  1. Bought him on Football Manager a few years ago. Good stats, don't think he was much cop though.
  2. They sold out their allocation ages ago, and there are still people after tickets. I think I'm working on this game with the Beeb, I'll make sure to get the attendance figure in somewhere...!
  3. You are of course correct, my mistake. It was however described as 'the Eton of the north'...
  4. I'm sure they couldn't either mate, but we all have our own reasons. As for the Eton education thing and telling people how to live? Blair went to Eton and it was his and Brown's governments that led us to coin the term 'nanny state'. Whilst I have my political allegiances, I've learnt fairly quickly you can't trust any politician and really there are no winners in politics, so it's not worth getting in a state over it. I think you are right in saying that there's no real alternative at the moment either - it wouldn't surprise me if Ed finds himself out of a job soon. It'd be a big, big deal, the Labour leadership isn't as easy to dictate as the Conservative leadership with the 1922 Committee, but it's not been all that good so far.
  5. I thought it was solely based on attendance. My mistake.
  6. No, what I'm saying is, you think every person that votes Conservative has a trust fund and has their lives made for them. I vote Conservative, not afraid to admit it either, but I'm unemployed, am not well off and am struggling to pay a monthly phone bill of £37. You tell me if your description is fair.
  7. I've no doubts that it was a motivation, but was it a case of people turning up to get the money each week or did they actually turn up and actually show signs that they were learning? You're right though, any system is open to abuse really, and the case of my friend is neither unique nor the norm, I dare say EMA was a brilliant thing for a lot of students. I think a lot more people should be encouraged to do vocational courses - when I was at school and college they were looked down upon, when really, they are courses that teach valuable skills that will always be needed.
  8. I echo a few people on here who are disappointed to see him leave. Just hope is replacement is suitably sh*te. Trouble is they're getting about £300,000 or so for him so they can splash out on a successor. EDIT: I've just read it's going to be Dave Jones. Hmm.
  9. You've not heard of stereotyping have you?
  10. Oi. Leave my thread out of this.
  11. EMA? It was a system that was open to abuse. A friend of mine's father worked for Pirelli, and was very high up in the business. So high up in fact he made himself redundant and walked away with enough money to live on for the rest of his life. Because my friend was only seen to have one parent in work, he got EMA. What did he do with it? He walked from college into town and bought easter eggs from Somerfield. I'm not against the idea but I am against a system that is so flawed that it allows that kind of thing to happen. If EMA's withdrawal shows a decrease in people going to university, which as I have said previously is at a level that is unmanageable, I'm afraid I'm not dead against it going away. It's a horrible thing to say and I believe everyone should have the choice, but it really is just so unmanageable. It really, really is.
  12. I've got a job interview on Thursday. Hurrah!
  13. Bad thread, you've got a post on it. Coincidence? Surely not. Interesting nougat concept though. Never considered it.
  14. Realistically, given a Snickers is just a Mars Bar with peanuts, it has to be the winner doesn't it? More food for your money. That said, a Mars Bar does have a certain something about it. Over to you, SaintsWebbers.
  15. Could be worse. I look out my window each day and see about 10 - 15 wasps flying around. There's a nest somewhere nearby.
  16. Ben Stiller will feature in a film adaptation of the classic BBC series 'Rentaghost'. What do we think? http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/1090482/ben_stiller_gets_to_work_on_rentaghost_movie.html
  17. I think it was recent yeah, can't recall the shells bit though.
  18. I'm now determined to find the documentary I saw and post the clip on here. I'll see if I can find it on YouTube.
  19. Nope, knew that already. He's a nice guy, don't think he's a decent manager though. Anyway, speaking of Forest, Frank Clark is back! As their chairman. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11727_7237806,00.html
  20. For the life of me, I can't remember where I heard it. It could well have come out when that rumour that Badger mentioned was doing the rounds, but I definitely remember hearing that somewhere.
  21. Quite agree Mr. Badger. He has achieved naff all in the grand scheme of things. I have to say I think he did a good job last season with the fishy few, given what he inherited and where he took them, that's not half bad. They could so easily have been relegated again in the hands of a lesser manager. Other than that? League Two title with an expensively assembled team with a lot of media attention and in only something like 12 games. Yes I remember that, glad it wasn't true to say the least. I swear I once heard that he's a Saints fan too. Saw him every home game at Dean Court, he was always very shifty and keen to avoid the media. Not sure he paid for his tickets, he always had the same seat near the press and executive seats.
  22. I have to say I'm sceptical about the idea - has it really been used before or is that just rumour? It's so impractical and probably creates more problems than it solves. The media (people like me) will have a field day on this one.
  23. There's an explanation for that though. I was at Bournemouth when County put that great run together. Throughout the season, Cotterill was at Dean Court watching League Two football for free, and I could see him making notes. I thought at the time that he was ready to step in should Eddie Howe leave in the future. He knew a hell of a lot about the division and that probably came in quite handy with a decent squad at Meadow Lane.
  24. Why would Forest want him? Why would Bristol City want him? It's absurd. His stock must be so incredibly low at the moment. I suppose he has that accent though.
