  1. While not strictly my best and worst moments ... Good Dani Osvaldo turning kompany inside out, leaving him on his backside and curling the ball into the top corner with complete precision. Bad Finding out he'd gone mental and would never play for us again!
  2. Can add my sincere thanks as well. We were in a truly horrible place as a club and look at us now. What a journey!
  3. That was just awful - clearly 1980s Liverpool. Whereas this is 1980s saints through and through. The club have listened and will reap the financial rewards IMHO.
  4. Really? I mean, I agree with the 1.6/10 remark, but I, like many, have always found Turkish to be a bit of a kn0b.
  5. Absolutely love it, can't believe it's taken so long to reproduce what I think is our best ever kit. Appreciate its a matter of opinions, and some feel that our traditional stripes are the only right way to go, but I've always found it does nothing to stand out from the stokes, sunderlands, Sheffield utds or even brentfords of this world. IMHO we always look better doing something slightly different - the sash, the Hummel shirt, the original of this, even the admiral stripes of the 70s, all were classics versus the humdrum of basic stripes. I haven't bought a shirt since the 1990s when I was young enough to bother, I will definitely be buying this. I suspect this will be by far and away our biggest selling shirt to date.
  6. Have to say I'm confused today. When the Puel announcement was made, I assumed it meant they'd lined up his replacement, otherwise why not announce it at season end if they knew they wanted a replacement but were happy to announce it before getting a replacement? The lack of noise and Tuchel's apparent rejection today does make me fear something hasn't gone to plan. I'm not a Les Reed luvvie or basher - he's been a part in one way or another of our return from league 1 to the second best period of our history (in my living memory) so clearly isn't all bad, even though I question certain things he's done. But something doesn't seem right today. Of course, look forward to being proven very wrong and overly impatient.
  7. I agree with you on Smalling, but Delph would surely be as a second holding midfielder, so up against PEH, Classie and Reed, not the three you named. And personally i think he's significantly better than all of those. Yes he'd need to take a wage cut, probably subsidised by Citeh, but in that scenario i think he'd be an asset.
  8. 0.9 / 10. Possibly being too generous
  9. If hull go down, they could provide both with maguire and Robertson? Must say I've no real insight into how he's doing this season but know he was highly rated. I also believe both are out of contract this summer, but could be wrong. Another one on a similar theme is Kirchhoff at Sunderland. He was a big part of why they survived last year but has been injured most of this season. Not sure free transfers from relegated sides is the best recruitment policy, but there will be a couple worth looking at you'd have thought.
  10. I think Taylor, isgrove, Flanagan and Martina will be released. Would happily see us sell gardos, classie and j rod, and loan out targett, reed and probably hesketh. Like most have said, areas to improve the team are centre back, centre midfield, and GK unless Forster can remember how to play.
  11. That's horrific! Anyone know if we're offering him a new contract? Ends this summer and given his loan spell surely deserves to be retained?
  12. Trolling at 11:23 on a Saturday night? Wow, I admire your commitment. Seriously, I mean truly seriously, you need to get a life.
  13. Paul smith. Couple of stunning games for us, then disappeared completely (via qpr I think?)
  14. So you think we have more chance in a competition with 63 other teams including Chelsea, arsenal, Man U, man city, Spurs and Liverpool than in a competition with 3 other teams including Man U and Liverpool? Don't get me wrong, Liverpool are clearly favourites in the league cup, but we have to prioritise it, it's patently our better option of success.
  15. Why? We haven't played even one more game since the last one, all that's changed is we have one completely unsubstantiated rumour. The knee jerk reactions to results is bad enough, but to a forking rumour?? This place is mental.
  16. Sorry, meant to say it's happened a lot with championship teams, not specifically Norwich ...
  17. Second string for me for a couple of reasons, firstly I think Norwich will play a weakened team; in recent seasons it's happened a lot as gaining promotion is far more important. Their Derby result aside, they've been in poor form but are in range of the playoffs so I'd guess they'll rest players to target the league. Secondly, Tuesday is far more important and we have a much better chance in that competition simply because we're one of four, not sixty four still in it. I know the fa cup has the history, but in all reality both cups offer exactly the same thing - a route into Europe, loose change in prize money (compared to the league) and a day out at Wembley (well, 2 in the fa cup ... Though God knows why). We have to prioritise the Liverpool game IMHO.
  18. I think we should do a poll after every single game, just to feed the knee jerk mentality on here that little bit more ... Voted in, have many doubts and frustrations, especially the lack of options going forward. The quality of the bodies available is not puel's fault, but the lack of numbers of bodies getting forward is. Hopefully we address the first of those issues this month, and then we'll have to wait and see. Plus I can't see any sensible alternative option available. As we' re unlikely to go down we may as well see out the season to give us better options in the summer. Happy to see black get sacked though!
  19. So how will that magically happen? Surely it's up to the manager to motivate his players? The players must take some responsibility, but to say Our current malaise is nothing to do with the manager is ridiculous IMHO. Fwiw I agree we won't sack pull, at least not now. It will cost us money, there don't appear to be any sensible replacements available (I like rowett, but he has limited experience, and none at this level) and fortunately for us, Swansea, hull and Sunderland are so poor we will almost certainly stumble across the safety line no matter how bad we are. But something does need to change. With the formation as it is, as soon as the 'shuttlers' get the ball the only free players are either behind them or on the flank. There's only one central forward option and he's marked by two which might work if we had a lambert or pelle... But we don't. We desperately need at least one more player positioned up top or just behind the forward. We can either do that with a 4-2-3-1 formation, or by going to three at the back. I personally would prefer this option. Not his best game today but yoshi has been decent this season. Wing backs to provide the width, and move the wide forwards much closer to the striker. I think both tad if and bouffal would be more effective in more central positions, and they'd lose some of their defensive responsibilities.

I like to be supportive of all of our players, and especially our academy products. But I can't help feeling that he is just progressing enough. Yes, there has been some improvement over the years, but at his age he should be making more of an impact. Too often the game seems to pass him by, and he lacks composure at critical moments, especially in front of goal. For me he's our 5th ranked midfielder, and given the choice I'd start investing in the likes of hesketh (possibly gape next season) than persevere with someone who I just don't think will make it. I wish I felt otherwise, but that's what i see. On the plus-side, even in the championship he'll earn more in a year than most of us do a decade, so I'm sure he can take some comfort from that ...
  21. My vote at this stage has to be in. There's a clear (and wealthy) top 6 and we're just about best of the rest, and in a semi-final of note for the first time in years. Given the squad and continual upheaval that really is no mean feat, and to be able to continue to blood academy products is also a noteworthy success. But ... I am frustrated, mostly by the negative football. I remember someone explaining how in most countries you try to win first, but in French football you try not to lose first, and wonder if puel is a product of this mentality. I love saints, but no one can convince me that this seasons football is enjoyable. I don't have an issue with the rotation. People keep banging on about playing twice in 4 days, but it's not a one off, it's every week, so it's 3 times in 7 days, 4 in 11, 5 in 14 etc. If that isn't managed earlier in the season it will catch up with you. Remember the villa side under o'neill? Never changed his side and were on the verge of the top 4 for 2 or 3 seasons until about March when they fell off a cliff. But again, I wonder if puel hasn't grasped the pace of English football and the need for fitness. After 20 minutes of pressing we stuck ten men behind the ball for the rest of the game, and yet Romeu, Davis and jwp all looked shot to pieces at the end? We look unfit, or at least off the pace, and negative. This is cause for concern long-term IMHO, but I think the risk of changing the manager at this stage is too great so would rather we stick as we are. I probably err on the side of the happy clappers, but must confess I'm not particularly happy right now.
  22. Thanks - a previously reliable source?
  23. I'm sorry, but this is where people's dislike of a player on this site really frustrates me - trying to blame them for everything. I have my concerns and frustrations with Redmond, but to suggest he's in any way at fault for bompeys goal is ridiculous. Redmonds job was clearly to watch for runners on the edge of the box, and ake was peh's man. Redmond readjusted his position when bompey changed the angle to Wiltshire, so yes made a step out, but we had two spare men on the six yard line, one of whom was the stationary peh. Who was meant to be marking ake. He was not even remotely to blame, he did not lose his marker and did not step out aimlessly. And later on it was his determination to chase down a ball that led to j-rods stunner. Redmond is not the new Henry, has poor end product at the moment, does not get his head up often or early enough and can be very frustrating. But trying to blame him for other people's errors is not fair IMHO. His work rate should be applauded, and his speed and trickery acknowledged for the problems it causes opposing defences.
  24. He is, but I think in terms of balance puel likes one striker, one tricky and pacy player, and one creator for his front three, which is why tadic replaced boufal, not Redmond on Sunday. I think he'll want the same balance, he certainly won't want less pace against Spurs where we're more likely to have periods defending, needing pace for the counter. I'd be amazed if its tadic and boufal.
  25. Different board, different manager and different director of football. Not saying it couldn't happen but the scenarios aren't exactly identical.
