This. Plus he left kompany on his arse. Almost worth his transfer fee for this goal alone. But not quite ... Lallanas v hull was pretty special too, though.

Alps as Clyne? There is no up and down going on, it's just down, down, down. Turkish is osvaldo. Spikey, difficult character who thinks he's a cut above the rest, but aside from the odd moment of brilliance (goal v man city) is not very good, a waste of time, and generally loathed by his team mates. In terms of the team, has to be victor for me. Our defensive record with him in the team means he has to play, much as I like cork. And agree, chambers v Clyne is difficult, but Clyne edges it IMHO.

Precisely this. Our inability to score many is far less of an issue if you're not shipping goals at the back, and wanyama does an excellent job protecting the centre backs. Saying we need more creativity here is missing the point of our tactics. He operates as an advanced third defender which allows our full backs more freedom to get forward. It's no coincidence that our results have been markedly better when he's played. Cork is an excellent player, but wanyama playing means more points.

The amount of rubbish spouted on this place? Who knows ... If Norwich had signed him along with all their other acquisitions theyd be some team.

As good as or better than lallana?
-
The way I see it, this is probably coming from an agent (his or just a middle man). Lallanas stock is as high as it might ever be, and he probably sees it as his job to ensure he gets the best possible deal for his client, to take advantage of his current status. Of course, if lallana does move the agent will also get an enormous pay day. By drumming up interest, whether Adam wants to leave or not, it allows him to approach saints for a better deal, with all parties knowing that another club will happily pay the extra wages. I doubt he earns as much as gaston or osvaldo, so you can't blame the agent for trying. In terms of possible destinations, Liverpool are the most likely; there's only the champions league clubs plus united that are likely to tempt adam enough to consider a move, and I don't see room for him at Chelsea, City or arsenal. United have to prioritise their defence and holding midfielders, so unless they ship out some of kagawa, Fellaini, zaha, Valencia, young or nani I doubt they'll go for him either. Liverpools squad is thin and they have a champions league campaign ahead so can see why they'd be interested. I personally think he will stay, and I certainly hope so. I think the rumours have come from somewhere, but also think its miles away from being a certain event.

Brilliant. Not sure I'd leave silva out, and Cech is a surprise, but fantastic recognition for our players. Well done both.
-
Glasgow or Barry? If you had the misfortune to be locked in the room with both, had a gun, but only one bullet, who would you choose to shoot, and who would you try and kill with your bare hands? Too tough for me to call.

Don't worry, one day you might reach the Johnstone paint trophy final.
-
You keep telling yourself that Turkish, but you don't need the *****rs to appreciate the hotties.
-
That's like saying if I spent my life ****ging only really fit birds I wouldn't appreciate it fully, so much better to mostly **** utter dogs to really appreciate the fit ones. What utter gibberish.

Except Chelsea have about 200 millions worth of talent more than we do. How about trusting your players, taking the initiative and having a go. Oh, and the ghost goal is footballs greatest myth; if it wasn't a goal it was a nailed on penalty.

mourinho is parking the bus.

Wine and pizza actually. And while I take your point, if every game was like this football would not be the great game it is. This is no less anti-football than the long ball football of 20 years ago. Which do you remember more fondly, steaua beating barce on pens, red star doing the same against marseille(playing for pens from the 5th minute) or Liverpool beating Milan in Istanbul? Win at all costs is very professional. And utterly dull.
-
I understand being defensive, but if you don't offer any threat, you're just inviting more pressure. I'd have played Ramires Central instead of either mikkel or lampard (he's better at that than either), and had oscar, schurrle or even salah on the right. And it'd be a far less dull game for us neutrals.

Um, well yes, I didn't think I was tuning in to a friendly. And he's not just recovered from injury, he's been fit for weeks but overlooked for playing a right back in his place. IMHO cole is the best left back we've ever produced, but he looks well off the pace. Understandable due to his lack of games, but good enough for England on this form? Absolutely not.
-
I disagree. The World Cup is the pinnacle, so you take the best possible squad. Give youngsters experience in the euros but the World Cup is about giving yourselves the best possible chance. After the Denmark friendly I would still have taken cole. If baines gets crocked 10 mins into our first game I asked myself who would I rather rely on for the rest of the tournament and it would have to be cole. Based on tonight, I'm not so sure.
-
Along with about 7 of his team mates. Will always support the english representative (except Pompey, obviously) but would quite like a Madrid derby as the final.
-
Miss-placed a pass badly, dallied dangerously on a clearance. Looks (understandably) rusty. He will probably have a blinder from now on ... But currently looking good for shaw!
-
Only vaguely saints related but anyone watching Chelsea? Ashley cole is doing his best to get Luke on the plane to Brazil!
-
Sunseeker would be an odd choice for a main shirt sponsor. I mean, it's rather a niche market isn't it. Still if it's the best commercial deal, why not?
-
In terms of attitude I'm sure there was a story that came out of the club shortly after Patrick vieira joined along the lines of: Vieira: what do you want out of your career? Richards: an England regular, trophy winner and the best defender in the country Vieira: so why are you the last person to get on the training pitch and the first to leave? There is a reason he hasn't become the player he could be. He's still young enough as a defender to change but will he? I don't know. And he's currently on 80k a week, not something we could get close to.
-
But it's not just about effectiveness, it's about style of play as well. Pulis has done a great job at palace but I wouldn't want to watch his brand of football every week. The stoke fans had enough after a number of years of over achieving because it's dull. Same goes for big Sam, lambert at villa and moyes. Moyes has no idea how to take the initiative in games which is why he's failed at a club that has to take the initiative in almost every game they play. We are way below their level, but I'd far rather watch the current saints side determined to try and win games with nice football. For some football is just about the results, but for me (especially at a club that's never likely to win anything big) it's more than that. Knowing I'm going to watch good football and a team having a go makes me look forward to our games. The same can't have been said for Everton fans under moyes, however well they did. I'm sure most would agree this season under Martinez has been far more enjoyable.
