  1. Yeah interesting isn't it. When Ched was found guilty there wasn't any room for thinking he may have a good chance at an appeal. You weren't allowed to think there were any flaws in this case because that made you a "rape apologist." Now he's found not guilty, suddenly the system is corrupt and its all just because he bought some new witnesses to make up evidence. Really makes you think.
  2. Hold on are you suggesting that new evidence was falsified? That's a very serious accusation that I assume you have a lot of proof for? Questioning the original verdict based on the facts of the case does not equal "supporting" Ched Evan's actions. It is possible to be critical of the man's actions whilst being glad that justice seems to have been served and that he has been found innocent of a crime that there was not enough evidence to say beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed.
  3. I'd rather have sturrock or the Dutch clowns than pellegrino in charge- some of those performances during that period I've never seen us play with what appeared to be zero gameplan. I'd be happy to say that pellegrino was the worst manager we have had in my lifetime and I've been alive quite a while now! Hughes was quite frankly rubbish this year but he did keep us up last season so he probably earnt his money imo.
  4. In soggy's mind he's bought justice because he's a high profile white straight male who acted very poorly with a woman. Despite the fact he's been found not guilty of the crime, he's still somehow guilty in soggy's mind because of who he is. We might as well apply that logic to every criminal case and just not bother with court cases and the concept of guilt and innocence. Let's just let soggy decide who is guilty even if they are found not guilty in court.
  5. Really pleased for him. Some of the dinlos writing him off on here based on a loan spell at a basket case of a club (reading) need to have a look at themselves.
  6. That red bull bloke we've been linked with for sure
  7. They really didn't.
  8. Well said.
  9. And in the scenario you just outlined we would only need 4 points...
  10. We should but when people rightly thought Ched would have a good chance with an appeal, soggy was screaming at them calling anyone who thought that a rape apologist.
  11. Not sacking pellegrino before the January transfer window almost got us relegated and is pretty unforgivable imo.
  12. It contrasts with the manager who is very straight talking and actually answers questions. I hope whoever we get in now will actually be worth listening to.
  13. Well I'm just pleased we won't have to endure any more of those interviews.
  14. Thank goodness they were able get the courts to consider new evidence that meant that he was found not guilty of the crime. I'm sure the courts are also satisfied considering they are all about the pursuit of justice and this shows that his original conviction was clearly unjust. I assume you will also have peace of mind to know that the courts are willing to overturn convictions if additional evidence comes to light that casts doubt on the original conviction. Thank goodness we have a court system that operates this way regardless of race, gender etc.
  15. I'd say you would be pretty justified to moan about the owner and many of the players over the last few years.
  16. Anyone who doesn't think there is something supremely dodgy with our ownership and the lack of communication is deluded. We will see the issues if we ever do get relegated but people don't care as long as the gravy train keeps on rolling
  17. Indeed he can! Looks like even more egg on your face over this matter. New stuff just keeps popping up every few months to make you look even more foolish. Oh dear oh dear oh dear... Maybe you'll reconsider rushing to condemnation and calling those with legitimate concerns "rape apologists" the next time something like this happens simply because the accused person is a white man? Or knowing you probably not.
  18. Good bloke except for wheb he was hitting on my sister! I'm still a fan though
  19. Thanks for the context, I did imagine there was more to the story than the headline.
  20. Not an individual club but when I think it was Chris Powell was sacked a few years ago, the association of black lawyers bloke was all over it saying how racist football was because they had less black managers.
  21. Lighthouse- this website needs to do more to tackle pompous priggish posters like verbal above. Many good posters like Turkish have already reduced the amount they post and I've been told it's a direct result of posters like verbal and the hostile posting environment they have fostered. All that posters want is to be able to discuss issues with a range of opinions without being called a nazi or a racist for doing so. Additionally verbal promised his partner that he would stop posting on here but he continues to hang around. It may be worth thinking of her next time you're doing your moderating.
  22. It is less of an issue in this day and age. The Oscars is entirely irrelevant to a discussion about racist abuse in English football and the mythical wage gap has been debunked so many times now that you're just making yourself look foolish (again). Here is one such debunking from a female: http://time.com/3222543/wage-pay-gap-myth-feminism/ Regarding your racism in football point, I absolutely do not think that clubs should be held personally responsible for isolated racist idiots within a crowd. All clubs in the UK as far as I am aware will most likely hand out life bans for anyone they discover chanting racist abuse at players which is an adequate response. If we had thousands of fans chanting racist abuse on a regular basis then we can talk about points deductions but as has already been pointed out to you, it's mostly the odd couple of people who decide to shout racist things at a player. To pretend otherwise is to create a false narrative which I know you like to do for some bizarre reason but as usual it's incorrect.
  23. In what sense was he comparing them? If he meant that some fans will look for something that they perceive to be a sensitive issue of a "weakness" and then chant about it then he's right. Obviously they aren't the same thing though.
  24. Edit: I didn't see what thread this was before I replied sensibly...
  25. Bit odd to pretend we have changed very little since the 80s. Racism is an issue in society in the same way loads of unacceptable abuse is and sadly you aren't ever going to eliminate it completely, but it's massively improved since the 80s. And what on earth do the Oscars have to do with that? Just a bizarre stream of consciousness there.
