Duje Caleta-Car - Official: Loan to Lyon
hypochondriac replied to hypochondriac's topic in The Saints
I have absolutely no idea what that means. So presumably he isn't going to play unless there is an injury which is just bizarre. I bet Bednarek gets on as well which is beyond mental if DCC is available. -
When I watched the pythons at the O2 it was a full house and I saw plenty of children. I accept that some of the ones later on my list would be more popular.
-
Maybe. But it will be interesting to see if any comedies from the last two decades will be regarded as absolute classics in the same vein as the ones I've mentioned. They're timeless.

I hope so. The main issue is in defence where there hasn't been any signs that he doesn't favour playing Bree, Lyanco, Bednarek or kwp out of position over players that fans would want like kwp at rb, Perraud, DCC etc. -
Bielsa would be a perfect fit for us.

My favourite UK comedies are: Brass eye The office I'm Alan partridge Knowing me knowing you Fawlty towers Monty pythons flying circus Peep show Father Ted Only fools and horses Black books The royle family I've probably missed some but the point is that even the alright stuff nowadays doesn't compare to any of that stuff and it's all from about 20 years ago plus. The quality of TV comedy has taken a real nosedive.

Peep show was predominantly earlier in the decade. I think you've sort of proved my point though as most of the best in the last 15 years is simply OK.

Apologies if I worded it clumsily. What I meant to say is that he will prioritise our players of more limited ability like Lyanco because he wants a team of scrappers with passion who play like a lower league team. -

Yes that's my worry. He wants players of limited ability who scrap for things and are passionate. It's what lower league teams are good at but it makes you look silly in the prem and is never going to work. -
I do agree with you but equally, the run of performances we had over an extended period were really unacceptable. That doesn't mean that Jones is in any way the answer but it did get a little bit ridiculous for a while.
-
Can't believe I'm saying this after the shit of the past year but I really miss Ralph...
-
I'm done. That's a complete and utter lie. The bloke is deluded. We absolutely lost because we started with a back five.
-
Who the f*ck plays a player and then 24 hours later starts them in a prem game? That's clearly bollocks.
-
I saw that Jones suggests that KWP might not start. If so then Perraud in the left I assume and Bree RB. Maybe not out of choice though but due to circumstances.
-
Very interesting. Tomorrow will supposedly be our strongest defence then.
-
Oh I do. The lower leagues are full of passionate types without much ability who compensate for it by kicking players up in the air, shouting at their teammates and thumping their chests. Those are clearly attributes that Jones values in his quest to give us aggression.
-
I think is nailed on to play now if fit. I'm not even saying he's a bad player but a blind person can see that KWP is our best RB at the club and shoving him out of position on the left just deprives us of a proper LB.
-
They're the type of players that a lower league old school type of manager would love. Its one of the many reasons that Jones isn't going to work out here unless he changes.
-
Why does he seemingly get a lot less opportunities than other players we have signed? Even under Ralph he didn't get much. He's always seemed pretty good I've thought when he's played and I think he deserves more of an extended run in the team considering how poor our backline have been this year. He's certainly a better option at the back than Lyanco and I'm assuming the fact he's playing today means that he won't be starting tomorrow.
-
I think they'd give them a good game at the very least.
-
Lyanco should be nowhere near the team but Jones is obsessed with "aggression" which is normally an attribute that lower league teams have when they are very limited and trying to compete against teams that are superior to them. It rarely ends well.
-
My prediction for tomorrow is Bree bednarek Salisu kwp If we play 4 at the back or you can add Lyanco to that if we go 5. Either way it's ridiculous when you have DCC and Perraud fit and ready to go. The team should clearly be: KWP DCC Salisu Perraud

What recent comedy has the UK done that is good? Genuine question because the last time I watched something and considered it brilliant was about 15 years ago. Edit: I was curious and found this article which is the best UK comedy of the past 15 years. The vast majority of it I've never heard of. Inbetweeners was alright but got a bit stale. Alan Partridge's older stuff is much better, my dad liked this country and I thought Fleabag wasn't a comedy but other than that it's not exactly up there with classics of the past like The Office, I'm Alan Partridge, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses etc. British tv comedy has largely sucked for ages now. https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/best-british-tv-comedies-of-the-last-15-years/

That may have some truth to it but it was his job to come in, prove the fans wrong and then bring everyone together and unite us with a common cause. I don't think anyone could seriously say he's made any attempts to do that. The fact he isn't even showing up at the fans forum speaks volumes IMO. Either he's been told to stay away in which case the club are in the wrong or it's worse and he's decided not to himself.

Pretty poor that the manager isn't attending. Is it because he's thin skinned? May have been a good opportunity to get some fans on board.
