listen to Oldknow then!
-
clutching at straws betting due to fans hoping and him being out of work and local Strachen was never one short of a comment nor to comment if he felt pointless question. There are no firms facts pointing to it - in fact the echo with comments from Oldknow rule him out. Tony L, who was recently talking to likes of MLT and KK and quite possibly WGS thinks its a definite no. I think its unlikely and wouldn't get your hopes up at all.
-
press have said for ages he is not in the reckoning
-
Do you have one of Malcolm Waldren? or just sharing some of your photo collection!
-
Didn't realise The Kat became a manager In the 1990s he managed Hajduk Split. Apart from winning two Croatian championships and two national cups, in the season 1994-1995 he led Hajduk to the Champions League quarter-finals, what's the best ever club's international achievement
-
Even with 10 point deduction, a late appointed half decent manager, with money to spend (even both in January) should be able to stabalise us in this division. The premiership is different. Even with those players and a good manager in place Portsmouth would be amongst the favorites for relegation. It is not inconceivable, if this isn't sorted very quickly, that Hart and his 10 players will have a Derby style start - very hard to get back from in that hard league.
-
fair enough would be very happy with top three - but still can't convince myself there is chance of them happening. not sure about Boothroyd, decent choice but not exciting Personally would have Tisdale head and shoulders above Cotterill due to similar basic grounding but Tisdale is on the way up, no baggage or failure and could be great in few years - sort of manager who could grow with us. Cotterill is not in demand for some reason and has not done great at higher levels.
-
to draw this to a close, who are your top 5 choices?
-
promotion every year he has managed ffs
-
that is just wrong! similar achievement, bit slower in Cotterills case. THen Burnley which he did ok for couple of years or so. Sacked 2007 and not worked since. Don't want to turn this into moan about him as could be great guy and decent manager, but to slate considering Tisdale because of the great Cotterill is silly
-
so its not what football media think, its not what saints fans think, nor other managers, or other clubs approaching Exeter for him - what is the criteria to judge him? Just don't get your point.
-
who would you take? It would be great to have WGS or KK for a number of reasons, but I'm not getting my hopes up, Coppell would be good. But the rest, whose names come out for every job - would prefer Tisdale.
-
I agree he did come to my attention due to his saints days but then everything I heard about him and read impressed me. Andy Scott is good example and sure there are other good managers out there - Delldays mentioned Scott (who was runner up to Tisdale in LMA manager of the year - but as I said earlier all other managers voted for him just because he is an ex-saint;)).
-
not earth shattering is it? Not in demand either - how long out of work?
-
LMA gave manager of year award due to his time playing at Southampton? Sky - listed as top ten young manager (before last promotion) due to his time playing at Southampton?
-
Phil has posted youtube links on here and his comments - search his posts in this thread. Didn't realise he was the guy in the Piers Morgan tv thing
-
think it maybe time to freshen up the forwards and, as long as they are replaced, would not be too worried if saga/rasiak/john went - unless they are really going to be up for it this season.
-
other clubs bidding is keeping price up - suppose proven prem/international goalscorers don't come cheap either!
-
plenty better qualified and available/likely - no.
-
Scott was runner up of the prestigious LMA Manager of the Year Award for League Two in 2009 after the promotion winning season, losing out to Paul Tisdale of Exeter City. not sure what your downer on him is? not saying he is the messiah and tbf first suggested him before we were rich. would be happy with many others, but most arguments you suggest against him seem self-defeating.
-
love his logic for being trusted - he gave the takeover - which we all knew was happening - 48 hours before it happened - i.e. his guess for when it would complete was wrong!
-
if he suceeds we will be back in the big time! Think a lot of your points phil can only be answered by those closer, within the game, or in interviews. Like any manager appointment it may turn out badly but I would be very optimistic - certainly compared to other names, journeyman managers who names come out for every job over last few years
-
he is also part of the management team for the full squad and will be involved in South Africa
