It makes me wonder about Pardew actually. He made fairly obvious signings. We needed goal scorers, so he went and got Lambert and Barnard, well known names. He needed a tough midfielder, he got Dean Hammond, again a name anyone who's been around the Football League long enough will know about. Since he's gone, we've seen less obvious signings from further afield, De Ridder and Hooiveld for example. I wonder if Pardew was starting to get undermined by scouts and people above him making the calls. Guly's debut was Pardew's last game in charge... I can't imagine Nigel has had much of a say in who we've bought, perhaps other than Johnno Quick.
