  1. <soapbox> Why can't RM see the reality of the league we are in? The Prem is the place for all the high-pressing and high-possession malarkey. The Championship is where the Prem was about 30-years ago. Just look at what Ref's are letting go - we yet are still in the falling-about / entitled to free kicks premiership mindset. It's not going to work. We have to wake up and recognise where we are. Think about the old Arsenal teams of the 90s. An old wise head between the sticks, couple of hard bastards running the spine and a solid striker up top. How many other Champ teams at the top end / recently promoted look like this? Most, if not all I'd say. We have some, but not all, of these elements on-board, but we choose to be all smart-arse and hipster-ball about it. Let's get back to some basics Russ - starting with fitness, a basic shape and using players in their coached positions. </soapbox>
  2. The most depressing thing about our situation is that there are a host of names, mostly on my "never in a million years" list, that all now look like a pragmatic improvement on what we have. We are not (quite) at Branfoot years in terms of management - but we certainly are in terms of ownership.... Get a grip Dragan!
  3. and their title winning team - coming off the back of a "Great Escape" - no scar tissue in sight with the right man at the helm....
  4. He sounds totally done in AB's interview... Usual trite bollocks - "one crap mistake", Che was unlucky..., Were getting better..... Point was a fair result.
  5. and Selles bags a 9-0 win....
  6. This is all on SR for me, I thought it was perilous under Gao/Semmens - but apparently not! Everything they have touched since they came in (and elsewhere) has turned to shit. How many managers? How many backroom people coming and going? - just no fucking idea top to bottom. Sorry Dragan - you need to step in or fuck off too....
  7. Leicester look pretty shit - and yet we are able to look shitter.....
  8. Player song? - Downes with the tackles........ ?
  9. Let me guess - a fucking great garden path with a load of people heading up it..... Reminds me of all the "Help me Rhondda" WUM shit from all those years ago...
  10. Caicedo having 'second thoughts' over Liverpool move Sky Sports News has been told Moises Caicedo is having second thoughts about a move to Liverpool. The player and his representatives remain in London. There is no official word yet if Chelsea have returned with an improved offer for the Brighton midfielder. Plot twist? How annoying would that be for the Scousers?
  11. In their wonderful way - football has adopted technology without considering any of the wider usages, implications and ramifications of doing so. Early VAR only served to highlight the shortcomings in the laws of the game - which body part / armband / appendage is or isn't offside for an example. Add in ball in/out laws, goalie moving for a pen etc etc....The lawmakers never looked at the available technology and the laws in parallel. Hence we have an equal mess as frustration as before. Also, why haven't they brought the technology and applied it so it means something to fans in the stadium and at home? Why are the refs and Stockley not Mic'd up live - a la Rugby? Same for timing - you want a game with 60 mins of in-play ball? Have a definitive clock, not some arbitrary 19 mins of added time. With my tech-head on, I would be interested to see how AI might be able to analyse things in realtime to speed up the process. Football needs it's spontaneity to be real to those who watch, but it needs a total rethink about how technology can help, and help at speed, eliminate the most glaring of errors.
  12. 2022 - We score, muted warm feeling, sharp intake of breath, checks watch, looks at referee with hand on earpiece, looks at screen, checks phone to see who is on duty at Stockley, wait some more, when/if it's given, the moment has passed, reaches for a gentle sip of beer.... 2023 - We score, I cheer, cat goes mental, beer everywhere, dopamine flows, the excitement of sport stays real. I'll take the odd duff call as a cost of that.
  13. "Now that Henrik and myself are moving closer to the action, we’ll pick the team, we want to run the club day-to-day to make sure we do everything to make this a success.” Noticed a missing comma in the DE article from Rasmus' comments. I've corrected it here for everyone... 😉
  14. The day superbly recounted by Jasper Carrott.
  15. We get onto a streak of billionaire owners and the prospect of reasonable, even good times coming. Except the last lot just go and crash the car. So Saintsy. Perhaps Semmens can go and chat up that Finnish bloke who was sniffing around ManU recently. He seemed to have something about him…?
  16. Time for Dragan to turn up, open the door and usher the board out along with the coaching staff and most of the players. If he can't do that, then his time is up too. I've seen several Saints teams over my years that were less talented than the opposition, but they always fought for the club to the end. I cant even begin to feel anything for a team that has given up like this lot have.
  17. by a mile - several miles in fact.
  18. And alongside Jones we need these 2 imposters out of the door….. We were lucky to have Markus bring us back from the brink before. Sadly this crowd has done more and lasting damage to our club and reputation. Total clear out of players, management and administration required..
  19. So Rasmus. What bullshit stats are you going to pull out of your arse to justify this horror show? Jones AND Ankersen OUT!
  20. Rasmus and his “Reference Point” horseshit. He is as complicit as Jones in our downfall. What a pair of prize pricks!
  21. At least Dia only lasted less than half a game before he was found out….
  22. Nathan Jones. The Ali Dia of a manager…
  23. He’s simply the wrong man and needs to go now. His football is wrong, his attitude is wrong. All totally incompatible with SFC. We need to wield the axe now, but unfortunately whomever we get in next will always be a downgrade on who we might have got in pre-WC. So sad to see the state of the club now, perhaps more so than even the Branfoot days 😞
  24. Watching the broadcast feed which is refreshingly commentary-free (worth trying). Thought we had a decent first half but still lack a cutting edge. Nice to see Alcarez having a go, and orsic cutting in from the wing has some promise with some sharper build-up play. I’m not missing Che and still think we look better without him as a passenger. Newcastle do look decent and we’ll need to keep our heads on especially with this referee dishing out cards….
  25. This lot has to be a bunch of clones with some dna modification to the talent and commitment genes? Are the originals bound and gagged and in a shipping container behind Dock Gate 20? Don't care if they are, I’ll take some more of this!
