Fair to say it’s another finely balanced game we’ve got here

Belgium-Portugal really difficult to call. I’m going Portugal but it’ll likely come down to individual moments of brilliance on either side.

That match was so finely balanced, and pivoted so much on a couple of key moments, that Dutch fans will be feeling for a LONG time that they should have won it.

de Ligt must feel pretty uncomfortable right now... Czechs have done well to take advantage of the extra player.

Italy concede! Brilliant finish. Feels like Austria deserve that! So, not over just yet...

Think that’ll be that, but at least Austria have taken away a lot of Italy’s aura of invincibility.

Extra time! I had Italy down as my pick for the winners but they’ll probably need to play better than that to go all the way.

Austria certainly turned up for this game. However it ends up turning out, Italy haven’t looked invincible. And now it’s 1-0!

Feels like one goal for Italy could effectively end this game, but Austria are giving themselves an outside chance here.

I think people underestimate a little bit how good an achievement it was for us to win our group without conceding. Although we’re on the ‘easy’ side of the draw, I don’t think that Germany are necessarily the biggest obstacle before the final. They’re certainly capable of having a terrible game at the moment, at least.

I dunno, if they can get past Italy, then past Belgium/Portugal, then past France, it does open up for them a bit after that.

Depends, either cosmic irony or a redemption arc is a pretty good narrative. Southgate already broke England’s World Cup penalty curse after all.

Three times in the last 30 years? Only two of them knockout games!

Germany won’t be an easy game, even as below-par as they’ve been. That said, we’ve got Wembley for most of our matches now too.

Reckon German fans will be as pessimistic as England fans after that for our match! Our side of the draw looks very very open after that game though.

I’d seen speculation he’d been linked to Leeds for £18M odd a while back. Certainly doesn’t seem like a bad deal if this goes through.

Regardless of who replaces them, we’ve seen over and over again that gambling on a player’s fitness for a major tournament isn’t a good idea, especially as we’re so light in midfield.

I think I’d actually be surprised if he’s not in the squad after Southgate gave him that role in this match and he played like that.
