The BBC wouldn't talk about it unless they were near 100% confident. Based on that, yes, I now believe its possible. I fully admit I was sceptical earlier. If he could stay injury free, I think he'd be a fantastic addition.
-
Ian Dennis just said on Five Live that Matthew Upson is still on the cards, or something to that effect...
-
Now you're talking. Got to have a bit of The Jam.

Could someone please fetch my hat and some cutlery? Thanks.

I think we can rule that one out. Same old story, Mr. Sibley will tweet first I imagine.
-
If you believe there's a salary cap in place, you have to wonder if there'll be any other business if he does sign.
-
Hmm! Now that IS an interesting one. Sky wouldn't go for it unless they were fairly confident. I have to say I'm surprised. Just hope the wages aren't mahoosive.

A lot of people putting faith in him. Not sure why.

Fair enough, you're right, seven appearances this season, but I still cannot see that one being realistic. Given his injury record it'd be a big gamble too.

Given Adkins has to do a pre-match press conference, I rather doubt it. Another one for the doubt pile, a Mirror journalist seems to think we tried to sign Matthew Upson on loan and are going for Danny Collins as second choice. This is how stupid it gets in this window, we're linked with someone that is first choice at a Premier League club. Never going to happen. To be honest, it may not even be true we want Collins!

saints to win race to sign Jamie Vardy

Rasiak had scored something like 20 goals for us by January in the play-off season if I recall! -

Let go by Reading allegedly because of disciplinary problems. One word from an academy manager and you may never play professional football again, so it may well have been the case something happened at Reading, they got rid, people warned against him signing and he was forced to go into non league. Another one for dropping into non league camp. -

Having had the benefit of seeing Matt Tubbs about three or four years ago on loan for Bournemouth, I can tell you that he can be bloody awful. I think he's doing well at Crawley because he's surrounded by players that are above and beyond the average quality of League Two teams. Crawley rendered the Conference uncompetitive last season thanks to their spending (which as it happens, will stop at the end of this season because their gate receipts aren't good enough, as they have admitted themselves) and I say that with 100% confidence. I interviewed an AFC Wimbledon player last season who said that from day one no one was ever going to catch Crawley. Their wage bill was huge and they had massive strength in depth. Vardy may well be a prospect and yes there are examples of good players coming from non league. But most of them have dropped into non-league, not started there, and £1 million? Absurd if you ask me, all those prospects I talk about signed for league teams for non league money. Look at Tony Cascarino, signed for some corrugated steel and some tracksuits! Millwall had let him go as a kid, proving the whole dropping into non-league point. I'm quite sceptical about this, and for good reason, once you look hard enough at the situation. -

Yep and Fleetwood was five years younger when he went to Charlton and did have a good football education with Cardiff. Vardy has no such background. Fleetwood Town want a big price for him, and that's probably the only reason League One and Two clubs haven't gone for him. -

You're the one getting worked up over nothing, not me. I really don't see how I'm wasting yours or anyone else's time, I'm not forcing you to read anything, but there it is, the moral of the story - don't like it, don't read it, don't respond to it. Oh and if you can keep up, I'm an advocate for getting people to talk about the ****ing team, so don't come to me with your holier than thou crap. With Puncheon I always took the attitude that if we need him, we should use him, no one player is bigger than the club etc, because he is an asset as you rightly say. -
Most likely because of the positioning of their FX microphones.

I genuinely don't know why people get so worked up. This is a forum. Dalek doesn't bother me at all, but if he wants to play silly buggers I don't see why I can't play too. Whether he's smart, stupid or just playing some mind game, I don't care. Why can't I have fun taking the ****? -

You don't know an awful lot about football do you? Appealing for a manager with a **** poor success rate to take over, for example, gives me that opinion. Basically, you get 11 'players' and try to put a spherical object known as a 'ball' in a 'goal', but here's the fun part. You can't use your hands, unless you are a 'goal' keeper. A goalkeeper... -
Yep and I have to say I'm sick to death of the tune we sing 'we are Southampton, we're top of the league' to. It's used for the Lallana song as well and it's boring now.

The bit in bold is perfectly true, but there's also a long way to go, so to say next season will be our year and thereby rule out promotion this season is just wrong. If you're being realistic in your own head or on a wind up, you need to stop really.
