  1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8362367.stm Great actor. RIP.
  2. Yep, horses head in a box. That Don Corleone and his jolly japes....
  3. Oh dear, the title of this thread reminds me of a gag I heard at a Wedgewood Room comedy night from the warm up bloke.... What smells worse than anchovie? An anchovie's c***. I know, I know, we cringed too. Sorry.
  4. I got one of those and also a note from the postie to say that he'd tried to deliver something that wouldn't fit through the letter box. Must be my glass....
  5. And you know when you're getting old when you're watching a porn and your first thought is "F*** me, that bed looks comfortable...."
  6. The Galloping Gourmet....I remember that. Also Fanny Craddock. There was the classic where she had cooked a load of 'pastries' and her husband turns to camera and says "I hope all your doughnuts turn out like Fannys...." Anyway, back on topic....
  7. Down with the Pompey, you're going down with the Pompey....
  8. Xx - Xx
  9. Predictions? It ain't gonna be easy for Haye. First of all he's got to get inside Valuev's punch range and then set about him with body blows and hope Valuev starts to crumble from the weight of all these over a few rounds. But then Valuev is going to lean on Haye and sap all his strength that way. Going for an early head shot isn't going to be easy but it's got to be an option otherwise this could get to be a very messy war of attrition. I think Haye is going to be the much busier boxer which will help if it comes to points. So, Haye's hand speed and power over Valuev's slugging and shot absorption? It's a tough call but I'm edging towards Haye if he doesn't get knocked down.
  10. Wasn't the entry level Chopper the Grifter?
  11. I wondered who built them. Me and nipper were using them a lot in the summer, went back to one that we liked and it was flattened. We were really gutted. Always good for a few burnt out cars too besides said local yoof tearing around on scooters. Oh well, back to Bassett Bumps!!!!
  12. I feel your pain!!!! Fortunately I've never had my foot get stuck in an SPD, but years ago I did a similar thing with a strap on a racing bike. I always used to lean down and undo the left one (a motorbike thing; left foot always went down so you could keep your right foot on the back brake when stopped). I had the old lean down/free the strap technique down to a fine art but one day missed it at some traffic lights. Me and bike in a slow motion fall in front of several dozen shoppers and motorists....Suffered severely ruptured pride and a compound fractured self esteem.
  13. Good fighting spirit to get back to 2 each after being 2 down, but let's go 4-4-2 a bit earlier in future.... Six points out of the next 2 home games and we'll be dodgers.
  14. Monsters of Folk A collaboration of Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Matt Ward of She & Him. Good bit of alternative country....
  15. The Itchen Navigation from Mansbridge until you get to Bishopstoke is NOT good for off roading. Chock full of stinging nettles and brambles on a path that is no more than a foot wide in some places. I am scratched and stung to bu**ery. After Bishopstoke though it is fab. And you can always stop for some lunch or a beer at The Bridge at Shawford....
  16. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8331824.stm Well, not strictly 'free' as you'd have to pay for the phone and data download (or however this might be included in your tariff).... But geographic information is getting cheaper and cheaper.
  17. Just been to see The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. I liked it 'cos I like Terry Gilliam films anyway, but I didn't love it and I felt kind of disappointed by that; I think I was expecting so much more. The plot or storyline seemed overly complicated and hidden which made it a bit more hard work than it needed to be and I couldn't find myself feeling that troubled that Valentina (Lily Cole) was potentially going to be taken by the Devil (or Mr Nick, played brilliantly by Tom Waits). I just couldn't warm to the characters. That aside, it's still a good film that (probably more importantly) the kids seemed to enjoy.
  18. No, not reminiscing about Franny's goal against Leicester but this.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8328377.stm Right, trip to Sultan's it is then!!!!
  19. If it's an oldish bike be prepared to replace chain/cassette/chain rings/head set as these might be a bit worn. Generally though, a good way to get a decent bike. Cycling is good exercise for a damaged knee as it is relatively low impact. Well, it is on the road, probably not quite so throwing yourself down bumpy Forest trails....
  20. There are some good short sharp climbs but generally the Forest is pretty flat and ideal for a hard tail with a standard fork designed for light offroading. There are some good tracks and paths if you want to follow them. But now the Forest is a National Park they're getting a bit stricter as to where you can go. If you fancy going a bit further further afield, try this.... Although I don't think a hard tail would cut it on this!!!!
  21. Back in the old days when you could ride a 250 on L plates I had one of these.... A Suzuki T-250 Hustler. It made a strange whooping noise when I opened it up 'cos it had K&N air-filters on it and blipping it a bit usually also prompted a huge cloud of blue/white smoke from the exhaust if I'd been doing too much riding around town; 2 stroke engine see, used to get a bit of oil build up in the pots. A quick thrash out on the old A33 to Hockley Lights used to sort that out!!!! Had a custom paint job on it though. Mine wasn't blue.
  22. Alas no, it was the 750. Had a go on the 1100 but it felt a little too cumbersome; I like a bike to feel sure footed but also to have a bit maneuverability, ie, when you hang your arse off it it actually goes round a corner and doesn't keep on in a straight line!!!! But it was loud....
  23. I'm going to jump on and post a pic of one of my bikes that I think is my favourite of all the bikes I've had. It was built like a tank, never went wrong and was pretty quick in a straight line. Not the best handling bike (long wheel base, twin rear shocks) but it was comfy on long journeys.
  24. I remember the motorbike, not the telly, and I think his leg was in plaster but the girls didn't take any kit off. I would remember this vividly as I was 'that age'.... White Punks on Dope (thanks RonM) and Prime Time were the hits of the time I seem to remember. I think he was supported by Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band who were pretty good....or did they support Ian Dury?? It's all a blur now.... Yep, SLF, that was the Inflammable Material tour I think? I'm embarrassed to say I saw Toyah. She had white knickers on; we were at the front looking up....
  25. I've got Manflu which is much worse that swine flu. But I'll be at the footy and I'm running the GSR on Sunday. Welcome back Meesh, thought you'd deserted us all for Facebook....
