The problem is we clearly can't afford to shop for players above the level of someone like Szmodics. We can only buy what we can afford which leaves me wondering why we've wasted so much time chasing Matt O'Riley.

Szmodics scored one and had an assist for Blackburn.

Callum O'Hare looking good for Sheff Utd and they got him on a free transfer. Think he'd have done a good job for us.

I didn't specify how high a priority I think it is. Someone posted that we need a GK, STR and AM and I simply added that I think we need a defensive midfielder too. To be honest all 4 positions could be considered as priorities in equal measures in my view because currently our first eleven looks very weak.

Have you not seen the lack of a midfield shield for our defence? I'd say it's one of the most important positions and we still haven't replaced Romeu with anyone half competent.

He may have said it but there is no evidence that he'll be putting his money where his mouth is. No problem with that as it's his money to do as he wishes with but no need to make empty ambitions that get the fans hopes up. Better to tell it as it is ie we won't be spending much.

Which begs the question, why did we go after Matt O'Riley as we clearly couldn't afford him? It's a bit like turning up at a Lamborghini showroom with 6 quid in your pocket.

I would suggest that's money down the drain because it was always fantastic when just re-seeded.

This has always been my bugbear - if you are never going to mix it up you become very predictable which is never a good thing.

My understanding is that the pitch is re-seeded every year. If that's the case you'd think any previous disease would not affect it this season. As others have said we always prided ourselves in the quality of our playing surface so not sure what has gone wrong.
