It's ridiculous to say that no Muslims have had any positive impact on Britain. It's equally ridiculous to label clearly prejudiced remarks against muslims as racist. Sour Mash had made clear Islamaphobic remarks and many comments that I consider to be ill advised and demonstrates a lack of understanding regarding Muslims. Just call it what it is rather than trying to twist the definition of race or putting up articles claiming there is no such thing as race to try to brand someone a racist, it does the opposing argument no favours.

There will soon be a crisis with small businesses in this country. The government are hellbent on shrinking welfare and transferring the responsibility onto small businesses who they then demonise by accusing them of avarice. Schools and particularly nursery school have been hit terribly. Some schools have seen hundreds of thousands wiped from their funding due to the latest budget and have no option but to sack staff. Nurseries have been treated disgracefully but the government have succeeded in framing it as "free childcare" with Sam Giymah criticising the sector for failing to work with him (ha!) when they've seen a drop in their funding in the majority of cases whilst being asked to provide higher wages across the board, new pension contributions, unchanged business rates and they are no longer able to subsidise all of this because their ability to charge what they like has been effectively removed by the government forcing 30 hours through (double what was previously offered.) Labour's proposals are even worse, with even higher wage increases to be pulled out of thin air. The choice is very simple to my mind- remove the 30 "free" hours PR and allow nurseries the ability to charge enough so that they can afford to pay their staff and everything else or fund the system properly. That's just scaremongering, traditional taxis firms will still be around in some form. The few times I've used uber it's been a pleasant experience and miles cheaper than other London taxis.

I'm combating the lie that there has been no backlash against extremists. There is certainly an argument that more could be done but CLEARLY there are Muslims out there condemning this sort of thing.

Hold on, I was responding to the question "where are the fatwas?" I wasn't debating their effectiveness, simply answering the question. Presumably whelk believes they mean something or he wouldn't have asked the question.

And now I see you have clarified your comments. I withdraw my previous post, I can see what you mean now and I mostly agree though I do believe there are regressive bits of Islam that I would also like to see dealt with (though that isn't terrorism related.)

Tbf when you say it's a problem for all religions it sounds like the standard response we have had on here thus far. When someone acknowledges that terrorism is a problem with all religions but that it is particularly problematic within Islam at the moment, they are leapt on by the usual suspects who say things that no one has denied like "you realise that Christian have committed terrorist acts in the past" or "there are loads of terrorists who aren't Muslim." it's undeniable that Islam has a problem with extremism currently that other religions do not have to the same extent in 2016. Apologies if that was not what you were saying but that's how it came across to me.
