How far are we off a Top 6 place (fifth or sixth in all reality)?

Grandad - surely if anything this thread should point out how far away we are from being a rival to Spurs? -

Berbatov is not playing in a top 6 side - for whatever reason.. I think the game has moved on since Teddy was playing and he really is the exception. -

He's played as a lone striker quite often. -

You say it's not great but then you back it up buy suggesting it is. For me Everton and Spurs keepers are better than Boruc. -

I love Rickie, always will but he's not as good as Fellaini. -
Top 6 is a bit misleading, but if we were to aim for a fifth or sixth place finish how far is our current starting XI off from being a starting XI of a fifth or sixth place side: Boruc - not good enough Clyne - good enough All Centre backs that played this season - not good enough Shaw - good enough Cork - possibly good enough Morgan - good enough Puncheon - not good enough Ramirez - not convinced, possibly good enough Lallana - not good enough Rickie - not convinced, possibly good enough Other regular starters: Rodriguez - not convinced, possibly good enough Davis - not good enough Ward-Prowse - not convinced, possibly good enough So, IMO we have Clyne, Shaw and Morgan who are good enough to at least play in a side that could finish fifth or sixth. The 5 "possibly good enoughs" could well make the Everton / Spurs starting line up but I doubt would be regulars. Combining the above still leaves us short by half a starting XI - not squad depth players - starters. That is serious amount of investment to get us to fifth or sixth, not much change out of £80m to buy proven starters would be my estimate. Would have to be a sensational window to get us challenging for 5th / 6th but happy to debate my opinion. Would prefer this not to slip into a "some mboarders believe this to be the case..." style pointless point scoring exercise.

How will you celebrate Bearsy's return

Invite him round for some Yo Fried Chicken. -
You are quite a sad individual.

Terror trumps race. I don't condone the action but I do have some sympathy for the perpetrators.

Thanks to those who have lessened my ignorance with regards to the fried chicken association. I do find it difficult to Square why Tiger wanted fried chicken as his champion meal. In my ignorance I thought Garcia was mocking Tiger for his poor choice of menu.
-
Do non-news stories such as the spat between Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods do more harm to race relations than good? For those who have not followed the story, Sergio and Tiger had a falling out at The Players tournament 2 weeks ago when Sergio was upset by Tiger preparing his next shot when it was Sergio to go. These 2 have never been the best of friends. At a recent presser, Sergio was asked about Tiger and he responded by saying that he would invite Tiger for dinner and serve him fried chicken. Now this is derogatory to American blacks as it is supposed to be perpetuate the stereotype that those in the deep south eat a lot of fried chicken. If the roles were reversed and Tiger offered to cook Sergio paella, or Colin Montgomerie a deep fried mars bar, Lee Westwood a roast dinner or Rory McIlroy an Ulster Fry would this trigger such a reaction? This is of course me stretching the point BUT the killer point in all of this is that at the Champions Dinner for winning the 1997 Masters the winner, Tiger Woods, sets the menu... the main dish selected by Tiger was.... you guessed it.... Fried Chicken. Bonkers.

The best English striker by a country mile at the moment is Walcott. Pleased he's been picked as a midfielder.

I'd heard you'd heard the same. Can't reveal my source.

what a sad thread. Can these shoddy point scoring threads be put elsewhere? It's just noise. -
Policy of not revealing injuries and players fitness
notnowcato replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
If he's fit, he's fit and he plays. What if he got injured in training next week having not played against spuds. -
Have you been Smoking_Saint? My initial point was that Rickie was better on the ball than Benteke. He is. What you want from a striker is neither here nor there.
-
Rickie has 10 assists this season, I'd be surprised if Benteke has half that amount. If you think Benteke has greater vision than Rickie then you must be Laughing_Saint
-
Benteke may drop deep but he is nowhere near as effective on the ball than Rickie. Great player though.
-
Not sure there is much cross over between SRL and Benteke. Good player that he is, I see Benteke as more Jay than Rickie.
-
Frank Lampard - just for the season. The guy is as fit as most, fairly injury free and would be a huge improvement on Steven Davis - and I like Davis.

Frank Lampard set to leave Chelsea this summer. HCDAJFU.
