    VVD Replacement

I think as much as anything we just got tired. Lamina and peh both got knocks, Romeu was on a card, and this killed our aggressiveness. Not helped by the fact that dembeles yellow card was at least half an hour too late, allowing him to continue at full throttle.
  2. Didn't someone suggest this move was linked to us buYing their young right back? If so, any news on that? Also, with sessegnon there I'm not sure how much game time targett will get ... unless sessegnon is off somewhere?

    VVD Replacement

All valid, but ignores the issue of defending set pieces, which we're dreadful at. A better centre back would help, as indeed would a lump of a centre forward. Kane out muscled Stephens and ended up against gabbi yesterday, the very two positions in question.
  4. Well I for one am protesting today ... voting with my feet. We're going to get thumped, the atmosphere will be somewhere between dreadful and toxic, the players look like they can't be arsed, the manager clueless and the board directionless. It's cold, wet, the game is on tv. Shame I have a season ticket so it won't really hit the club in the pockets, save for an overpriced pie and pint. But if anyone connected with the club thinks they've done anything in the last month or so to deserve me making any sort of effort to support them they're living in cloud cuckoo land. Bee a supporter for almost 40 years and there's times when I've been sad, angry and disappointed. Don't ever recall feeling this apathetic though. Maybe it's my age but I'm finding it a real struggle to be bothered right now.
  5. In terms of the op, what a load of cr4p. We've been served the most turgid football imaginable for the last 18 months and won less than a third of our home games in that time. Added to which half the players don't seem to give a sh1t. On a more general level, support these days is a different animal to 30 years ago. It wa great in those days when 5000 away supporters would turn up to trade abuse to 10000 home supporters, often preceded or followed by a good rumble in the streets, sometimes with a pitch invasion in between. Ah yes, the good old days when supporters really cared and knew how to show it ... Roy Keanes famous prawn sandwich remark in the middle of an era when United won everything sums up modern football support - it is more middle class and it is quieter. But it's also less racist, sexist, homophobic and violent. You get a good atmosphere when people are genuinely excited, like Huddersfield this season as they're delighted to be in the league, or Leicester in their unbelievable season. Outside of that, atmospheres across most grounds are pretty much the same. Quiet, middle class and a bit dull. We're no different in the main. Only this season we are, because the football is rubbish, the commitment and effort of players is rubbish, and the entire support knows we have no hope if we don't sack the manager ... And we won't. So how do you expect supporters to get excited and create any sort of atmosphere? Rather than moan that we aren't making any noise, the club should be delighted that even one person turns up to watch this sh1t. Want a better atmospheres? Sack the manager, start trying to attack and make some effort on the pitch. That should do it.
  6. Maybe the schools in Winchester weren't good enough for his two kids.
  7. If he's not gone by Watford I really don't think we have any hope of saving our season.
  8. Um, that wasn't or promotion squad.
  9. Spot on as usual. While there was some humour in there I couldn't laugh, I'm too depressed.
  10. 90 minutes of this combined with "sack the board, sack the board, sack the board" would probably help. Banners and red cards wouldn't go amiss either. 90% of people on this site after Spurs wanted him out, I'm sure the figure would be higher now. If we can get most fans showing their discontent vocally at Fulham then hopefully les will realise it's not just the opinion of a few idiots on a forum but the overwhelming view of all supporters. I seriously think they pay some attention to forums, but generally think we're muppets thanks to the clueless ramblings of a few on here (thanks alpine etc.). Truth is most people on here are sensible, knowledgable football fans who care deeply for saints and can see we're headed for relegation as things stand. We might even be too late. I have no hard feelings against mope, don't wish him any personal harm, but he needs to be sacked because he's completely and utterly out of his depth. And I honestly think putting the spotlight on the board is the only way they'll take action. They only care about their own status, so trying to get rid of them is the only way they'll act. It really shouldn't have come to this level of pathetic behaviour, but that's their fault, not ours.
  11. Given guan 2.0's insight I'd suggest a chant of sack the board would probably be more effective.
  12. Look over my shoulders every 30 seconds to see if the triads have sent someone to "demand" their money back?
  13. So #pellegrino out, #reed out or #kreuger out. Or all three. Or would #gaoout force the issue? Quite frankly I'd be up for giving it a try as something desperately needs to change, immediately.

    Les Reed

Said it earlier in this thread, Les has a big two weeks coming up, much depending on how tonight's result went. Now we know, he simply has to sack mope or his tenure should end, it's that simple. Of course, his future would then depend on making the right appointment and his last two have been wrong, but if he dithers after this evening he simply shouldn't have a future. Hes been a significant part of our rise, but he's in real danger of being the biggest factor in our demise. Les, get some balls, admit you screwed up and sack the clown. Tonight.
  15. Anyone know if jake flannigan got released yesterday? Not se n anything official but thou this contract expired on 31st?
  16. Correct. Also, can anyone confirm if olomolas loan to y oval was only until January? Not premier league ready but might at least give a further option. Which will be needed if we sign any of Walcott, sturridge or balotelli as they'll be crooked or suspended most of the time!!
  17. Was thinking about him ref the captaincy, it's not as if we have many natural leaders around. Possibly a bit too soon but if he has a good second half of the season and is still here come next, I think he could be a good bet.
  18. Really useful work, thanks. So with two gaps (forgetting the issues it may cause next season) I'd guess we'd be looking at (net) 1 forward and 1 centre back, though the management might decide our defence is good enough as is. Wouldn't be surprised to see gabbi off with 2 forwards inbound. Of course, would happily see other improvements, but doubt we'll be inundated with offers for anyone other than possibly Bertrand. And I'd rather we kept him!
  19. A) where did I say it was a priority and b) did you read my following posts. Was more of a general chat. Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're a fool than ...
  20. Look, I needed a lot of alcohol to get through that game Of course I mean Lukaku. And I should add I thought Stephens did well, just unfairly exposed and with proper crossing and heading we'd have been behind at the break.
  21. It was a backs against the wall point. Very welcome, but these games won't determine our safety, it will be winning games against the so called lesser teams, and until he proves he can manage that I remain unconvinced. We still can't score, and if we don't solve that we'll be down, just with one more point from tonight than we would have been without.
  22. So much to glean from that. Firstly, as a saints fan I'm delighted with that point. McCarthy ... Why haven't we tried him before, much better. Stephens is still not a right back. If mkhitaryan could cross and benteke stayed on the pitch I think we'd have lost. Yoshida, didn't give a goal away through a sloppy mistake. Well done. Hoedt - joint motm for me, he's one half of a proper premier league defensive partnership. McQueen, ahead of targett IMHO Romeu, well played Hojberg - motm, now can we stop rotating him please Jwp - played wide right against Everton and had his best game in months. Played wide right next game against afcb and was so bad he was subbed at half time. Been average / awful since and then had a solid game today. Get some consistency and you might just make it, if not you won't. Bouffal class, our most creative force even though it's frustrating at times. Until we get better he has to start every week. Tadic. Infuriatingly decent display, against the big sides you deliver, against the rest you spend your time diving and waving your arms at refs and team mates. Apply yourself every match and your great, don't and rather like jwp you're done. Long. Great effort as usual, but you still can't score. Admittedly you didn't fall over on your face with today's chance (possibly half chance) but we will never score a goal with you as our striker. Gabbi, look gone mentally. No effort when you came on. If you're home sick I hope we can ship on and replace. Shame as you have real class. Lemina. Are you injured or not? Put in more effort in 2 minutes today than the whole of the first half at Spurs. Why? Redmond. Pointless. And we're a better team without you. Pellegrino. We're happy with a backs against the wall point, but how are we going to actually win games we should win? Today should give you an idea as to who you need to play when fit, and stick to that team. And we need a striker. Squad overall. So who are the bad eggs affecting team morale? Difference between today and Spurs was a chasm. Guess VvD is an obvious one, but who else? Need to get rid. Is it any of the three on the treatment table? Gabbi? Or is the poison gone. Work it out and get rid accordingly because that line up which in some ways looked weaker than the Spurs one, we showed character, determination and desire, and that will be far more important than star players with big egos underperforming in a relegation scrap. And we are definitely in a relegation scrap. Finally, not that I care, today also shows spurs are vastly superior to Manure.
  23. Decent first half but lucky with mkhytarian- over hit all but one cross (which lingard should have scored from). Hardly surprising as we have a young centre back at right back. Still, some plus points and we're still in it.
  24. Right, time to tune in and watch the carnage. Looking at Uniteds line up think they're going for it. And who can blame them. Still, will be hoping against hope for a miraculous 3 points.
  25. Dropping Forster is fine, the level of back up isn't Playing Stephens at right back has already proved to be madness Yoshida and hoed the are not a premier league standard centre back pairing I'm assuming target has a knock, otherwise that's an odd one Romeu was gash at Spurs, but at least he's not dropped Hojberg Lemina is clearly not fit so makes sense to rest him. Makes no sense to have him on the bench though He's not pairing tadic and Davis in the same team which is a bonus He is, however, pairing tadic and jwp which is not a bonus Long playing must mean the rumours of gabbi not settling and moving on true, which is a shame And with no gabbi, Austin injured and long not being able to score we are royally screwed up front. Otherwise, all is well.
