does this look familiar? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1346960/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-close-5m-Southampton-Arsenal.html

they know if the team is winning and playing good football etc the fans will follow - so it pretty much does! doubt the timing or manner of the announcement will financially impact on the club at all
-
normal business models don't apply in football though - its not like getting fed up with customer service at Debenhams so you go to John Lewis, you are hardly likely to go and get a fratton park season ticket due to their better OS!

"All the debts are football or bank debts secured on the stadium and training ground so there is no route via administration," Sullivan said. "West Ham really is a football club where the football and bank debts exceed the value of the club."

guess they are gambling - they need to go up, agree he would not be cheap but will wait to see whether they are spending much as looks like it will be Gold's personal money.

Sullivan in guardian couple of weeks ago: Sullivan saying last week that "this club is in a worse financial position than any other in the country". In his assertion, he might have factored in that West Ham have the eighth-highest wage bill in the Premier League. "All the debts are football or bank debts secured on the stadium and training ground so there is no route via administration," Sullivan said. "West Ham really is a football club where the football and bank debts exceed the value of the club." He and Gold have also underwritten the £40m loan from Newham council for the £95m move to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford which, legal challenges from Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient permitting, they hope to complete in time for the 2014-15 season. Relegation will blow a further hole in West Ham's finances, with Sullivan saying that he and Gold would have to find £20m-£40m simply to keep the club afloat, despite them being prepared to cash in on marquee players such as Scott Parker. Most commentators have put the figure closer to the £40m mark. West Ham are in line to receive parachute payments, under the terms of the Premier League's collective TV rights deal, while they are in the Championship; the figure is £48m over the next four seasons, with the first two payments being £16m; the final two £8m. Yet Premier League clubs receive a sum of somewhere between £40m-£45m a season, at least, so the mathematics here are depressing. Revenue streams that relate to ticket sales and merchandising will also be hit hard. One of the many worries at West Ham concerns how they might fill the 60,000-capacity Olympic stadium, particularly if they remain outside the Premier League, and another relates to the viability of the business plan once they make the big move as balancing the books would become more difficult.

expect it will be in the echo as well
-
their owner has stated their position is worse than any other club - I will try to find article for you.
-
if you have been following the story their finances are not normal even for football clubs
-
not sure how well WHU will do until see how squad shapes up, guess at mo would be mid table as they are in such a mess from boardroom down. Decent manager appointed though so who knows. Think its silly to assume they are wealthy due to the parachute payment without considering the comments made by their owner basically saying they are scint
-
strange, I don't get it. Would have thought March Madness would have been popular this season. Not following the crowd and only allowing us a month to get a renewal in is hardly making at hard as possible for us though!
-
a month to buy something everyone knew was coming, not that hard ffs! (only agenda supporting saints and getting fed up with limp wristed wet whingers)
-
West Ham's parachute payment is about £100m short of the debt they need to clear.
-
was worried we had re=named a stand!
-
amazing so many people struggled through and managed to get one.
-
no reason at all.
-
they won't be cheap, if that was going to happen it would have been last season, unattractive league and centenary - this season, looking for promotion to prem with West Ham, Cardiff, skates etc -don't expect favours!
-
that seems to imply they are having season tickets next season - thought they didn't want them?

Peterborough in talks with Jason Pearce - worth a bid?
-
7th or 8th?
-
why? It was pretty obvious a done deal in January. Only family quotes I have personally heard were his mum saying he wants to stay and its a good place for him to be at the moment.
-
personally doubt late announcement (unless accompanied with squad being sold) would cost many season tickets. Maybe couple of positive signings before details released may increase. generally guess most people would know at the end of the season whether they want one, or not - whether they are allowed to pay for it in May or are able to save for a couple more months.
