Do you think if I were to start selling coca cola that coca cola would think it's clear that I wasn't them if I made a statement distancing myself from them?
-
I wasn't referring to myself as I obviously haven't donated to any black lives matter organisation. Learn to read.

Do you think that among the thousands of people that have thrown over a million at the BLM fundraiser, there will be people who have supported them because they believe the organisation is the same as the ones supported by the Premier league and other sporting organisations? I'd say that was a pretty irresponsible thing for a multi million pound business to get themselves entangled in, hence the speedy clarification statement.

No problem I will do. I was accused by some of talking bollocks and that I was lying when I said I was friends with someone at the club so nice to shove it down the throats of certain people.

I think this chap knew what he was talking about.

A sash you say? Who could have predicted that!

Getting to the Stadium when home games are back on.

I turned onto the avenue for the first time yesterday since they put this stuff up and was stuck in a long line of traffic when it wasn't even that busy. It would be insanity to make that permanent, all it's going to do is cause massively long queues of traffic. -
It doesn't seem right in this day and age. I do wonder why they haven't passed reasonable legislation to prevent it before now.

Agree with all of that. Good post.

it's one solitary fact about where the OK symbol originated from. For someone who professes to hate Tommy Robinson, you know an awful lot about him. Certainly more than me. The colour comment was only brought up because someone else brought up that the protestors were all black which was incorrect. It seems that some posters on here know what the motives are considering the likes of aintforever have assured us that all protestors were their for racial equality and to protest George Floyd and nothing else. I simply pointed to the racist graffiti and violent signs from various protests along with the stated aims of the black lives matter organisation to question that narrative.
-
To be fair, I think there's room for a bit of both when there's obvious and overt injustice. It does seem though that some just want to abdicate any sort of responsibility for their own lives because it's easier to blame racism or the systemic heteronormative capitalist patriarchal system.
-
I think we certainly can agree on that. That's why this ambiguity around Black Lives Matter the organisation and Black Lives Matter the protest movement is a bigger problem than it should be. It's clear that Black Lives Matter the organisation is getting a hell of a lot more support than it should do precisely because dim people who don't look at things beyond a surface level see a slogan and nod along, giving financial and moral support without looking any further.

I'd like to see a Venn diagram of the attendees at extinction rebellion, antifa marches and black lives matter protests. I bet there'd be quite some cross over. Happy to have this as post number 30k.

Edit.

It's not digging at all. Was the notion of the OK symbol being a white power symbol created by 4chan in order to prove that anything could be appropriated to be racist? Yes or no? Also I'm not a big fan of the ADL at all. People like you are the ones who take what it says as gospel not me. However if even they are calling into question the idea of a frog as racist then the chances are it isn't at all...
-
Not at all. There's loads at these marches and invariably the most vociferous voices on social media are white. Most of the loud voices protesting so loudly about not being racist on here have said they are white so why should it be different elsewhere? The book white fragility has been bought in the millions and if you look for that online it's predominantly a white customer base. I expect for a lot of black people involved it's actually about real racism whereas a lot of these white people it's something else entirely.

What does ending the nuclear family, cisgender hetero-normative patriarchy, ageism, a statue of Robert the Bruce, ending capitalism, Palestine or trans rights have to do with racial equality ?
-
Stating a fact is now "defending." Hilarious. People climbing a hill, holding a white lives matter banner and making an OK sign with their hands are wasting their time and doing it deliberately to provoke a reaction. The idea that the OK symbol is racist is mental. The association was deliberately created so that people like you would screech about it and to prove that 4chan could turn anything into a racist symbol and you've fallen for it. Criticise them all you want for being stupid enough for doing it. I expect they realised exactly what reaction they would get and probably did it in order to draw attention to their organisation. Rather like when 4chan created the idea of the racist OK sign in the first place, they were counting on a ridiculous overreaction from something innocuous which completely proves their point. I'm sure the person involved will be delighted that he's hooked someone in with OK symbol and got him all hot under the collar about it. Rather than getting all upset about a pretend "racist" hand gesture, why not simply laugh at a piss poor attempt by a troll to try to get a rise out of the usual sort of reactionaries who fall for this stuff. If you consider that a defence then fair enough!
-
So do you want to revise your post about what the protests "were" about? It seems there were a significant number who had differing ideas about what they were about albeit the catalyst for the protests was the same event.
-
You realise that the OK symbol being racist was created as a joke on 4chan designed to troll people? Rather like how they spread a rumour that drinking milk was also racist and there was plenty of mad articles about that as well.
-
You might describe his agenda as that. Shocking as it may be, others would view things very differently.
-
Were these the same rallies that had signs at them punching white people? Or that had "fuck white people?" Or that called Robert the Bruce a racist? Or that injured a number of police officers? Did all those attending just want equality?
-
1) it's really odd that you're continually referring to anyone with different views to you as old and white. You don't know the ethnicity or the age of anyone on here. I assume you're trying to use them in some sort of derogatory manner in order to be offensive. 2) would you mind telling me if these pictures are from the black lives matter protests or the black lives matter organisation rally?

Most people I've seen who support the BLM organisation are white.
