That's an odd thing to say considering my very first post on the subject said that anyone being racist or attacking Chinese people should be severely punished. Not using the term and not making it clear that Chinese failures have contributed massively to the loss of life isn't going to stop racist idiots from being racist idiots though. In reality and unfortunately these attacks would have happened regardless. I think when the Chinese propagandists are doing everything to shift the blame and the scrutiny from them that providing a reminder every so often that they are responsible is a good thing.
-
"I" haven't reffered to it as that but I have no problem with someone who wants to. Its important to remember where this has come from and who has to take a large amount of responsibility. Lots of people want to pretend it isn't China who is largely responsible or even worse want to call it racism. Calling it the Chinese virus is a good way to combat that. China lied and people died.
-
And he's wrong to do so but he's correct when he refers to it as the Chinese virus.
-
Calling it a Chinese virus is no different than all those other viruses and pandemics that have been named after locations. People being racist to Chinese people are dangerous idiots who should be punished accordingly but that has nothing to do with being factual about the virus.

I'm not saying it will but to give the election to Biden at this stage as a certainty is naive.
-
Warren? She was a joke candidate. Tulsi gabbard seemed to be the best of the lot imo but the far left hated her for some reason.
-
Agree with all of that. Hopefully the government have realised the importance of being ready for the next phase that will inevitably come after a loosening of restrictions.
-
Doubt it. Probably his sister will take charge.

I read an article yesterday that said that we fear a second wave in December which would be much worse and that the lockdown has actually been too successful- it's stopped the virus affecting the vulnerable without infecting enough healthy people that the vast majority are still susceptible. Not sure that a harder or longer lockdown wouldn't have made things worse for any second wave. That will all change if they find some effective drugs or vaccine before then of course.

Wasn't hillary given something like a 90% chance of victory last time? Loads of things could happen between now and November which derail Biden. This latest assault allegation for one.

It wasnt about the speaking of Spanish, it was the disingenuous manner in which it was done which was widely derided at the time so no reason to go into the details. Anyway that was just one example but it highlighted the lengths that some candidates were going to in order to win. It seems that for some, virtue signalling and paying lip service to ridiculous concepts like unconscious bias and reparations were more important than trying to appeal to middle America. If Biden wants to win, let's hope he has recognised the folly of that tactic.

I haven't seen something that says the signs are that there is no long term automatic immunity. They haven't seen evidence of long term immunity so far which isn't the same thing.

It's a different question from the one you originally asked. If we could guarantee that Biden was healthy, that he didn't have any cognitive impairments and that he wouldn't be incapacitated shortly after being elected then he'd probably be the better choice. It should also be hoped that he doesn't make any moves to try to appease the rabid intersectional bigots like AOC, ilhan omar et al. Seems they are voting for him regardless anyway so that's a good start.
-
It's not that simple and even if it were, it's a different question from the one you asked earlier.
-
You must have not seen that absolutely embarrassing display during the debates? If you had you wouldn't be making fun of it.
-
It depends what you mean by that. If Biden actually does have some form of dementia as some have suggested or is unwell to the point that he can't actually do the job then I think that's pretty awful. Something like that would be comparable to the much publicised failings of trump. Why the Democrats couldn't just get in some bog standard safeish candidate like Corey booker I'll never know.
-
He does have to appease a load of them in order to win though. Its why the nominees were tying themselves in knots doing things like speaking in Spanish during the campaign.
-
The point is its a rubbish choice which it absolutely is. Million of people in America and those are the best two candidates they can muster. It's pathetic.
-
I'm glad he's someobe else's problem for as long as it lasts.
-
Blimey. A sensible post from you that I agree with.

There is too much demand for whatever the capacity was for their online portal since they increased the criteria yesterday. It's a changing situation though isn't it.
-
In fact at this point why not just open the online portal up to anyone who has symptoms but hasn't had a test with priority for key workers and NHS? Seems like the logical thing to do if there really isn't the demand there.
-
Completely agree. Test everyone in the care sector and NHS on a regular basis and that's easily 100k a day. Then once the antibody test is available (if it ever is), certain people can get back to things with a level of certainty.
