Regardless of what Martin does, I actually like the bloke whereas with Jones I disliked him so intensely that I was very close to actively wanting us to lose so he could leave quicker. It makes a huge difference to the fanbase to have a manager like Adkins and Martin who everyone seems to like and makes supporting the team a hell of a lot easier. Supporting saints has been really hard for the last few years, it feels like they can give us something to be proud of again.

That stat is one of those things that we look back on at the end of the season and say we knew from the start it was going to be a good year.

Hold on could you expand on what you're saying here? Are you saying that a goalkeeper who is equally adept at other skills such as distribution, organising defence etc but worse at shot stopping will concede the same amount as another keeper who is better at it?

So is that the same the other way round too? Could someone rubbish replace Ederson and have conceded a similar amount?

So your contention is that we woukd have conceded roughly the same amount whoever was in goal and that the quality of goalkeeper makes no difference?

If we start tonight with a midfield of Lavia jwp Tella Alcaraz Is that the best midfield that's ever played in the championship? I'd like to see it just for that reason alone.

Agreed. Jwp clearly wants to go. I'm just pleased we get to see him at least one more time for saints. Would be great if he scored.

Agreed the players we really would like to keep are JWP, Tella, Sulemana, KWP, Lavia, Alcaraz So that's six players. I think we will do well to keep two of them so we would need four quality replacements imo.

Onuachu, kwp, ABK, Adams, Tella, Lavia, JWP, Perraud, Lyanco Not sure we can get to 10 without losing Alcaraz at well which really would be all of our half decent players from last year.

I know it was a few years ago but we sold mane for 25. Tino has made us a huge profit that the vast majority of championship clubs would kill for and he's just had a serious injury and didn't look amazing in pre season. Personally I think it's a great deal if he had to go.

That's a little disrespectful. I'd love him to be great this year I just haven't seen much yet that gives me the impression he will be.

I think he will end up being a decent keeper. My problem is he isn't one at the moment and is too young to be first choice for a promotion chasing team. Hopefully I'm wrong but I haven't seen anything to give me any more confidence yet.

I'm not sure why you get that impression at all. The main difference between us and other championship clubs is that we have largely held fir on sales to get what we deserve in terms of value.
