Dress it up anyway you choose but it's pure bigotry, nothing else. It has nothing to with anyone's rights, the American Constitution or Uncle Tom Cobbly and all. The church in question has signs outside stating "Islam Is Of The Devil", a clear indication that Islamaphobia is alive and kicking especially in the USA along with pure racist hatred and homophobia. There is nothing in the Koran that endorses terroism yet it has been reported : [Pastor Terry] Jones, who is also the author of a book titled "Islam is of the Devil," said protests are key to the mission of his church. "We feel, as Christians, one of our jobs is to warn," said Jones. The goal of these and other protests are to give Muslims an opportunity to convert, he said. In response to the posting of the event on Facebook a little more than a week ago, Jones said that people have been mailing Qurans( sp) to the church to burn. What exactly is there to warn about ? Most Islamic terroist attacks since 9/11 have actually targeted Muslims, at least 60 died in the attacks on 9/11. Muslim organisations world wide condemn these terroist attacks which Al-Qaida claim are carried out in the name of Islam and yet it is a stated belief that Islam forbids the massacre of innocent people and suicide bombings. On that basis one would have to believe I suggest that Al-Qaida are not carrying out these attacks in the name of Islam nor indeed any religious belief or idealogy. Unfortunately there are millions of Americans who are still bigots, in most cases they hate anyone who does not conform to the stereotypical white American way. This plan should be banned as it is nothing more than an attempt to incite further hatred against Muslims in particular but also would send a message that it is Ok to hate and oppose any religion which does not concur with your own beliefs. To believe otherwise would be foolish in the extreme, hatred and paranoia feed off just these kinds of acts and lead to an even more dangerous society than already exists.

Which would probably give us an unassailable lead

Relief to see Carberry and Adams bat out the last 12 overs, only 16/0 but we're in pole position now. Cork, Tomlinson and Ervine all bowled well and Briggs got one wicket though only bowled 8 overs, really great effort with Corky leading the way again by getting 3 of the top 4 and Tomlinson polishing off the tail. On this pitch 250 might be enough though I'd like at least 300 !!

Hants 204. Kent 15/1 off 15 overs, suggests it's not that easy to score runs but aside from Adams and Vince no one really seemed to apply themselves. Bandara who bowls leg breaks 4-42 off 17 overs. Maybe having Dawson as well as Briggs will help if Cork decides to bowl him ?

John [but could be Alex] Higgins admits match fixing.
chrisobee replied to Colinjb's topic in General Sports
It was reported firstly that he had admitted to match fixing but within an hour this had been retracted. As far as I am aware only Sky Sports News have reported this, once again though on Twitter the tweets have been retracted. Thinking it is time people got their facts straight in the first place. -
Posted on Twitter about 10 minutes ago : DimiMascarenhas I sincerely apologise to Geoff Miller I was out of line with what I said, and I have let a lot of people down.. Sorry again..
-
Yes, I think we may not see him tweeting anymore ! Tweet from David Lloyd: BumbleCricket @warne888 Twitter moment against Geoff Miller ...!!everybody getting SO serious ...chill out ..!! I think it was probably Warne encouraged Dimi to sign up to Twitter in the first place.

Just found this : http://www.cricket365.com/england/story/6351863/Miller-tell-off-for-tweeting-KP National selector Geoff Miller appears, however, to have been unimpressed with Pietersen's turn of phrase on Twitter. "I don't like that kind of language - and I don't use that language at all," he said. "I don't follow Twitter and I'm not a great believer in that kind of thing. I don't think it is necessary. "
-
Dimi was never going to get picked again anyway. I received both those tweets but not only do they not now appear on Dimi's Twitter page they don't appear any longer on my Twitter page. Now the sender can delete them as KP did but this is the first time I have known them to essentially be recalled so I think there is more to this than we know. The first one was sent on Saturday criticicising the chairman of selectors, reasonably in my view, and was visible for a day or so. The second one disappeared a few seconds after I read it. I still vividly recall when Warney was here and he was totally bemused Dimi wasn't even included in a provisional 30 man one day squad and rightly so as he was playing well enough to be a serious consider to actually make the team ! I do also know Geoff Miller doesn't approve of Twitter, "it allows people to know what you are thinking ! " Well is that a bad thing ? The blazers should start to loosen up, on the whole they take themselves far too seriously as do certain ex players like Vaughan ( one of the rudest people I know ) and Mr Know It All Boycott. It is no wonder they are consigned to commentating on Channel 5 when Sky have the likes of Atherton, Holding, Botham, Gower, Hussain and the biggest "twit" of all David Lloyd ! They manage to deal with serious issues as appropriate but none are immune from some micky taking and neither I'm sure do they want to be. Great players without egos unlike an average player like Miller who does have an ego. That pretty much says it all.

Oops they did it again - Match Fixing in 4th Test
chrisobee replied to dubai_phil's topic in General Sports
As I stated above the PCB is inherently corrupt so in my view the problem clearly stems from that and though it is hard to sympathise with any players involved in match fixing of any kind what sort of message does that send to the players and especially the younger ones ? -

One of whom just happened to drop the simplest of catches today ! The problem now is anything like that will set people thinking, I stick to my view Pakistan should have gone home. -
I actually find it amazing that riders escape pretty much unscathed from so many crashes that seem awful when you are watching. It's clearly not the fault of anyone that this tragedy happened though for sure Redding and De Angelis will feel particularly bad tonight. I think I am correct in saying one of the worst crashes in which the late Barry Sheene was involved in was in practice when he was unfortunate enough to meet a bike on the track after just one rider had come off so absolutely nothing to do with the size of the field.

Ah well, at least Mark Dennis has been forgotten. I even had to check the thread title to make sure I hadn't somehow wandered on to a different thread !
-
Good grief, one of the best players ever to play for us dares to venture an opinion, whatever next ?
-
And every night we get the same question and the same answer so as per my post on Friday we really need a "sticky" stating that !! Nick G, you have posted over 11,000 times on here, are you sure that by now you don't know the odds are taken down every night as the bookies don't want to have to monitor them:D
-
That makes sense, one of the few good managers we have had in the last 20 years.
-
He did, he is still here only far less annoying thankfully not that it was too hard:rolleyes:
-
FWIW I definitely did see Malky Mackay today.
-
I really think with all the comings and goings at Saints there should be a "sticky" pointing out what some of us always point out that the market is taken down over night so the bookies don't have to monitor it ! You've been on here long enough though silversaint you should know that by now
-
Don't have any sources, just intuition:D
-
Yep the markets are back with Adkins 2/3 with Skybet !!
-
New manager markets are always removed over night, haven't checked but it is usually restored about 9am.
-
As always in these circumstances and heaven knows it's happened to us enough in recent years the bookies has as little idea as you or I as to who the new manager will be. As a result even a £50 bet on someone, maybe less, will set alarm bells ringing and the price falling like a stone. However, clueless though they are the bookies invariably make a killing on new manager markets for that very reason. One or two bets, suddenly from nowhere Bob the Builder is the new favourite, others follow and soon he's 1/5 to get the job but never does. Pointless market, only a fool or someone who really does know for definite who the manager is going to be would place a bet though I'm willing to bet the bookies are on the look out for any dodgy looking Italians having a wager
