible to a counter attack 3. Shite after the break
  25. Absolute legend and brought us the best times in our history. Happy to be there and along for the ride in those days 🙂 Was also able to get consistently high performances out of a group of older and experienced players in a way that few, if any, managers are able to do today.
