  1. £13 return on the train from Kings Cross as well, not too bad.
  2. Loads of really tough games to call in the Championship tonight, I'll probably give it a miss. Pompey seem a ridiculously long 7/2 away at Colchester though
  3. As Barry Davies said when Italy got beaten by South Korea in the 2002 World Cup... "they will not learn!"
  4. The system did need re-establishing, though, as Graeme Souness impressively destroyed the whole lot (while Lawrie was director of football, let's not forget) in the space of a year.
  5. I expect it includes the ability to change the displayed publish time, although this would usually be used for articles that are embargoed until a certain date/time, rather than backdating something that's been tardily released later than it should have been.
  6. It seems a bit odd that we're relying on a club who were in non-league just over two years ago to sell tickets on our behalf.
  7. What are the rules regarding over-age players?
  8. That's me ****ed then
  9. After much deliberation, I have appointed JustMike and skintsaint as the two new Moderators for the forum - both are long-standing members of SaintsWeb and its predecessors, so have plenty of experience of how the site functions. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone else who applied for the positions, the fact I've taken until this late in the day to make the decision is testament to the quality of the applicants, and I hope everyone will attempt to make Mike and Rob's "move upstairs" as smooth as possible
  10. Might have been his choice, to be fair. Also, many players might not give a toss what number they're given, Davis might have asked for number 8, Cork said "yeah no worries, I'm not fussed"
  11. Nothing particularly eye-opening other than perhaps Guly and Cork moving out of the 11 - wonder if that was their choice, especially as 10 is still available (but presumably reserved for Ramirez if things can be sorted there)
  12. It is ****, but had it not been the first game of the season with the bonus of my attendance guaranteeing me an Arsenal away ticket, there's no ****ing way I'd be going either.
  13. That's the biggest mistake anyone connected with Pompey has made in this whole sorry mess. Had the money spunked up the wall on player wages and transfer fees been invested in building a modern stadium, they could arguably have been in a position to recover in the same way as we have. It certainly would have made the club more attractive to a proper buyer rather than a speculator with the Plan B of knocking the place down.
  14. In true SFC tradition, I was going to wait until 11.30pm tonight so the Echo wouldn't be able to include it in tomorrow's paper Actual answer is I've not decided yet, actually had to do some work this morning
  15. At one point probably about 8 or 9/1, but most bookies closed their "winning margin" markets either last night or this morning. 4+ was 18/1
  16. 10/11 with Ladbrokes
  17. I have a funny feeling he might be a Pompey academy reject, actually
  18. Not as good as this one, tbf Thanks for the nominations so far, all comments duly noted, likewise with the handful of PMs I've received... keep the suggestions coming, please. I'm not around for the next couple of days, I'll probably look to make some sort of decision on Friday.
  19. Morning all, I am looking to recruit one - perhaps two - extra forum moderator to lighten the load on our current moderator team, who have done and continue to do an excellent job policing you lot If you believe you fit the bill, please let me know. Serious applications only, please!
  20. Correct. While, in theory, playing more centrally should enable him to see more of the ball (definitely a good thing), it also means he'll receive a lot more attention from the opposition. This, IMO, has been exacerbated in the Ajax and Udinese games by Adkins' slightly strange decision to play Jay Rodriguez on the left wing, where he's been completely ineffective (as you'd expect from a player who's been a centre-forward throughout his entire career). This has meant that the opposition can commit more defensive resources centrally, so Lallana's been mostly crowded out in those two games. It also doesn't help that Lambert would normally drop deep quite often to collect the ball and start attacking moves but unfortunately he's been about as useful as a chocolate teapot in pre-season. No different to last season, of course, where he started very slowly, but personally I'd have either Rodriguez or Sharp (who's been living up to his name so far) up front at City on Sunday.
  21. Was it an online banking transaction? If so, I'll check that this evening (can't do it at work as I need one of those really annoying card readers to log in)
