I can't believe the asylum are letting him out twice in quick succession. Maybe they think he's getting better, but judging by what I read I'm not so sure.
-
Think you misunderstood, I meant FFP is not a reason why we can't spend big, because we aren't in Europe. People keep mentioning it as a reason - not saying we will, but if we don't it'll have nothing to do with FFP.
-
No thanks. If he goes(and I'm far from convinced he will) I'd take a punt on uwe rossler
-
Exactly right. Gotta love his arrogance 'stop your whining, we have to do something so do what i say'. Well what about the fact that all that time, money and resource have come up with an idea that will encourage the big clubs to hoard players, have them playing at a worse level, and restrict opportunities to lower league clubs? Do you mind, Greg, if we open our mouths to just question if that's the best you could do? Christ alive, why is football run by such morons? Judging by this board, the bbc board, and the commentary I've read and heard I think about 90 per cent of fans think this aspect of the proposals is utter rubbish. But don't worry Greg, you go ahead because it's clearly better than doing nothing.

Wish people would stop citing FFP as a reason owners can't spend big. It only applies for clubs in european competition. Plus we've yet to see whether it's all bark or some bite too.
-
So no away goals then. Thought so. I don't want to think about that play off any more ...
-
Don't think theres away goals. What were the two results when we went to pens with derby?
-
Maya? Not a first teamer. Ramirez? Same. Osvaldo? Will be leaving. Lambert and possibly shaw? In the squad but will hardly play. Lallana? Possibly, but England's likely early exit will soften the blow. Apart from perhaps lovren, I really don't see it being an issue.

So what's wrong with my ideas?? I've suggested a few things that to me make a hell of a lot more sense and I've not had dykes time, money or specialists to call upon. I think his idea stinks and does damage to the lower league clubs, as well as pitch the youngsters development at conference level. Not sure it deserves much support.
-
Impressed with the derby keeper. If they don't go up can we have him? Also, much lol at Derbys second goal.
-
Remember it well and was very unimpressed. But, I'm a bit of a traditionalist and fan of successful and traditional clubs, so will be supporting derby. Brighton are not a premier league club (and neither are Wigan) so derby or qpr for me, and for obvious reasons I'd rather it be derby than qpr.

I'm going to have to go there - do any of their packets have England or Switzerland players, though? I have the entire Greek and spannish sides twice, but just three for England. And I only have maya (twice) out of the saints players. Most frustrating. I'm going to spend the weekend doing swappsies with my nephews who are young enough to be allowed to get excited by this sort of thing. I really am far too old if I'm honest.

Did any of the crew get a selfie with him, like pompeys captain?

Lots of negativity towards the idea (and I agree) but little idea what else to do from most people. So here's my go at an alternative solution. Issues are lack of english talent (how's that helped by playing conference sides?), too many foreigners throughout the league system (but we have eu employment law to contend with), a stockpiling of talent by the rich few, a bonkers loan system, a host of clubs in financial difficulty, and a big, historical league structure that needs protecting. So, I suggest a limit of 45 pros per team, 25 first team and 20 development squad players aged under 23 with no limit on academy players except the 45 must include all players on a pro contract to stop additional players being hidden by their age as an academy player. A full development squad league (outside of the league structure) allowing a max of 5 players from the first team squad to play, and in return any of the development squad can play in the first team. Any player who plays 50 per cent of the first team games must be registered as a first team player to again prevent them being hidden as a number in the development squad. A limit to the number of non eu nationals (suggest 2 or 3). A residency criteria for being allowed part of the development squad (I.e. X number must have been resident in uk for 5 years) to stop them being filled with foreigners). An auction for the lower league clubs to have the right to loan all excess players from each premier league club. I.e., Chelsea and arsenal have say 60 pros, 15 need loaning out so clubs can bid to have the right to loan who they want for a one off fee. Wages still paid by owning club, but (for example) Swindon could bid 5 million for the right to arsenals excess players. This would allow lower league clubs the ability to choose to bid cash in return for players for a season without having to commit to contracts for journeymen pros, allowing some financial freedom. If done once a season it would also prevent lower league clubs becoming permanent feeder clubs for the elite, allowing flexibility for when clubs rise and fall through the league pyramid (one of the best aspects of english football which needs protecting and isn't by dykes suggestions IMHO) and allow clubs to retain their dignity and identity. This would also help the big clubs manage their finances better within the ffp scenario, and also mean they don't have to make decisions too early on which players they progress with. Maybe the fee could also include the right to some coaching assistance from the big club for the season as well? Big clubs have great resources, including the number of coaches so why not encourage the sharing of this resource as well? Bit random and rather off the top of my head, but IMHO somewhat better thought through than dykes tripe. And I gave it 5 mins consideration without a huge salary. Surely with all the 'specialists' at his disposal, the massively overpaid dyke could have done a little better?

Has she got enough money? Yes. Will she choose to spend another few tens of millions to make it happen? Don't know but kind of doubt it.

Thanks

But he's not american, he's Canadian. Americans shoot each other all the time, including their own president. Canadians play hockey and drink beer. You can trust Krueger.

Really enjoyed that. Out of interest, who's the music by?

The three relegated clubs made 3 of the 4 most mental managerial choices this season (west brom the other) so can't say I'm surprised in hindsight, but would be lying if I said I called it until about a month ago. Palace and Sunderland both looked certs for the drop at different stages. Some utter dross has survived, though. West brom, palace, hull (with uefa cup) and villa will all struggle next season, as will the three who come up. Think Sunderland will push on now.
-
Well, yes, but west ham aren't exactly rich these days. Would be extremely surprised if they could afford both the fee required and the additional wages.
-
Oh my word. Why would wanyama want to leave for west ham? Why would anyone buy j rod this summer rather than wait until January to check he's fit, recovered, and returned to being the player he was before his injury. And why would saints sell about 90 millions worth of talent in one window? We don't need that level of money. Oh, and osvaldo may well want to move to juve full time, but I doubt they're as keen somehow.

Not sure about lallana being off - certainly not the immediate impression I got. Most interesting award for me was the academy award to hesketh. Seeing as Gallagher made it into the first team I thought he'd be a shoe in. The way they made a big deal about it being an all round award for football and education, makes me think either gallaghers not great as an all round person (unlikely as I doubt he'd be near the first team if that's the case) or that they think extremely highly of hesketh. If so, would be nice to see a cameo on Sunday. Also, for sims to get nominated given his age indicates he's potentially another special talent.
-
On a personal level my best moment is his non-handshake with that utter cvnt terry. Great player for us, and for Chelsea for a while before form and injuries took their toll. Would have loved him here as shaws backup this season, especially as it ended up being his last as a pro. Good luck on whatever you do next.

Not only is it a bad idea for the lower league clubs, it's a bad idea for all but the wealthiest premier league clubs. Can we afford another 20 plus players? We could of course use our academy and development squads but they already have their own competitions, so what is the point? It's not like we'd get much additional revenue for the extra outlay. And for any club dropping out of the premier league, the reduction in revenue is horrific enough to deal with, without adding this extra burden. As ever, an idea that only helps the very elite. A regional 4th tier as has been mentioned above is a good idea IMHO, reducing travelling times and distances and creating more local derbies etc. this would help with protecting interest levels in lower league football.
