  1. To be honest I'm not impressed, why couldn't they give away free tickets for Lords or the Oval:cry:
  2. As is your prerogative but it's not something I do. A reliable penalty taker is crucial to a team, how many vital penalties did David Peach score ? Then there was Alan Ball in the last minute at Luton in 1977/78 to secure a vital win, a lot of pressure on that ? Few would doubt Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world but even he missed a penalty on Tuesday when there was little pressure with Barca well on top and leading 3-1. Still at least that approach makes Frank Lampard seem even more ordinary than he already is
  3. Ok, let us effectively discount 48 MLT goals then.
  4. Ok these are the tips and results I believe since Frankie last bothered to update the table on 27th August : Hatch 4th sept NAP 4.45 haydock Measuring Time Lost NB 2.25 Thirsk Rascal in the Mix ew Lost 8 sept NAP 5pm Epsom - Sailorman Won 11/4 NB 2pm Donny - Byronic Lost 9 Sept NAP 2.15 Bath Dux Scholar Won 1/3 NB Donnny 5.25 Secret Witness ew 2nd 6/1 10th Sept NAP 2.30 Chester Captain Bertie Won 8/15 NB 1.35 Donny Electric Waves EW Lost 13th sept NAP 3.10 Redcar Badeel Lost 15th Sept NAP 4.40 Sandown Rare Tern Lost 16 sept NAP 4.20 AYR Northside Prince Lost Saint Stevo 10th Sep Keratiya 1.35 Doncaster NB Lost Zuider Zee 2.05 Doncaster NAP Lost 13th Sep 4:30 Brighton Dirka Sahn NB Lost 4:10 Redcar Robbie Burnett NAP Lost 16th Sep My Mate Jake 4-10 Yarmouth NAP Lost Activate 4-40 Yarmouth NB Won 6/4 17th Sep Newbury 2.35 - Delegator NAP Won 3/1 Ayr 4.30 - Cheveton NB e/w Won 11/1 Frankie 9th Sep 4.00 Bath Sugar Beet - NB Lost 4.45 Epsom - Slugger O Toole - NAP Lost Chrisobee 10th Sep 16:15 Chester Kyllachy Star NAP Lost 17:50 Chester Diggeratt (USA) NB Lost 13th Sep NAP 3.50 Muss Fremen Won 7/4 NB 3.10 Redcar Badeel Lost 14th Sep NAP 4.00 Haydock Horseradish Won 11/8 15th Sep Kempton 9.10 Copperwood ew NB Lost 16th Sep NAP Ayr 5.20 Lord Areyn Won 7/2 NB Ayr 4.20 Jutland ew Lost 17th Sep NAP Listowel 2.25 Dundrum Dancer Lost NB Ayr 4.30 Cheveton ew Won 11/1
  5. Chanderpaul goes and Notts are Champions.
  6. Durham v Somerset drawn.
  7. I keep trying to forgot that fiasco:rolleyes:
  8. It's a shame really the Somerset game is set to finish earlier than the others as they didn't really have the opportunity to decide whether to stick or bust. Now they aren't going to reach 181 and need to rely on Lancs to thwart Notts, will be interesting especially if Notts get an early wicket !
  9. To be fair to a number of the players who played over the last 4 days they have either probably played too much cricket ( Adams, Ervine, Cork, Briggs and Tomlinson) or not enough ( Jones). Add to that 3 young players in Vince, Dawson and Bates and that only leaves Carberry who has certainly done his far share and probably would have played every game but for injury and Hughes who struggled in English conditions last year so was not our greatest signing. Considering the long term injuries to Pothas, Kabir Ali and Mascarenhas, the fact Simon Jones was clearly signed with next season in mind and the failure of our overseas players in the CCC then I'm happy enough with staying up and winning the 20/20. Hopefully we'll be more settled next season though the 2 week ban for Dimi is a bit annoying though I doubt he'll miss much cricket. Rod Bransgrove has made no secret winning the CCC is his target so let's hope we can achieve that next season, something to look forward to anyway !
  10. NAP Ayr 5.20 Lord Areyn NB Ayr 4.20 Jutland ew
  11. That's the answer people generally give when they have nothing better to say. Were you at Milton Keynes last night, if not why not ? Easy enough to get to compared to flying from Ottawa to Southampton wouldn't you agree ? Anyway to call him a one season wonder is stupid, he's effectively only played one season for us so as posted above his previous record is totally relevant. I've seen many very good Saints strikers struggle at times, in fact I'm struggling to think of any who haven't ! It's pretty simple really, you start the season badly, lose confidence and your form dips. I've nothing against Barnard but his sending off v Swindon was totally unnecessary and apart from losing him it's put pressure on the other strikers and essentially we only have 2 ! Connolly is more of a player to come off the bench and hopefully change the game and so that leaves Lambert who, if memory serves, played 58 games last season and scored 37 goals. In one other game he came on as a substitute. He may well need a break but most of us I believe agreed we needed another striker to ease the pressure on him. Speculation that he wants to leave is purely that as far as I'm aware. In the same way as I'll give the new manager a chance I'll give all the players a chance of a fresh start, the pre season and early season was, as it often is with us, a bit of a nightmare. I wasn't wildly enthusiastic when I first heard Atkins had been appointed but having given it plenty of thought I see it as a good appointment, anyone who can do as well as he did at Scunny clearly has something to offer. He clearly has plenty of challenges, restoring Rickie's confidence is one.
  12. No NAP: Kempton 9.10 Copperwood ew NB Papas Frita ( Kemp 7.40) was close to being my NAP but prefer to do it in an ew double with Copperwood.
  13. Not sure I have anything strong enough for a tipping challenge bet but at ew prices these might be worth ew doubles and treble to small stakes: Kempton 7.10 Barista 7.40 Papas Frita 9.10 Copperwood
  14. Personally I would suspect the "B" side to that single, "Going, Going, Gone " might not only be more appropriate but would offer more possibilities of being original ?
  15. NAP 4.00 Haydock Horseradish
  16. An excellent film helped by the fact I like both Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. My favourite films going back a way are : The Life of Brian The Great Escape Marathon Man Dead Poet's Society Enemy Mine War of The Worlds ( 1953 version and not the very disappointing 2005 remake) Point Break Solaris The Andromeda Strain The Omega Man
  17. 147/6 at tea, Dawson 40* off 113 balls, Cork 41* off 38 balls !
  18. Only a few very short priced horses on the tipping challenge thread. Monday is generally uninspiring.
  19. Hughes is a very good player but as we saw with McKenzie it takes a few games to adapt to playing here, after 2/3 games he was "rubbish"! In hindsight it may not have been a great signing but then again neither was Herath. Razzaq and Christian looked very ordinary too for a number of games but still played their part in us winning the 20/20 trophy. Hopefully next season we'll have Tahir back or if not someone who can play the whole season as that's really a fairer chance for someone to impress......or not !
  20. 102/6, Dawson 27* Cork 10*. It might be a reaction to the relief after beating Kent but Warwickshire did put us in after winning the toss so maybe the pitch is tricky to bat on ? Whatever the case it's good to see Simon Jones playing.
  21. NAP 3.50 Muss Fremen NB 3.10 Redcar Badeel
  22. That's something else to moan about, no direct link works with Scunny as of course it's censored
  23. Indeed not Frankie, just a 35+ point profit to level stakes:rolleyes:
