Post-Match Reaction: Everton 1-1 SAINTS
hypochondriac replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It's sad that we most likely won't have Europe to look forward to next year (haven't really forgiven Wanyama for fecking it up for us this year.) but we can't really complain too much. A few years ago I'd have given my right arm to finish this high up the table. We are so well run and will probably end up mid table again next year which is a decent achievement. Hopefully we get a cup final or two to look forward to eventually. -

And just as I write this I see five more have been arrested I Birmingham. How long until we can have a serious discussion about this problem? Too many with their fingers in their ears calling other people racist and desperate not to recognise the issue. We need to be more robust in promoting our fundamental values and removing practices that run counter to those. -

Can I also add how pleasing it was to see the Muslim sellers at the end who mix with all faiths and ethnicities. I know there are many like that and I think the programme had some good ideas about how to foster that sort of attitude in the future. It did make clear though that these regressive attitudes still persist within the British Muslim community (unlike soggy, if you know any Muslims then you can talk to them and they will confirm this) and that there is not much desire to mix with non muslims. This is what needs to change and I think the idea of a quota system for schools is an idea worth exploring. -

I've seen the programme now and it was very interesting. Regardless of the rest of it, I know for a fact that views about Jews in the media and homosexuals are quite prevalent among Muslims and yes soggy that's because I actually know Muslims. I think the fundamentalist rulings in sharia courts in Britain are disgusting (as discussed by I think a Lebanese woman on the programme.) she spells out clearly that women are not treated equally at those courts, it's a disgrace to be honest. Thank goodness it isn't all Muslims but it needs to be tackled nonetheless. -

Of course you can have a view, but it will be much less informed than someone who actually knows people who are Muslims. The fact you are trying to get a rise out of me by pretending I have autism or aspergers says an awful lot about you (though if I did have either of those things it wouldn't be anything to be upset about). You're not as superior and liberal with an impeccable moral conscience as you like to think and throwing around disorders like that is pathetic. Unlike you I work with people who have these disorders and I see the struggle that their carers go through every day. -

Really? I thought you said you had no idea if you had met Muslims because you don't ask people what their religion is? -

Thanks for the summary CB. Sounds like quite a balanced programme then with some interesting points made. I'll try to watch it this evening. -

One suspects you would have had issues with any programme that painted muslims in a poor light. -

See this is when you look really silly. You realise that not everyone whose children attend a religious school are actually religious right? I should know as I attended one. You also used her saying she was Jesus christ as evidence of her Christianity, hilariously failing to realise that that would be the absolute opposite of what a Christian would do. I organise and attend about 8 nativities a year which are attended by about 100 relatives each. Astoundingly, the vast majority are not Christian. Who knew that attending a nativity is not proof that you are a Christian but rather that you want to see little Freddie dressed as a donkey. Amazing. Regarding Katie Hopkins herself I am not in the least hit interested in what she has to say. As I have told you before I haven't really given her a second thought until you tried to bring her up as a tactic to avoid discussing Islamic extremism. I expect most of what she says is in service of her brand which has made her pretty successful but I would prefer not to discuss her views too much because she gets enough column inches as it is. I'll tell you again, it's not taking the p*ss out of moderates, it's calling an idiot out when he makes idiotic comments, there is a big difference. I wouldn't lower myself to speculating about if you have autism (you continue to peddle this falsehood to try and insult me which I consider extremely strange) but you certainly display a lack of self awareness and a desperation to defend some patently ridiculous and daft opinions you expressed a few months ago, all in an effort to avoid talking about Islamic extremism. You're an apologist and it will continue to be highlighted for as long as you continue to post rubbish in this thread. -

As you like stats so much- as a percentage, how many of our posts do you think have been after one another? I'd guess a very small number. If you want to pretend that the few times we happen to post together and agree we are actually carrying out a pre-prepared plan then go ahead. It will make you look silly again but if you want to believe it then you can. -

I'd prefer to send him into Syria with a remit to negotiate with IS just using his words. He'd be killed before you can say Christian atrocity. -

Probably better that way. I had no interest in her at all until soggy brought her up in another futile attempt to avoid discussing Islamic extremism. -

It was when soggy maintained that Hopkins was likely to be a Christian because she went to a nativity her child was in and proclaimed herself the modern day Jesus christ. He was roundly derided at the time and continues to be every so often when he tries to defend those claims. -

I think if you can be bothered to check the post history, it was soggy who brought all of that up. Always worth mentioning it every now and again for the comedy value. -

Because that's exactly what you've done. Every time it's mentioned you start on a diatribe about evil Christians, nazis and other extremists. You seem incapable of discussing Islamic extremism and it's problems without first mentioning that there are problems with other faiths or in other areas of society. Every time. Despite not a single poster disagreeing with it. Are you naive enough to believe that a terrorist attack in Paris from Islamic state would not naturally evolve into a wider conversation about Islam? It's a message board and just because you started the thread doesn't mean you own all the content in it. The debate widened because it was always going to, not because everyone who disagrees with you is somehow racist or desperate to bash muslims as you like to believe. Again, you seem to have a real problem with discussing Islamic extremism. What possible relevance do abhorrent rapists who may be white have to do with this? That is why people accuse you of being an apologist. All the rest of the guff about muslims being responsible for all evil in the world is complete and utter rubbish invented in your own head. Again. I'm not sure what barbed comments you are referring to but I'm quite capable of calling out someone like Sour Mash when he says something Ill advised or that I disagree with and also call you out when you are being a buffoon. It's not like I have a finite number of barbed comments, you'll continue to receive my ire all the time you display your idiocy on this thread. -

There are indeed many problems in the world and there are many threads on here to discuss them. This thread however began talking about the Paris attacks and then moved on to discuss the motivations behind the attack as well as the problem of Islamic extremism. Whenever it is brought up though you go off on one about how there are loads of problem everywhere, how there are Christian extremists nazis etc etc etc. Why is it so difficult to admit the problems here and discuss it without continually referring to other extremist groups and religions that no one has denied exists? -

You've been very dismissive considering you haven't even seen the survey - questioning the motives of Phillips and suggesting he has hidden agendas. Maybe best to actually read the survey and what it has to say before deciding all of this. One imagines you wouldn't be urging the same degree of caution had this survey agreed with your own opinions. The amount in the survey is broadly consistent with other surveys by the way. It's simply impractical to interview every Muslim as I'm sure you would agree. -
Can Southampton become a force in the premier league?
hypochondriac replied to Soulful Odin's topic in The Saints
Based on our history, I would say it's fairly likely that we will be losing Mane and almost certain that Wanyama is going. 99% of things posted on here are opinion, it's called a forum... -
