Ok, what if someone started supporting us after we got to the cup final in 2003. They start coming to home matches, get hooked, are devastated when we go down but continue to come to matches and support the club the the CCC and L1 and back again. Are they plastics cos they came when we were doing well? They came and are still here. Why should it be any different for anyone starting to support us now that we are back in the prem? Some of 'em will stick and some will fall away but I don't see the need for the plastics label.

It was cheaper in L1 and we were winning more. Surely, that makes it easier than now doesn't it?

Somebody help me out. What exactly is a Plastic, and a Happy Clappy Fan? It seems to be fashionable to call people Plastics. I don't get it. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. Ok, I know it means plastic, as in not real, but what's a real fan. Define it. What if you went to see Lord of the Rings but didn't read the book. Are you a plastic? What if you go and see band x live but don't buy their albums. Are you a plastic? No, I'm sure that you're just trying to have a good time, that's all.

This all smacks of the kind of thing where somebody would disown their favourite band cos they've sold out since their second album started getting some radio play leading to a mega summer hit, followed by a massive stadium tour now that everyman and his dog loves them, and he preferred their first album and the first tour was great cos, like, there were only 50 there and it was, you know, before they sold out and stuff, and we met the band and you know, they were great guys and had real soul and that, and now they're just takin' the money producing crappy chart music sh!t. But I saw them when no-one knew who they even were. Yeah!

Right, I've got him and hebberd mixed up I think.

Who's that between Holmes and Channon?

Look, I support Southampton cos it's my home town and I spent many great afternoons and evenings at the Dell, but even when we moved to St.Mary's it seemed as though something had changed. It's not the same, you can't compare the Dell to St.Mary's, but, it's called progress, and keeping up with modern football stadia was a necessity, tons of clubs have done it. Christ knows where we'd be now if we still played at the Dell. Anyway, my point is, things change, and if we become a successful club over the next decade, then so be it. I'll be lapping it up, only wishing I was twenty years younger. I won't be turning away cos we've become too big for our boots. Nope, bring it on.

Well, I doubt it will go to 58k in one go. Probably to 40-42k at first, then more later. I thought the current design allowed for a whole new layer all the way round?
-
Not the topic of the post, I know, but is the tour worth it Daz?
-
You know, a lot of people say "oh, I loved it in the Championship". Well, we were only in it for one season cos we did well enough to get promoted. Would you love it so much if we were stuck there for 10 years barely managing the play offs?
-
Just a slight contradiction across those posts, hmmmm?
-
Why? Cos you think the attendances would be lower? Is that what you want? So it's easier to get a beer? Jesus Christ!

When is Ramirez going to start justifying his price-tag?
Webby replied to Sheaf Saint's topic in The Saints
I see what you're thinking now. If the manager, as you say, slams us into reverse, we might be able to go back to the time when Forren was fit. Genius. Now, where did I leave that De Lorean? -

Indeed. -

Clearly he was talking about Forren. -

You said the manager had slammed us into reverse. How does the above back that up? -

Jos isn't good enough. A forced change with Fonte injured and Forren not yet ready. -

Really? Care to explain that? We went to man utd and matched them on their turf. 2nd half we were better than them. -

While I do think that gaston will come good, he's not doing it at the moment. In the last two games when Davis has come on, he, and the team, has looked better. Whether that be down to the personnel or the slight change in the way we play with Davis in instead of gaston I don't know. I'd start the next game with what has proved to be the strongest team, the team that has shown a significant improvement in the second halves of those last two games. Btw, in terms of value we haven't lost anything cos if gaston has slipped to 7m then jrod has stepped up to 12m cos he was magnificent today, he really was. -
There was a thread somewhere that asked the question of which players may improve under MP. I can't find it now, so this will have to do. I think most thought Ramirez would improve cos of the south American connection, but he has gone backwards IMO. Alas, he does not seem to be a player for away games. Puncheon has also gone backwards. I felt he was one of our better players before but he's been awful in the last two games. Davis has come on and done an excellent job and JRod has been excellent in the last two games too. I think he should stick with Davis and Lallana vs City next week. Hopefully, Adam will be ready for 90 mins by then, or at least 75 mins. Davis will just add that little bit more control in the midfield than Ramirez.
-
I think he's been brilliant in the last two games especially. He seems to have found some confidence and belief from somewhere as I feel that's all that was lacking before. MOTM today without a doubt.

Shaw could've stepped up there.
