Van Gobbel ?

Mick Earls was Irish, a defender from the mid 70's but I'm struggling to think of any other Irish/Welsh players who haven't been mentioned. Has Jeff Kenna been mentioned? I'm thinking a Scandanavian team would be easier so... Niemi Ostlund Svennson (M) Lundekvam Jakobsson Svennson (A) Tessem Nilsson Soltvedt Ostenstad Ekelund It was actually harder than I thought, the only other one I came up with was another striker in Stig Johansen.
-
From memory I would have said he was Scottish but though he grew up there he was actually born in Shropshire.
-
No, it wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be though being able from memory to go back 40+ years helped ! The team I came up with was : Martin ( though could have had Campbell Forsyth or Dave McClaren, an easy position to fill) Telfer Steele Gabriel Burns ( Francis) Fisher McCalliog O'Brien( Gerry) Quashie Speedie Jordan Couldn't actually remember if Ted MacDougall was Scottish or not, as he is I'd have him in way ahead of Speedie who was poor for us.
-
Methinks he is gone and I was close with Shevel anyway ! Besides post 143 refers: "Anyway, regardless the next question is can anyone compile a Saints team consisting only of Scottish players ? Pretty easy I suggest. !
-
That could be him ! Not Stefanovic I know.

The Pompey defender on the line? No idea of his name but it begins with S ! Shevel or something similar ?
-
Well if memory serves we won 3-0, Dodd scored direct from a corner, might have been some doubt as a defender on the line got a head to the ball ? Pahars made it 2-0 and Beatts 3-0 so what's the catch ?
-
Decent score in the end, apart from Lumb everyone scored a few.Don't have any problem with the declaration, a draw is pretty worthless. Dimi and Simon Jones are meant to be playing for the 2nd XI today, any news ?

Fancy a win trixie on the following tonight : 7.50 Southwell : Don't Call Me Derek 8.00 Beverley : Mister Hughie 9.00 Beverley : Leader of The Land Not great prices but having just won £800 on Betfair Casino with a freebie I'm feeling lucky ! Cheers, Chris Add 6.50 Southwell : Zemsky, Mick Fitzgerald is very keen on his chances, trained by his ex boss Nicky Henderson. Do I sense my first ever Kipper style Super Yankee coming, need one more

Really is pretty dire today so I'll skip any analysis except to say I think all these at least offer a little value on a day where it's very hard to find ( 163% book in a 3 runner field at Sedgefield and that's taking best prices, purely taking the proverbial.) 2.20 - Sedgefield - First Lord ew@10/1 4.25 - Ayr - The Nifty Fox - @ 15/2 (General)/Dr Parkes@ 5/1 ( General) 5.00 - Sedgefield - Downing Street - e/w.@12/1 (General) 5.25 - Ayr - Papa's Princess - e/w @14/1 (General) 7.30 - Beverley - Orchid Street - e/w. @ 11/1 (General) Small stakes, consider ew doubles, trebles, whatever takes your fancy. Good luck ! Chris

What is it with you and N/R's/horses being withdrawn
-
Yes, of course the withdrawal of both our selections did not go unnoticed. I laughed too ! Bencoolen did run a very good race and would have course rewarded ew support at 33/1. I had already watched the the 3.20 at Chepstow a few times. I thought Andrew Heffernan gave Blue Noodles a decent ride to be honest, just unlucky close home that the 2 leaders converged right in front! However, I think the decision to disqualify Set To Go was absurd. Hughes had his whip in his right hand I thought though he did give Set To Go a few slaps on the left but for me it was actually Lastkingofscotland's jockey who moved across and caused the problem. ( must admit it would help if I could see the head on replay!) Just the one winner here as well at a skinny 5/4 but at least I did go ew on Well Deal Again who squeaked 3rd by the shortest of short heads over your selection Trade Secret. Anyway a nice article for you on ATR http://www.attheraces.com/article.aspx?hlid=509089&raceid=&title=Here+comes+the+Sun+for+Frankie&lid=&ref=PA+Racing+Feed&nav=home&sub=&day=Wed Cheers, Chris

162/3 at close. McKenzie 48*, Vince 8*. Adams out for 82.
-
I would have assumed it was the ex Wolves centre forward you were talking about !
-
Well you got the score right Kipper, I imagine it must have been the FA Cup QF replay in 1983/84. Armstrong did get one I believe. We then lost 1-0 in the semis against Everton and fair to say I have never liked Adrian Heath since for his jammy winner right and the end of extra time. Despite that it was surely the best season in our history performance wise as we finished 2nd in the League, 3 points behind Liverpool. It included 2 of my favourite games, 8-2 v Coventry and 5-0 v Spurs.
