Bizarre then that other people who were there felt we were poor and that the subs were bizarre. It's almost like people can have different opinions. Fancy that!
-
Very difficult to understand what he was trying to say but I think he was saying that he wants us to be more confident with a few 1-0 wins abd then progress onto scoring more in future games. Judt bizarre.
-
Thanks for your opinion. Good to hear a perspective from someone who was there.
-
Thabks for your opinion but clearly there are saints fans who did attend the match and who have a different opinion to you. Absolutely no need to be so aggressive just because people disagree. For some people a 1-0 home win against a team on a similarly poor run of form provides plenty of reasons to look forward with optimism and for others they can see problems with the performance and can see a continuation of similar issues we have suffered with throughout the season. I'm glad we won but I don't think we have seen a big change with this performance that means I am any more confident about Wednesday as much as I hope we get a win there.
-
Interesting you should say that because I think our most enjoyable teams since our return to the prem have been the ones where you know on our day we had the game to beat anyone. There really was no fear factor at all and we frequently bossed games against the biggest teams. Nowadays not only do we defend and hope for scraps from the big teams, we also give the smaller teams way too much respect and fail to impose ourselves.
-
Pellegrino basically saying it's his tactics that mean we invite pressure onto us. He seemingly has a blind spot about it.
-
Hardly surprising considering our form and lack of excitement or performances this season.
-
Did blackmore ask him about the baffling subs and style in the second half do you know?
-
That performance has made me nervous now. We need to size the game by the scruff of the neck and go St then for the entire game. Will we get that? It seems unlikely.
-
And possibly go through the entire season without a really convincing 90 minutes in any game. Even our Everton win didn't have that and owed more to how terrible they were than anything else.
-
A positive result doesn't automatically mean that the tactics worked. Imo we won despite those tactics and could very easily have drawn or lost once we surrendered the initiative as we have so often this season. A positive result in no way masks those fundamental failings.
-
What this sort of result does make a mockery of is those posters who are intent on saying the players are primarily to blame for our situation. These players set up properly and coached correctly should be nowhere near the relegation zone. This negative approach is the reason we have been so poor this season and I see no reason why it won't continue for the foreseeable future.

Absolutely take the win but appaling negative tactics inviting pressure onto us once again. What on earth is the manager playing at? You can guarantee we will do this again this season and will lose yet more points because of it. It has to stop and if we are resolved to sticking with the manager then someone needs to have a word with him to prevent it from happening. It's absolutely maddening!

Watch saints spin this result as something marvelous. Of course we all want a win but the problems remain.
-
If we win this now it doesn't change our fundamental problem with this manager and his tactics. This mentality has cost us so many times this season. Why does he do it? Why can't we just continue to attack for a change? Even if we end up losing St least we will have attempted something different. I'm absolutely sick of these tactics.
-
Why have we decided to protect a 1-0 at home to Watford? Crazy no matter what the result.
-
Weird you would come on here just to slag off the messageboard considering you find it so unfulfilling.
-
I think it would be pretty difficult to be an optimist right now. How do we judge what is being pessimistic and what is being realistic about our lowly state right now?
-
Statistically it's got to be pretty close.
-
Well if true then that's really unsurprising. Let's get plan B through ASAP. We need pace...

Isn't that snap chat?

The comments from their chief executive there is exactly the type of thing that we have heard Ralph saying. Sums up everything wrong with modern football.
-
No one should be writing him off but anyone is perfectly entitled to give initial reactions. My thoughts are he doesn't look particularly impressive on first viewing but he may have some attributes we need. Happy to see how he does with us but I won't be getting overly excited about this signing.

Have we done that thing again where we try to sign players above our station and get turned down after lengthy negotiations? Fair enough if we do manage to get someone decent over the line but this has shades of last January at the moment. I really really hope we have some backup options and we don't leave it too late...
