  1. Why does it matter where they are protesting? The fact that they exist and are clearly protesting openly is enough to fulfill the stated definition.
  2. The links and pictures from buctootim show Muslims being openly hostile and opposing terrorists. It may not be how you wish they would deal with it but it's clear that that is what they are doing. I assume when PETA have a rally outside of an animal testing facility that you would define that as opposing what is happening? Same thing is happening here.
  3. The definition as defined by the second one you posted is exactly what has been posted above. Antagonistic is something that is openly hostile or opposes something. There are Muslims there who are being openly hostile and opposing terrorists. It's an antagonistic reaction.
  4. Your second definition is exactly that. We weren't talking about the size of the backlash were we just that there has clearly been one.
  5. Antagonistic is something that is openly hostile or opposes something. Are you saying there have been no Muslims that have opposed or been openly hostile to terrorism?
  6. It may be a small reaction compared to the total number within the Muslim community and I agree there is definitely an argument that more could be done but there has undeniably been some form of backlash- even if it's not a particularly big one.
  7. Just looked up the definition of backlash and came up with this : "An antagonistic reaction to a trend, development, or event:" Seems pretty clear to me that description is exactly what has happened in the case of some of these marches and protests.
  8. I absolutely hate defending someone like soggy but that seems like a silly comment considering there have clearly been events and protests against the actions of the terrorists. You could argue that more could have been done but not that there has been no reaction at all.
  9. The answer is that nobody knows either way to much of it. Negotiations at some point in the future if we voted for brexit would be difficult to predict. It then comes down to opinions and my view is that we will have a strong hand in any negotiations. For me it's the fundamental issue regarding loss of sovereignty which swings it - it's outrageous that unelected officials can overrule or impose laws on us. We have previously been an example to others about how to run a democracy and the system we have now is too difficult to stomach. It's also totally illogical that we cannot predict with any accuracy how many people will be coming into the country every year. It makes it impossible to plan things like the NHS without that basic info. I know you will most likely dismiss these things but an awful lot of people feel the same way.
  10. Look at you rewriting history. I assure you that you were the one making a big deal out of the Hopkins thing. I certainly wouldn't have brought her or her faith up as I have zero interest in anything she has to say. The idea that you considered her a Christian for among other reasons because she claimed she was Jesus is utterly absurd though and worth highlighting repeatedly to underline your lack of understanding regarding religion. The rest of your post- astoundingly- I agree with.
  11. Think their money is nice and safe there!
  12. I personally don't think staying in the EU because it's difficult to leave and may take five years should be a factor when making the decision. We should be considering how things will be in the long term not in the very immediate future. I get why people want to stay but not the argument that it's hard to leave the club so we shouldn't bother.
  13. Ah sweet. I'm perfectly capable of replying myself thanks.
  14. I'm not sure that's entirely true. I suppose it depends what your definition of moderate is. There is a regressive element within Muslim communities for definite but I wouldn't know how widespread that actually is. I don't think it's fair to say there has be no demonstrations from sections of Muslim society against terrorism because there certainly has been.
  15. It appears that when we get rid of the complete loons, some sanity and seeds of agreement begin to form.
  16. Fair enough that's a fair way of looking at things. I don't think that's the case for every Western fighter but I'm sure that with some IS fighters there is an element of that.
  17. And went to a nativity with their kid.
  18. To be fair it's an accurate use of the word.
  19. To be fair I think there would have been question marks over some of his foreign policy decisions regardless of 9/11. I accept that's speculation but he certainly had the attitude seen in Team America.
  20. Asked and answered from two pints above.
  21. What a stupid and ignorant tweet. Doesn't make your statements about her being a Christian any less idiotic. If anything it reinforces the stupidity of that comment.
  22. That's a no then you have no idea about Christianity. Just to sum up for you, belief in God and Jesus is not a guarantee that someone is a Christian. Believing in God and then committing acts that are the polar opposite to what most consider to be the teachings of Jesus does not make you a Christian. Hitler may have expressed a belief in God and mentioned God on his belt buckle but that doesn't make him a Christian. Katie Hopkins may have called herself Jesus and wanted to watch her child's nativity but it doesn't make her a Christian. Pretty simple really and not that difficult to understand. Tough for you though!
  23. They both matter in the context of the thread. The former matters because it discredits your later posts by highlighting how little you know about religion. Of course the latter matters but our definitions of Islamaphobia and racism are clearly wildly different.
  24. Many would argue that there are some distinct similarities which is what I assumed the person I was replying to was alluding to (I know subtlety is not your strong point.) Arguably both used an aggressive political ideology which resulted in the deaths of innocent people. Clearly not on the same scale though which is why I said they weren't the same. Not sure why I had to hand hold you through that though.
  25. I don't think you understand Christianity at all. Belief in God and also Jesus in isolation does not make you a Christian. Are you aware that Jesus pops up in other religions too including Islam? Are the Muslims who believe in him Christian too?
