We've got no devine right to buy anybody but if they need the money as people claim, they're playing a dangerous game as the clock ticks down. That is exactly what's happening. All the games and bluffing stems down to this. As I said yesterday if no other club comes in for him hes ours.

This has got to be a bluff right? How many deals collapse because of financial problems at the SELLING club. Were trying to give them £12 mil not the other way round FFS. It's getting silly now. I think the fee and payment structure can/will be sorted but we are taking an awful risk that other clubs will come in for him. As with Rodriguez and Cork, if no other clubs come in then he is ours. IMHO the whole deal hinges on this more so than the terms of our potential deal. Saying that, 60 pages of 80% rumours and 20% fact is hardly a good platform to base a sensible opinion on. Could still happen in the same way I could get six numbers up tonight. I would imagine it's not as dead in the water as some think though.

It all makes perfect sense. Spuds say your worth spending £12 mil on but not worth paying more than £17.5k a week to. Knowing that, Liverpool then say your worth £18 mil and we wont give you £25k or £40k or even £70k, we'll give you a £85k a week. Maybe he will go to Liverpool but as is usually the case, facts and figures are just pulled out of the air. Why would Spuds not pay anymore than £17.5k? Why would Liverpool pay him 5 x that? I don't believe a word of it.

It will happen in the end so all those who are against it for various reasons should start to come round to that way of thinking. It's a bit like all the people who said Hooiveld was poor sigining or a sign of desperation, Billy Sharp not up to it etc etc etc they know absolutley **** all. If Cortese thinks this the way forward for the club then I will get behind him and them team.

I get the distinct impression that Sharp is going to be quality for us. After reading threads that he is slow,no confidence,not PL class and all the rest of it. It looks like NA played it right in going for him and not Maynard (assuming he wanted Maynard)

Totally agree. It's not the end of the world despite what the doom merchants think. Would you rather be WHU right now? No thought not. Assuming we see this through I am going to steam into Saints finishing higher than Reading in a match bet in the PL.

Not in any way trying to pick one over the other, but I have seen many posts over the last few years thanking Marcus for saving our club but very rarely see anything about Nicola (unless people are moaning about ticket tax or how horrible he is to agents) Whilst none of this could have happened without Marcus and his wealth, it was Nicola who put the wheels in motion for the whole plan and to me he is as much a saviour to us as Marcus. Sounds stupid I know but I would be half tempted to actually write a letter upon our return to premier league to NC thanking him for what he has done to our club. His vision, accompanied with the backing that we have will bring us back to PL stronger than ever before.

I wonder whether it could actually be a good move for both parties. He knows that many will probably be saying he is over the hill or past his best and may be determined to prove them wrong. With the motivational skills of NA and being the big cheese that BT thinks he is, he is not going to want to come here to underperform and everyone say I told you so. He will want to prove a point. Unless we know for sure that it is a no, I wouldn't be suprised if there is a chance of it happening. The stumbling block as is usually the case will be dosh.

My gut feeling is that we will win. More specifically Adkins would have worked on fitness through the break and I wouldn't be suprised if we put 3 or 4 past them. We've been to enough away days over the years expecting a spanking and it's about time others came to us feeling the same. We are in form, we are a strong team, we are Southampton. I actually find this quite interesting that we have a guy that Celtic fans clearly don't rate, that most people on here are underwhelmed (at best) with and yet Adkins feels he should move for and indeed sign him. Obviously the financial side of the deal is a major contributing factor but if he is so obviously crap like the Celtic forums seem to think, what had Adkins seen that they havn't? I thought Gorkss did'nt want to come otherwise anybody with half a brain would be able to do the deal. It would be in both clubs interests so I'm sure the money part could be smoothed over so to speak i.e we wouldn't hold out for another £50k if they didn't want to go that far. You know what I mean. Don't know much about him other than he appears to be a spoon but seriously is he is really this crap? He can't honestly be that bad I just assume that people are over reacting or exagerating how bad he is. I don't know how anybody could be employed by Spurs in the first place if he is this bad.
