Quite happy to hear you list the other factors - be my guest.
-
One has presided over a record of 4 points from 12 games which the other has not featured in - I know it won't convince you but that's how I see it.
-
What about any bad manager seeing as that's what he is?
-
You can't defend the indefensible.
-
I didn't claim that I did but one thing I am certain of - ABK is doing far less damage to the club than Russell.
-
It's commonly known as bullshit.
-
Me too. Just had it now with having to suffer through this ridiculous vanity project which the vast majority know will end in abject failure.
-
Has Dragan sacked the lot of them yet? I thought he was a successful businessman.
-
I see Russell was happy with TP's display and admitted he probably deserved a start before now.....no shit Sherlock!
-
Stick him on gardening leave if we must - he's doing it to ABK! Just admit the error, draw a line, get rid and bring in some fresh ideas.

I kind of get where you are coming from but yesterday was the exception rather than the norm. Most of our play this season has been boring and tedious and I think Tall Paul helped add a different dimension yesterday. Why RM ignored him last season and for most of this is something only he can answer but he seems to have these stubborn traits which cloud his judgement. I and many others on here believe we have a team capable of far more than RM's methods are getting out of them but he has admitted time and again that he has no intention of changing. A good manager will weigh up his options and set up a team to get the maximum out of them. There is no better feeling in football than to see your team go out and put on a performance to be proud of and, having supported the club for 60 years, I've seen plenty of games where we punched way above our weight and used what we had to maximum effect thanks to good management. I'm sorry to say I don't think those sort of performances will happen under RM because he is too set in his one way of playing which, clearly to most of us, doesn't work. We have always been a team that concedes plenty of goals but, on the flip side, we've always been capable of creating and scoring plenty ourselves by getting the ball forward quick and also pressing high up the pitch. I'd love to see those days return but it won't happen under the current manager and his coaches who fall well short of what is needed.

If TP is still with us I reckon he'll score far more goals than Adams managed in the Championship - that's assuming he gets picked which should be a given after the skills he demonstrated yesterday against top quality defenders.
-
It's not clever or superior and Martin clearly doesn't have anything approaching the skill set to coach it. He is trying to look smart but is making himself look ridiculously stupid. He will never be talented enough to teach a team to play this suicidal football because he clearly doesn't know how to - if he did it would be reflected in a continual improvement in our performances but we just see the same old errors leading to soft goals. His level is the Championship and he should accept that instead of this vanity project which is ruining our football team.
-
Agree. Sometimes you can clearly see a player thinking 'I should be going long here and clearing the danger' but they've all been brainwashed so they dither about looking for a pass that is either not there or shouldn't be attempted and, by then, the opponents have the sniff of blood in their nostrils and are all over us like a pack of hyenas.
-
We are continually giving soft goals away by trying to play suicide football from our own six yard box and this tactic is 100% on RM. I couldn't give a monkeys which individual player makes the error leading to a goal because the root cause is with RM and his possession football. This is what most fans are up in arms about. Mistakes will be made and some will lead to goals being conceded but what we are trying to do under Martin is what lemmings do when they see the edge of a cliff.
-
Yeah...the first international break.
-
When players are constantly drilled not to kick long the first instinct is to look for a shorter pass - unfortunately, by the time a player has had that instinctive thought the damage is often already done. This is something RM is ingraining into the players and the only way to stop it is to replace him. Until such time as we do these stupid goals will continue week after week. Every pundit and commentator in the land can see it and so can my dog who is almost blind.
-
Let me know when he conducts an articulate interview cos I've not heard one yet.
-
We are clearly trained to play this way and as most can see and, demonstrated again today, it is ridiculous. As an example England mix up going long from Pickford with playing it out from the back when space and time permit. By playing long as well as short the opposition don't know what you are going to do which will often create the space needed to play out from the back. By playing Russball the opposition know exactly what to expect and they set the traps to pin us in accordingly with the rewards we see time and time again while our players are constantly under pressure. It's not rocket science.
-
Agree - he also says it in such a way to suggest that it's not his fault the players are not gifted enough to play his way. So it's a kind of backhanded way of accepting blame.
-
The point is a new manager is not going to submit these players to the same level of pressure which leads to many of these mistakes. Not everyone plays Russball. If you don't get that I'm afraid I can't help you.
-
Can only blame the coaches for that with all the equipment and assessment/measuring available today. Lazy coaching if your squad is not as fit as every other in the league. No excuses.
-
Change him to what? His top level is the Championship and he'll never aspire to anything more.
-
Thanks for your input Russ.

Doesn't count for much but our move for the goal scored by Fernandes was the pick of the game. We completely gift wrapped Liverpool's first two goals and conceded a stupid penalty although Sugawara could be considered a little unlucky. This habit of conceding ridiculous goals must stop but clearly Russell has no idea how.
