  1. Southampton are reportedly interested in signing goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco from Deportivo Alaves this summer and, if he were to join, he could usurp both Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster and become first choice under Ralph Hasenhuttl According to reports from Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Leeds United and Southampton are keen on signing the 28-year-old shot-stopper this summer, with both reportedly willing to pay the €10m (£8.6m) that Alaves would demand for their number one. The former Real Madrid youngster has been a mainstay in Alaves’ side for the past six years since joining on a free transfer from Los Blancos, making 207 appearances, in which he has conceded 257 goals and kept 67 clean sheets. The football scouting website FBref rates Pacheco highly when it comes to passing, as he scores 95/100 for his passes over 40 yards completed. In the same statistic, McCarthy scores a measly 2/100. https://www.footballfancast.com/southampton-fc-news/southampton-saints-fernando-pacheco-ralph-hasenhuttl-alex-mccarthy
  2. ignore edited original post
  3. Did ralph address switching this in the city post game ? presume he thought Macca better with the ball at his feet - which he quickly disapproved if that was the case.
  4. Just a FYI Benders led league for outfield players leading to goals last season and currently is the proud holder of our only OG this season, will be interested to see what the CB plan is next season, assumed it was originally Jannik out and Salisu in but Jannik has been very good this season. I am also amused how prevalent the dunning-kruger effect is in forums, myself included always over estimate our knowledge and its easy to forget that those we criticise have the complete picture and real time pressures to deal with in this compressed season which in my view has exposed how important player recovery is to make our style work, taking away recovery has led to the increased player burn out (klopp also has this problem) and further injuries which unfortunately for us this season has been critical since Dec. Get 2 more wins and then plan for next season - also really like what Tella has done in his short stint on the inside left position, lots to build on. https://www.verywellmind.com/an-overview-of-the-dunning-kruger-effect-4160740
  5. Will be interesting, not sure if Walcott is back, how bad moussa is etc etc but with Japanese Messi and Diallo starting along with KWP I can see only a win for us.
  6. Given Pep's playful 18-0 comment I would play 1 keeper and 10 defenders
  7. I think if Puels teams played exciting fast tempo football that excited the fans it wouldnt matter if he was mute.
  8. Send him on loan to kandahar fc
  9. The problem he never seems to realise is if it is always someone elses fault that means he can never fix it.
  10. He's going to force teams who play high a bit further back as they know he has wheels.
  11. yeah fraser was really good with feet and decison making yesterday
  12. I have enjoyed Tella's play when over the last few games, that directness, the pace is such a welcome option at last and complements what Armstrong offers from the right. Keep it up and become the best Nathan at this club.
  13. Diallo quick ball from our midway in our own half to Tella was sublime, was much deeper than I thought when I saw the replay. Che Adams Roy of the rovers to the top left thank you very much
  14. can i be the first to say Tella is Jonno quick
  15. I assume this is a joke
  16. Without derailing this into another redmond thread why don't footballers proactively work on how to manage their confidence with a sport psychologist given i hear this excuse again and again "low on confidence". If I am redmond - I look at myself and realise I need confidence to play my best but my confidence is not robust, crowds can get me down, when its not going my way i retreat into safety first etc. Speaking with someone to put things into perspective etc about your job, what makes you happy and giving them techniques to use when needed surely should help them. Someone on here must be a sports psycholgist or been to one at least and can inform a bit better ?
  17. Ok lets start this optimism bandwagon back up again ahead of saturday. I look at this team from the other day and i see NO ONE who would worry me as a southampton fan, they may say the same for most of our team except for Danny Ings but I'd think they would worry about JWP as well at least. I see CB's and wing backs who could be flustered by our pressing and I dont see too much pace in midfield so assuming Diallo is back we have that advantage there as well. For me this is a good looking championship team (hard working, bit of quality) so the question is can our current team beat this lot ? I'm saying yes as I expect Diallo and KWP at least to provide the positivity and spark to raise the levels.
  18. I hope they need someone to pass it backwards and sideways alot
  19. Go the reggae boyz
  20. Shows what we were like that season. I think Redders won player of the season because it more of a participation award that season as he had 36 appearances when the next player was hoj on 31. Ings & JWP had 7 goals Redders 6 Long 5 Using whoscored as the rating sytem both Jan and Jannik were rated better that season than redders.
  21. 10-0 win for us Every outfield player to score, janik's is a 50yard screamer
  22. The most I've got from this thread is Heisie is back. Where you been ? enforced leave of absence ? jail ? back from secret agent stuff ? or finally took the time to spend some of that winnings on a holiday ?
