Absolutely no one has pretended that only one person holds a racist point of view, no one has said that. The point is that meghan was not really treated in any worse a fashion than other royals. The press can be dicks but its bizarre to suggest its anything to do with being mixed race. She would have received the same sh*tty treatment had she been exactly the same but happened to have a white mother.

They made a big deal out of it in a positive way- talking about modernisation of the monarchy and the racial elements she incorporated into the wedding. I saw very little negative press up until the point they started getting political and preachy, hostile to the media and leaving themselves open to accusations of hypocrisy, none of which has anything to do with her race. Yes some headlines have been sensationalist and silly but nothing worse than any other royals have suffered over the years.

It was private until the press shared it. I can totally see why it would be of interest but it doesn't prove any racial element to the reporting of meghan, it's not like the papers were supporting her comments.

I've really lost what the point of this conversation is. I thought we were discussing if there has been a racial element to coverage of meghan. Private racist comments by the partner of someone in ukip subsequently reported by the press isn't an example of that.

Tbf this drastic change in form is fairly unprecedented. A record defeat and then an absolutely stunning vein of form.

Some random non entity getting their racist text publicised by the press is hardly evidence of a deeply racist society.

That isn't what I said was it. It's a fact that the average 60 year old woman has less sexual appeal in society than the average 18 year old. It's an evolutionary thing really, if the objective is to procreate then it's quite natural for animals to be attracted to those most likely to be fertile.

That's because most older women aren't viewed as particularly attractive by society. On average men tend to age better. It's a numbers game and generally you aren't going to get a load of men flocking to see Charlie's angels with a woman in her 60s in a bikini, but plenty of women are still going to find some of the older Hollywood heart throbs wildly sexy.

Yeah was pretty good but the next one he did was rubbish I thought. Happy for black directors or minority actors to get nomonations and wins just as long as their skin colour or minority status isn't a factor. Sadly that is increasingly not the case.

I think it's more annoying when certain posters pretend this sort of thing isn't happening. It's incredibly predictable of course and it will probably happen again next January but just because we know it's probably going to happen doesn't mean you can't still be irritated by it.

I see these top labour candidates are being pressured into agreeing to pledges about abortion. The 5th "pledge" is the particularly interesting one about making misogyny a hate crime. Ah yes because that wouldn't be roundly abused by the usual suspects. Terrifying but thankfully these buffoons won't be grabbing power any time soon.

Don't worry, you can trot out the same lines next year when we get another article or two from the same journalists saying similar things when the club needs some pr.

What prompted a journalist that has released a lot of saints stories to release their positive story about January transfer dealings and other acquisitions immediately after our 9-0 loss? Coincidence?

Having also read this forum for years, I disagree. The majority are talking about a pattern that has been repeated for a number of windows - particularly January- where we release stories to the same select journalists about signing and then during the window itself we dampen expectations and make public the fact that we are happy with what we have. You then get the usual apologists amongst the fan base happy to white Knight for the club and its repeated the next season safe in the knowledge that the "eggs" of the world are too dumb to notice. For some reason you consider this version of events to be untrue and that the stories are invented by the same journalists every time and they just so happen to release their stories when the club need some positive pr. Weird that the last one came out after the Leicester 9-0, I wonder why that is?

I mean why would the club plant stories in the media and then end up not signing anyone? We were told by posters on here that that was a pointless thing to do, that it doesn't work, that posters don't jump to the defence of the club.

It seems you have to have an acceptable percentage of women and minorities shortlisted every year or the woek crpd on, twitter shout at you. I don't pay much attention anyway and normally the best film nominations are a load of pretentious cr*p (the sea creature love story from a few years back and birdman for example) but green book was good last year. I'd generally just give it to a woman director or and black actors every year to stop the whining.

You can't prove it was the club who planted that article, you can't prove it was the marketing department that released a PR piece. No proof so it's definitely nothing to do with the club. Definitely.

I don't think we will descend into warring accross Europe simply because political union is no longer a thing. I mean it used to just be a common market and there wasn't war then.
