I really think we need both a CM and a striker.

He said he was going to sign someone to replace Melis. How is James a Melis replacement in any way?

I imagine it would be useful to see their best attributes such as pace and strength.

I personally think we will sign a midfielder and that would be it for this window. Would really like a striker as well though.

It really is sad that fans cannot express an opinion (including the admin of the forum) without being abused for it. Getting a bit sick of people not reading what is actually being said and putting word in people's mouths

Does he play as one? Admittedly I have not seen him much in the centre because Pardew has also played him RM. Shall be interesting to see how we line up. I'm still underwhelmed by the transfer window thus far.

They don't nursemaid the defence. That's part of the problem. MS isn't a DM and neither is Hammond. At the very least we need a more defensive minded midfielder to allow us to change our formation should the situation dictate.

I just don't think Schneiderlin and Hammond in the centre is the answer. We need a tougher Wotton type player IMO (just better obviously!) to provide the defence with more cover. I really think a striker is important. If Lambert gets injured then who do we have???

Too many games this season we have been let down by our midfield. It needs addressing. Furthermore, if Lambert gets injured then we are f*cked. We need to take steps to address that by getting in another striker to provide competition.

Really cr*p if so. Are we going for the "cheap" options?* Do people think it's a money issue? * obviously signing fonte is not being cheap but I'm talking about Seaborne Otsomobor and James instead of the likes of Ward and Stock or Danns.

Yes because we haven't strengthened in enough key areas so far. We could have bought the best defender in the world and it wouldn't provide cover for our strikers or sort out our midfield imbalance. I'm very pleased we signed fonte but I think we need a fonte like signing in midfield and up front. Stock and Barnard for me please and this will have been a great window.

If so then that is terribly disappointing and not much of a push for the playoffs that we need. We haven't replaced Melis yet which Pardew said he wanted to do and I really think we need another striker as well.

I would be confused and a bit upset if we signed all these defenders and no midfielders. To me the midfield balance is the main problem for out squad.

Don't care what anyone says, I'm getting initial concerns about the level of player we are buying when opposition fans are calling him a load tosh. I hope he's wrong and we did need a right back. Lets hope Pardew got the right man.
